I get made fun of for how much research I do prior to choosing any new personal grooming service. However, I was even more diligent when looking for a professional stylist/colorist this time. Here's why... Since losing nearly all of my hair in April of 2023 and working with my medical team and hair growth professionals I was excited to hear that after my hair growth and health was at the point that I could start highlighting it and that was something I didn't know if I'd ever be able to do again but was ecstatic to hear I could. So of course I wanted (and needed) to find a reputable salon with trusted stylists that use healthy products. I chose Salontage because of: 1: Their high star rating on both Goggle and Yelp 2: Their rave reviews revealing consistently positive results 3: Their return customers especially from walk-ins (which says a lot) 4: The lack of turn-over of stylists and "family" that has been created) 5: The proven healthy and effective products they market 6: Their location & Open, Beautiful & Stylish Salon 7: The events they get involved in as I saw on Instagram My experience at Salontage and having Nikki as my stylist only validated that my research was correct in choosing Salontage. From the moment I called to make an appointment the efforts to accommodate me with my schedule and get me in with the right stylist was matched with a warm and friendly voice, and it added to my excitement in getting my new highlights with my new hair growth! My stylist, also extremely friendly and accommodating, contacted me nearly immediately and I was scheduled bing bang boom! Easy. Nikki proved she is phenomenal as a hairstylist...SHE KNOWS HAIR, color, highlights, damage, growth, products, and as a person, she is friendly, warm, honest, helpful, inquisitive, open, delightful and truthfully just overall REFRESHING. In my first appointment with Nikki I could tell she is one of those people you immediately know you'd want as a friend. LOL. I also know she is talented is so many other specialties beyond what was relevant with me. I was so nervous getting highlights for the first time after 1-1/2 years after the new growth, using boxed gray touch up and I'm always embarrassed knowing that my hair is still so thin and frail and uneven everywhere from the regrowth even with the growth products I use. But Nikki was so compassionate, lessened my anxiety and made me feel comfortable so that I truly enjoyed the entire experience. Losing my hair has been quite an emotional experience and I have not had many moments of joy regarding it. After seeing the completed result I actually cried happy tears! The other stylists were nice and supportive and their customers were having an obvious good time as well. In fact Mary, the owner, introduced herself, and shared a little bit of Nikki's inspiring professional history. Also how proud she was of all of the stylists at Salontage that were in fact a long-term created "family". Another great find were the VOLUSPA candles they sell. I saw them when I walked in and was so happy because they are my BFF's favorite and hard to find certain scents. They said I'd love the selection at the holidays too! Can't wait! I can't say enough (well this EXTENSIVE review is trying) about stylist Nikki Quant and Salontage. I will return for all my salon needs! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I needed to get my hair and makeup done for my maternity shoot later that day, I had Mary help me out on that dept! She was flexible with her schedule and helped fit me in before I had to get to Thousand Oaks later! I basically just told her to do whatever you wanna do to make me look glamorous for the camera! I usually don't tell professionals how to do their jobs, so why start it with hair/make up artists? And the outcome? Check out the pictures! I'm pretty sure it speaks louder than words! She did an amazing job!! Samantha was wonderful-she sat me down, did a consultation explaining my options-change color (i was red before and got tired of the maintenance.) We quickly scheduled a trial before booking and she accommodated me for showing up an hour early for our appointment. I had no clue what style I wanted, but I showed her a few from Pinterest. So I always get my hair done in my country since I got here in US I am so afraid to try a different stylist. The other co-owners will also check on me if I'm okay, and will offer like water, coffee or tea. Mary is my stylist and also the co-owner, she was so nice and she listens on what you like, she is honest on what looks good on me and that is what I love about her, not all the talking and marketing. She will not let you do or get something that you don't need. As I can see, she is very passionate with her craft. I had my haircut trim and layered plus a Balayage treatment. The price is a think two dollar sign $$, but we are taking here quality and no regrets after. This is worth the money I paid. I used my first service discount upon checking in on yelp. I stopped in to see if something could be done with my hair; I have been in the process of growing out previously dyed red hair & had used a home color removal kit....which worked somewhat but still left a lot of warm tones and dried out my hair, plus my new growth was on the ashy, cool end of the color spectrum. I was really hesitant to leave this review, my review is based on the outcome of my hair after my roots were "touched up". I want to first thank the staff for taking me in on such short notice. When l called first thing in the morning and spoke with Sue l explained that I was looking to get a cut and a dye, she asked what color l'm looking to get and l told her my hair is currently black, so black, she said she would give me a call back and she did (very responsive). I came in and Symantha started working on my hair. Symantha is really sweet and very wonderful to talk to. Everything was going great, Adam ended up cutting my hair which l understood, again, because it was so short notice. Adam did a wonderful job. Once Adam started blow drying my hair l began to notice my roots, they were a lot lighter than the rest of my hair. I asked Adam, he said he didn't see anything, so maybe it was just the lighting. NO, it wasn't. As you can clearly see it in the photo, on top of people noticing which was super embarrassing. I went back and told Sue my concerns because she said that they stand by their work, Sue gave me an aerosol black spray complimentary which was a temporary fix. $136 dollars later, l left with a nice hair cut. I voiced it to Mary and she immediately removed it and happily changed it to a lighter shade that I was more comfortable with. I also had a few pimples and acne scars she covered flawlessly. I loved the neutral tones she used and the eye lashes were INCREDIBLE- I couldn't even feel them. Needless to say, I've booked Mary to do my wedding make up for myself, bridesmaids and mother, and cannot wait! In addition, I was so pleased with my make up that I decided to make another appointment to have Mary touch up my roots and fix some color issues. Carrie is fantastic. She is a wizard with scissors! :) Carrie is great at helping select best hair color for your skin tone. She cuts my hair, my husbands hair and my 4 kids hair. I have referred several people to her and they were thrilled with her talent. She even took the time to teach my daughter and I the proper way to blow dry our hair - what a difference.
