Website and menu were nice. Called three time to make an appointment no answer. Wish they would have answered I really wanted to try them.

When I walked in, I felt it was a little industrialistic in the way there's a cage (aptly named "The Cage") holding all the retail swag. It's also an open floor plan once you get past the front counter (sans the cage in the middle). Behind that is another cage where you walk in and get your waxing done. All in all, the feel was a lot warmer than expected, given the color scheme and the cage thing. Prices can be reasonable, given the product (brow wax $6), but hair service still on competitive par with other businesses. I was gifted a Groupon, and I think something was said that a normal hair cut with shampoo, conditioner, style is around $40? You have to keep in mind, yes, it's a school. They are learning. But the teacher to student ratio is about 1:4. Sometimes 2:4, depending on how many students are working. I'm sorry I forget the girl's name who worked on me. She's from Nashua, NH and has a short hairstyle. Her grandfather was a barber in NH so she comes from a line of hair cutters. She worked right from a picture in one of their books, and got the style I chose, perfectly. She did have a question about a piece of it, but the teacher corrected her. I do have to say, she must be doing something right if the teacher said it was VERY good, and her peers kept coming over and watching. She deserved the accolades. I love the style and she was spot on in doing the cut. Took her time and didn't rush it. She made it worth going. I'd go again, with or without a groupon. read more

DO NOT TRUST ANYONE HERE WITH YOUR HAIR!! If I could give them less than one star, I would. I went in with my hair previously balayaged just the way I wanted it, and just asked them to brighten the already light pieces/move up the color an inch (not all the way to my scalp). I specifically sat the stylist down to make sure she was comfortable/could do a good job. I specified that I absolutely did not want orange/yellow hair when I walked out. I showed her photos of what I wanted and photos of what I didn't want. I came into the salon with beautiful hair... and left with exactly what I didn't want: orange hair all the way up to my roots. Not blended AT ALL. As soon as I got in my car, I cried my eyes out. I had worked so hard to get my hair the way I wanted it and simply wanted the light pieces a shade blonder. They ruined everything I had worked for in color over the past year in one sitting. The stylist didn't apologize, the manager didn't apologize, and they still made me pay for the service even though it was the exact OPPOSITE of what I asked for. Long story short, I went to an actual salon and had them fix the absolute mess that was my hair. I don't care if you want to save money, do not make the same mistake I did in going here. DO. I had to write this review after reading the previous one. You went to a SCHOOL, they are there to learn, mistakes are going to be made and when you pay a low rate (with the 50% off about 4 dollars) you get what you get. I go there all the time for pedi and mani's and sometimes the polish job hasn' t been perfect, but hey for 9.00 I can repolish at home, but I got all the other stuff done as well. People who frequent a beauty school understand what they are getting for a reduced rate and when they have made mistakes, they haven' t charged me. Students need to practice before they can go out into the public to charge. Obviously some have natural talent and some have to work hard to get the basics. You take your chances when you go to a school, but if you get lucky and get that talented stylist you leave all smiles for 8 bucks! read more

I had been going to an established salon where the cut and color ran about $100. I was unable to get the exact cut that I was looking for so I thought I'd try Salon Solaris. I am very glad that I did. The students working there want to learn. The instructors check each step of the way and answer any questions that the student or client has. It takes a bit longer in the chair, but it's worth it. I finally got the cut I was looking for, and the color was beautiful. This for about half of what I was paying. I have and will continue to recommend this salon. read more

They have a limit of age on who can get their nails done and i do not like that i mean who cares its just nails.

I so wish I could give zero stars! DO NOT GO HERE! We have fallen on hard times and my son and I were in need of haircuts and my husband needed his hair edged (just trimmed around the neck and ears). I had a coupon for 50% off so I figured I would try the hair school. Little did I know that you basically need no training to be in the salon. The girl that attempted to cut my hair had been there 6 months!!!!!! I had a angled bob but now I have a boy hair cut with basically really long bangs it is aweful and the instructor did most of it. My poor little guy had a cute little boy cut that he has had since 6 months. He is all business about a haircut and moves less than I do so he is an easy cut or so I thought. I get done with me nightmare and go over to him and his hair is all cut in steps it looked like she had cut it with a weed whacker. I had to have the instructor use the clippers and cut all his hair basically off. Then my husband sits down for his edging and the guy pulls out clippers not trimmers to edge his hair. I am in no way a barber but I know you do not use clippers for that. He ended up cutting his ear and making him bleed I told the guy to just quit and I did it myself when we got home. The insult was they knew how pissed I was and asked me what I wanted to leave for a tip. Here's a tip. Learn to cut hair before you start working on the public! read more

Students have no guidance! Everthing was so hectic, I was told 15 minutes and ended up waiting an hour and 30 minutes for a haircut...I had wanted a color, but the student was so nervous and confused I decided not to! The student couldn't find towels or stuff to put in my hair. My haircut wasn't checked by anyone and my boyfriend had to point out the uneveness in the back. what a mess and a waste of time! The manager was not friendly or helpful with my groupon even with all that. I was also asked if i wanted to leave a tip. The prices aren't even that cheap. I won't be back! read more

I students are well guided. I only got a haircut once in 4 years and won't do it again. But I have gotten many highlights and color done that the students have done great with. I do not like how uncomfortable their sinks are. They should add foam to them or something for your neck. read more
