The choreography and range of technique is amazing. More importantly, the social emotional learning is very special - especially in dance. The recitals are so so well put together, with professional sound, lighting, costume, and choreography, which is surreal considering that it organizes hundreds of kids into so many back-to-back ~3 minute dances. Luna also feels like a space for inclusion whether the kids are rapidly advancing in skills and there to be with friends and have fun. My daughter has done 4 recitals, and I've done 8 (in the adult hip hop class). We've loved every minute and can't recommend it enough!

What I enjoyed most was being able to participate in performances that Vicky choreographed. I'm no longer dancing with her because I moved away, but I always drop in for class when I'm in town. If you are an intermediate dancer or are returning to ballet after a gap in your dance training, this is the class for you. If you don't have any dance experience, I would not recommend this class for you. If you're an energetic beginner, give it a try. I'm glad I did!

Okay, as far as I know, it's the only place that offers adult contemporary. Luckily, it's a great class. Adrienne Foley is a beautiful, relevant, and attentive instructor. I am thrilled to have found her class at Zohar. Kristine Elliott's ballet class was challenging and fun. Unfortunately, I'm usually unavailable during her classes. After Adrienne's class on Mondays, a group of flamencos wait to start their class. It's so great to have a studio nearby with several options of dance styles. The studio is down the long drive off of Middlefield and left, once you get to the parking lot. Parking can get hairy at 6pm (parents picking up their kiddos), but if the large lot fills up, there's plenty of street parking.

A couple of the teachers decided to carry on the magic of Kirkpatrick's and open up Better Together Dance Theatre. My daughter started dancing at Better Together 4 years ago in the Tiny Dancer class where her love of dance began (thank you Miss Kelly!!). The teachers/owners are amazing and the environment has made her grow into a confident little girl. This studio is no pressure, no competition just a nurturing place to be yourself, learn, perform and have fun! They have a small holiday showcase as well as a stage performance at the end of the season in June. But this is definitely not a place anyone who wants to become accomplished in dancing would come to. My daughter has been here with this school for 3 years. We're staying, FOR THE TIME BEING, because I don't think she's going for anything more than just leisure dancing and getting a nice posture. However, as she is getting older, I am considering moving her to another school where there are better teachers. Before I talk about the bad, let me say that Vinny Jones and Ommi Pipit-Suksun are AWESOME. They are the only saving grace why I am still sending my daughter to this place. There's however one other teacher that is nice but it's a complete waste of time to be in her class. Unfortunately, we are "forced" to take her class. You see, up to a certain level, students must take at least 2 classes per week and so we are stuck with her class. Honestly, at least 5 moms that I have talked to and their daughters (the students) simply hated that class with her. We're simply there to fulfill the 2-class requirement so as to stay being matriculated in the school. This teacher, B.A., is too old and not physically able to dance anymore. So, all lessons are simply "verbal" instructions, without any demonstration of how a dance move should be. Plus, she plays favorites ... If this school cannot offer enough classes with good teachers and continues to force parents to have to take a certain minimum number of classes per week, we are going to have to find another school. We don't have that much money and time to throw away. Just salaried folks here.

Though they started this problem with an air purifier, it didn't work and finally we had to take her out. In general, this school would probably be suitable only for kids who want a more fun filled and less structured approach experience. My daughter has been attending FDS for several years now and it's the highlight of her week. She is in the Elite competition team at FDS that works hard, and has the dancers joining four competitions throughout the year and a convention event.
