I have been getting the exact same haircut by the closest barber for 20 years. My wife recommended Salon Khouri for suggestions on something new. I was greeted by a friendly staff, offered a drink and was asked to sit down in the hair washing chair. I remember these from years ago where you sit in the most uncomfortable chair in the world and arch your neck on sink that felt like a torture device. Their equipment was amazing. I sat in a massage chair and it was actually a relaxing experience. Now I understand why my wife enjoys this versus my rushed trip to the barber. Kai is the best. Does a great job on men's haircuts (especially Asian hair which can be extremely thick). I had a hard time tracking down a stylist in the DC area I was happy with and I didn't have to pay a crazy price (I was paying $60 bucks in Old Town and that Japanese salon in Georgetown before). I drive almost an hour one way just to see her at this location every other month. The salon is very clean and nicely decorated. They use Kevin Murphy products, which is a plus, but I think they use another brand when they shampoo. I usually see Kai first and get a facial - their esthetician (I forget her name) does a great job as well. read more

Kamen is an amazing colorist and knows exactly how to cut curly hair (you curly hair ladies and gents know why this is such a big deal). After being referred here by a family member I had high hopes for the salon. I came in on a Friday afternoon and ended up having to wait 15 minutes past my appointment time before someone got me to shampoo my hair. Jonathan, the owner, was the one who cut my hair. What really turned me off was that he started cutting my hair and then stopped for about 10 minutes to work on someone else's hair. This has never happened to me at a salon before but I was really turned off by this. When I get my hair done I want the stylist to be focused on me...not bouncing back and forth between two clients. I understand they were really busy and appointments were running behind but this just came across as really tacky. Since he was so busy, he had his assistant blow drying my hair which then took forever. All in all I spent almost 2 HOURS just for a haircut/style and left disappointed. read more

Tried this salon out for the first time because of the high reviews. Never had a worse experience with a hairstylist before coming here. Came in for a trim and to get my bangs redone (had a reference picture ready and everything). Asked for a fringe side bang look then the stylist cuts it straight across.. It was too short to correct. The owner had to come and try to fix it but ended up shrugging and saying I'll have to wait a month to grow it back out.. Seriously? Never coming back here again read more

After going to 3 other stylists at other salons to get blonde highlights and brown/burgundy lowlights put in (without looking too stripy, or in one case they ended up pink), I finally got what I was hoping for when I went to Carlee at Salon Khouri! I couldn't find an exact picture of what I wanted, so explained as best as I could. She got the colors EXACTLY on the first try, it was what I envisioned, if not better! I was so impressed and the hair cut was great. Carlee is easy to talk to and the salon as a whole has a nice, clean feel to it and everyone was friendly. I have been getting highlights most of my life. I have never been treated so badly by a salon as this one nor stylist whom just doesnt seem to care about what their service resulted in. These business need positive word of mouth there is too much competition. I can not stress how much I would not go to this place again !! They are overpriced and neglectful. I paid $260 for color, highlights and style. My hair was okay the day of service. It wasnt exactly what i had said but Im a pretty go with the flow easy going person so I left happy as it was a special birthday treat the day of. Within Two days after my appt almost all of the color had bled into my highlights turning them randomly spotted pink. I reached out to them and the stylist responded with, they sell something to prevent this. Seriously? What good is that the damage was already done and why did nobody say something when i was there. I booked a redo appointment to only wanted to get a couple blonde pieces so it would balance out the badly bled look and just move on. Upon arrival to this correction appt I was immediately just refused service and was treated rudely. Nobody even looked one second at my hair to suggest any help at all. My stylist Carlee conveniently was not at the front. According to the mgr, apparently she had told her that she told me at my first appt to buy the product but i refused saying i didnt have the money. Which is a total 100% fabrication. The only product we ever discussed that day was that i used redken color extend shamp/cond and she said that was fine, end of discussion. That was the only ever mention of any product during the 3 hours i was there. And as I am admittedly somewhat of a product junkee, I would have definitely purchased something. I mean i spent $300 what was another 20 to prevent damage. This manager's behavior was rude and outrageous and there was no empathy nor any type of customer service what so ever. Which was surprising to me as the person whom booked my correction was respectful courteous and assured me they would look at my hair and see what could be done. Previously to this experience, I had went to the same stylist for over 14 years without issue and only switched due to location convenience. I'm fine with driving an hour away now just to get treated well and someone whom adheres to some sort professional integrity & quality. I was also told that Jonathan the head manager (whom I never met) at SKhouri approved for them not to help me and and when i asked to speak to him I was told it was his decision and he was on vacation anyway. All she kept saying to me is there was nothing they were going to do. When I asked why wouldnt anyone just come look at my hair to suggest thats all she would say. Something that was simple easy and quick has now turned into one of the most ridiculous retail situations I have come across & I am in customer service industry so that says alot. Very sad nobody even took anytime to just speak to me just try to help. I am horribly disappointed and now have to walk around with this patchwork hair style until I can get it fixed elsewhere. read more

