I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sal's makes great pizza... but drops the ball on customer service! First, I purchased gift cards, and received comp cards. Their employees did not know how to process the comp cards at all. That time, customer service responded to email and transferred the golf cards to gift cards. Note, their employees also do not know how to credit their loyalty program for your purchases. This time, they rolled out a new app, and asked customers to transfer their gift cards to it. Of course, my gift cards will not transfer. So, I emailed customer service again... no response. THE DEAL: expect problems when you try to use the comp cards that they give away when you purchase gift cards... and the employees act like they don't even know there is a loyalty program! read more

Maybe because I have never been there before I didn't know that ordering one slice means ordering two, but why is this not made clear? I almost walked out after being charged $7.50 for what I thought was one slice. The sauce was horrible - not sure how they have been in business so long. Actually pretty good. The price for a single slice of pizza might scare you, but the size of 1 slice is so huge, and YOU WILL BE FULL, so don't worry about it. For what I paid, and what I got, it was actually worth it. I was stuffed. The staff was also very helpful, knowledgeable, considerate and kind. Although the pizza was not 100% pretty in looks, and slightly messy at 1st glance, it was pretty good. 1 thing I've never seen before, which i found to be rather unique was that the sauce had chunks of tomatoes in it, which was actually a pretty enjoyable experience. Being from South Carolina, you can't just get slices from places. It's just not a Southern thing and it really annoys me. Anytime I'm up North or Boston I try to pop into any place that has slices at least once. So how was it? Really nostalgic. Is this the best pizza I've ever had in my life? No. Not even in the same ball park. Is this a really solid slice? To some people, sure. For me? It just hit the spot. The sauce was good, the bottom was crispy/dusty, the crust was chewy (I personally like that), and you essentially get two slices for the price of one. I had some errands to run in Boston the other day, and as I was heading home, i realized two things: I was hungry and I needed Pizza. Fortunately, I passed by Sal's and stopped in. Holy Moly! I got two slices of their cheese pizza and I was absolutely blown away by the stunningly delicious flavor, aroma and their kind, friendly service. This is definitely one of the top three best pizza's I have ever had in my life! I am so impressed. The pizza was not only tasty but was an outstandingly generous size. The price was fair as well. We visited Sal's Pizza almost 3 weeks ago on a Friday afternoon. Our flight landed right after 12, and we did not get to downtown until almost 2. We were hungry and needed a quick bite to eat. We decided to share a slice of the pepperoni and banana pepper pizza as the slices were large and we didn't want to spoil dinner with us having a late lunch. We also got a chocolate chip cannoli as they looked good! I will say this is a case of it looks better than it actually is. While the pizza and cannoli weren't bad, they weren't great either. I liked the thin crust and the overall taste of the pizza, but it was a bit spicy. Not sure if it was the pepperoni or the sauce or what additional was on this pizza to make it spicy, but it was not expected when we ordered. The cannoli was also just standard to me. Sal's cheerful gal who was working behind the counter, waving at me through the window while dancing to Bruno Mar's 24 Karat song before I walked in, gets the stars. Even though salad was the only menu item I could consume, she made every effort to check & see what could be beneficial. Not only did I end up with a extremely fresh made salad, I got two different salad dressings & an offer for a complimentary drink...I declined as soda pops aren't my thing. I'm complaining about 60 cents but it still pissed me off. Outside the store is a sign that says 10% discount with college ID. I go to Umass so I decided to get a slice. Order the pizza, show my ID, and the guy tells me it's only for Suffolk and Emerson students. Okay, I get it, but how about you put that on your sign so people who don't go to Emerson and Suffolk won't order food thinking they are getting a discount? We came here one afternoon hungry for some pizza after walking around Boston Common. We came in and the place was a little dark and dingy and the pizzas were all sitting around not looking too fresh but we decided to try it anyways. We each ordered a slice which ended up being 2 large slices each which was surprising. We ordered to go because there was no where to sit down in the shop but this was okay however the pizza ended up being beyond greasy and the grease leaked all over my wife's puffer jacket and stained it. Also the shop didnt feel welcoming and it was little bit dirty with crumbs all over the countertop. We ordered 2 waters with our pizza as well but the cashier forgot them.
