I recently moved to Colorado and was dreading the thought of finding a new stylist. Salon Republic is a really cool concept - each stylist (or nail/skin/etc specialist) operates their own business but rents a private room inside the salon. So there's a main front desk, but you book your appointment directly with your stylist. Each room is quiet and there's no loud, busy salon thing happening here. I love it! I chose Victoria Hernandez by searching for "funky hair stylists in Broomfield" or something equally silly on Google. I wanted a gal who I could relate to style-wise. I saw a picture of her with purple hair and was like, "yep, this is the stylist for me!". Victoria is a super cool lady and she did a fantastic job on my hair. I felt so comfortable and welcome there which is big for someone who's a bit shy like myself. I absolutely love my haircut and highlights and am really excited that I've found a great new hair stylist in this area. She would be perfect for anyone who wants to try something new with their color - she knows a lot about funky shades! I highly recommend Victoria and will be back to see her soon! read more

I think this place will house anyone who gives them money. Just look at Kiana's reviews for Pretty in Ink, and you'll see that at least one provider in here has customers deeply shaken by their work (one of which is me, who had to pay a whole lot elsewhere to reverse it). My boyfriend saw Heather at HJC Miller Cpsmetology. She did not ask him about the length he wanted. He had long curly hair and she basically gave him a buzz cut on the sides and cut the top of his hair till it was standing straight. Does it feel good taking my boyfriends heritage and taking it through the mud? Making him look like every 20-something white guy with short hair? The job she did was outrageous and neither her nor the management company care. The woman at the front desk told me she's "sorry" and if there's any way to fix it. It's hair! What does she want to do? Glue it back on? And Heather herself won't answer her phone, sending me straight to voicemail. If I had seen her Instagram pictures from previous haircuts she's done, I would have cut it myself. (heatherjcmiller for anyone that's curious.) My boyfriend meets my family tonight and is embarassed to even show his face to me, let alone my family. I hope the $20 she charged for a shitty excuse of a haircut was worth it. Heather, you should think of perusing a different career path. I heard McDonald's is hiring! They love fuck-ups like you that will mess up peoples well-being for some extra cash. This review is for two stylists at Salon Republic - Rene and Julia. But I do want to say that Salon Republic itself is GREAT. Clean, professional, well decorated, and their stylists seem very happy! RENE - I've been having my naturally curly hair cut by Rene for over 4 years now - which is huge for any curly girl! It's so hard to find a stylist who understands curly hair, and Rene truly does. She is certified in the DevaCurl method, which means she dry cuts my hair and knows just what products to use and how to apply them. She's also a really cool person who will have interesting conversation with you if you're in the mood to talk, or if you want to relax and go all zen, she respects that as well. Her studio in Salon Republic is beautifully decorated - complete with local art for sale! - and is a really relaxing place to be. JULIA - Rene introduced me to Julia when I asked about getting my hair styled for my wedding. Julia is FABULOUS. She traveled to my hotel in Boulder to style my hair as well as 4 other women in my bridal party. She was on time, great at communication, and SO friendly. Plus she works so quickly!! She and my bridal party and I all had a great time together, and I got SO many compliments on my hair. I had a trial run with her several months before my wedding. She listened to me, looked at pictures, heard all my concerns and requests - and came up with a style that was EXACTLY what I wanted: updo with my natural curls, not overly-styled...something that made me feel beautiful, which is what every bride wants. I went to Salon Republic for the first time last Thursday. I had an appointment with the owner of Haven Hair Studio -Stacy. I went for a cut and face framing highlights. After the cut she asked how do I style my hair, straight or wavy? I told her wavy but she just curled it. It still looked nice and I paid my $100 plus $20 tip and left. The next day I showered and my natural hair showed the horrible, HORRIBLE cut. It was uneven, choppy..looked like she literally had no idea what she was doing or didn't give a shit. I hear it's a classic move for a "stylist" to curl your hair after they destroy it in order to still get paid and get you out the door. Anyway, I get into contact with her and tell her I need it fixed. I had a big work event on the following Monday and I was really hoping she could fix it for that. She told me she doesn't work weekends, which doesn't seem like any effort on her end to try to get in for an hour into HER OWN salon to help fix her mistake. So I said okay then I prefer a refund. She said a refund is something she's not willing to do. Which made me very very mad. The only option she gave me was to reschedule, but the more I thought about I realized I should NOT allow her to touch my hair again. I went to my friend, a student, who was shocked to see how terrible my hair looked and how much I paid. She was also shocked Stacy told me she was not willing to give a refund. I got my hair FIXED for free by a student when a professional who charged me $100 destroyed it. It also sucks there is no one besides the owner to discuss these issues with. There is no accountability. She gave me horrible service got me out the door and now she's scot-free. I'll never go back to Salon Republic because of this fact. It's nice to be in a private little room with one's stylist instead of a big open room. It feels more personal, and after developing a relationship with the stylist, it's a fun little two hour gab session setting. I think the stylists are experienced and know what they're doing. read more