Every aspect of this Salon exceeded my expectations! Booking appointment was quick and efficient with a very friendly receptionist. My appointment with Chris Kelly blew me away. My hair is severely damaged by a bad perm, and when I left I felt FANTASTIC. I know it is still a process, but she set me up with a manageable plan, and I am very grateful! Not even one star is deserved. The most garbage haircut I have ever gotten. I went to the salon on the Saturday 07/13. I showed pictures to the stylist who probably spent no longer than 2 mins doing a consultation. I showed her pictures for inspo and told her how I have thick Indian hair that I don't style because I live a pretty busy life. She said ok great got it. No feed back.. no suggestions. Cuts and styles my hair doesn't ask questions of what I think of it and sends me on my way. I don't usually like my hair blow dried so I can't really tell if I like it until I go home and style it myself. I go home and style it and it was SOOOOO Bad. Choppy, not even, and one side was longer than the other. The next day I call the salon speak to the receptionist.. told her how unhappy I was and I wanted to speak to a manager / owner. Also told the receptionist I will be traveling so I need to hear back. NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK. It's been over a month! I paid $75 for the haircut , bought $24 in product and $35 in tip!!!!!! I've worked 5 years in beauty as a professional makeup artist. I write reviews very rarely because I give artists the benefit of the doubt but this was un-real. What a freaking shame. read more

This review is more about scheduling and communication and I am writing this with a very heavy heart. I scheduled a haircut appointment with Kris months back( as we know they are booked weeks/months ahead) for my bday. I arrive at 6.45 for 7 pm appointment. I am told at 7.10 that she will not able to do my hair as it will make more than an hour and her next appointment is at 8. I came to got my hair done for my bday and I am told it won't be done, I was very unhappy(maybe they should have started me as soon as I got there) . They apologized and tried to schedule me but alas no times available. It isn't my fault that you can't finish my hair in an hour. Also I was told that the owner will call me and take care of it, but no one called me(I gave them 10 days before I wrote this). Anyways I am very disappointed and shall be returning there only fir Ms Judys facials who does a spectacular job. Wish people would understand that we schedule times and arrive there fighting traffic and setting aside other things to be provided good service. I will be returning back to my previous salon even if it means traveling 25 miles. read more

I got my haircut with Trisha last fall and I'm still waiting for my hair to grow out. First, she dry cut my hair (my hair is too thick to do that)... probably should have gone to Great Clips where this is common practice (I know bc my 12 yr old goes there) and had a better cut and a whole lot cheaper. I had to go back days later to get it fixed with someone else and she was surprised how bad the cut was and had to go shorter to fix it. I wish I would have just asked for money back. Way too over priced for the level of stylist this salon has. read more

I went to Salon Khouri specifically because Kamen Leung now works there. Kamen is truly wonderful, and takes the time to really talk to her clients and ask questions to understand what they are trying to accomplish as well as being meticulous about what she is doing. . And when you do something truly awful to your hair at home (like I did), Kamen did a beautiful job of correcting the color, and giving me a style that I can really work with (I have very straight, very fine hair). I really appreciate her desire to continue to learn her craft by taking classes and seminars to stay current. I know she will always be able to recommend something that I will be happy with. The salon itself is very nice, and I felt comfortable there even though it was my first visit. Everyone smiled and greeted me. I like that the clients are not immediately visible from the waiting area or outside the salon. I especially enjoyed the massaging chairs at the hair washing station. Unlike many massage chairs that make you feel like you've been at the receiving end of a boxing match with a kangaroo, these are gentle, rolling massages that were so relaxing.
