I went to this place for the 1st time & it was my WORST HAIRCUT EVER. I have never EVER had to return to a hair salon to get my hair 'fixed' after it had just been cut until now & I never write reviews of ANYTHING online (who has the time) but this was so BAD I feel like I need to do it.
I looked online for a new place to get my hair cut since it has been a while since I've had it cut. I have had my hair cut at a couple of salons in Sparta that have since closed. I have very long wavy hair about half way down my back that I have been growing out. I saw the good reviews of this place talking about the talent here and the nice atmosphere and figured I would give it a try. I called up and asked to make an appointment; when asked which level stylist I wanted I said "mid-level." The receptionist told me that she was giving me a Level One stylist (this was my first WTH) and that "everyone here is fantastic". Okay, fine, whoever it is will probably do a nice job...
I talked to the girl who was cutting my hair for about 5 minutes about what I wanted. I even showed her a few pictures on my phone. It was very simple--side bangs, layered, and cut straight at the bottom, BANGED straight at the bottom and keeping the length long. I previously had my hair cut with a face frame (hair is cut on an angle in the front so that there are shorter pieces closer to the face) which has long grown out so that my hair was in the shape of a "V" at the bottom looking from behind. The longest pieces were in the center of my back. I told her REPEATEDLY that I no longer wanted the "V" in my hair; it looks messy; I want it cut STRAIGHT.
She spends about 10 MINUTES OR LESS cutting my hair and straightens it. I did not get a good look at the bottom of my hair in the salon and did not see the back of it before I left. MISTAKE.. I get home, get in front of a mirror and pull my hair to the front. I KID YOU NOT--my hair is uneven! 2 DIFFERENT LENGTHS ON EITHER SIDE AND WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH DIFFERENCE, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 2 INCHES DIFFERENCE. A friend of mine could not believe that they let me leave the salon like that. She took a couple of pictures of the back of me for me to see, and not only was the "V" shape still there, longer in the center of my back, but this center WAS OFF TO ONE SIDE
I get in my car and drive back to the salon.
I simply say, "my hair is uneven." Let me tell you I was not angry, did not even show that I was that upset. The girl who cut my hair seemed more upset than I was. She acted flustered and came up with a bunch of excuses that make absolutely no sense. "Oh her hair is 'fragile'" which I'm assuming means that my hair is fine. Yes, I know that my hair is fine but I'm a girl in my 20's and I have hair that is not in any way out of the ordinary. What does this have to do with cutting my hair straight in the back? It was a simple haircut
She sat me back down and cut my hair straight in the back in less than 5 minutes. It was very rushed & I'm assuming this was to get me out of there and to make the least big of deal of this as possible. She tells me in order to have the bottom straight, she needs to cut about 4 more inches off of the pieces that are the longest. OKAY! WE SHOULD HAVE HAD THIS CONVERSATION IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THIS SAGA. I said go ahead!! If she didn't understand what I meant about how I wanted my hair cut straight in the back I wished she would have asked me in the beginning. I think she was afraid of cutting my hair too short; this is why this all happened. BUT IN THE END SHE HAD TO CUT MORE OFF BECAUSE SHE HAD NOT CUT IT STRAIGHT ACROSS IN THE BEGINNING.
So after my hair is fixed I leave the salon and I have to say, I am never one to complain to get special treatment. I am by all means not one of those people who does this wherever they go, but I got 0 ABSOLUTELY 0 APPOLOGY FROM ANYONE. I ended up spending about $50 including tip on this haircut.
And to top it all off when I get home I have MY SISTER trim some of the pieces to make it straight because the fix was rushed.
I know this is a long review, but this is no exaggeration. I felt like I needed to give the full story. read more