I got to Amy C. and she does a wonderful job. I have gone to many different stylists over the last few years but she is the best one I have been to. When she first dyed my hair I got tons of compliments on how rich and pretty it was. I have always had issues getting hairstylists to layer my hair in gradual, not choppy layers, and she does it just right and makes it look great every time. She has great suggestions on what types of cuts, bangs, etc. would look best. I convinced my husband to go to her as well, and he was very satisfied. This was an overall great experience. My friend and I went for a pedicure and they did a fabulous job. We had a discount coupon so it was worth the money we spent. But, if I had to pay full price I am not sure it was better than going closer to home. I might try to get my hair done though, it had a great vibe and atmosphere! Great overall experience! read more

I'd never been to a big salon co-op place before, but I was pretty impressed with this place. Julia is a fantastic stylist who really listened to all my requests. She is super friendly, and definitely knows her way around curly hair! I have only been in her office and the salon's lobby, but the decor is nice and very clean. No exaggeration, it was the worst "color" job I have ever had in coloring my hair over 15 years. I had a groupon for Ika's european salon inside of Salon republic. The problem with this is that each stylist is essentially their own boss, so no one is there to handle situations when they go bad, like mine did. My roots were grown out about two inches. Ika talked about what she wanted to do for literally 25 minutes, so that was a red flag that she didn't know what to do. She stayed in the room while my hair processed, never talking to me the whole time of doing my hair making it uncomfortable and awkward. Ika did a full hi light using bleach. My hair was green and fried and looked like it had been frosted from the 80s. She claimed she didn't like using the Groupon because she "doesn't make any money off of it". She was literally going to let me walk out of there looking like, arguing with me that it looked good "compared to what it was before". Finally I convinced her that it was not acceptable and I was not liking (hating) my hair, and it needed correction as politely as I could because she wasn't understanding me. Ika said that putting another color, or something over it to hide the stripes of the botched hi lite was something that stylists do only to make more money from their clients. I had already been there for over four hours at that point. She told me that I should understand, as a professional makeup artist, that when people come in with "ugly features" I do the best I can, blaming her bad job on me and my previous stylist. I used to pay $60-85.00 before at form and function where I received many compliments, but unfortunately my stylist Sarah left the business. Ika still charged me $111.00 after the alleged 50% discount advertised. Awful, unprofessional, and humiliating to say the least. The worst part is that she will never hear or take criticism to become better. As a beauty professional, your customer's opinion of how beautiful they look and feel, is what you she should be striving for. I will continue to go to an established chain like form and function or aveda where accountability, customer satisfaction, training, and growth is their focus, not making money. I recently saw Jade and was dissatisfied with the pixie trim she gave me. She used a razor to cut the whole time which left several thin bald-like patches on my head.
