Whoa!!! I just had a carne asada burrito from Salsa Mexican Food and I think it tastes exactly how I remember the first time having real Mexican food as a kid from Zapatas in Paradise Hills in the '90s . Everything from the the red salsa, guacamole, flour tortilla and the meat juice gathering at the bottom of it was the same. I never thought I would experience this again since Zapatas has been closed for years. I've been looking for something like this for a long time. This is my new favorite place. read more

Not a good experience I ordered 3 rolled potato tacos the tortillas and guacamole were not fresh and there was no flavor very bland tasting. The food was thrown together the rice was on too of the beans. On Yelp it says you get 1 free churro with a check in, I kept trying to do it and it wouldn't work. The 1st lady told me in order for them to honor it I had to give them a good review before I had even gotten my food, I should've known then. This was my 1st and last time here. I was so excited to come home and eat my pollo asada chips cause they put a really good amount of guacamole and sour cream. Took a bite and the chicken was so darn DRY. Thanks but no thanks. My daughter's and I just ate everything else but the chicken. Maybe we will try this place again but opt for the carne asada instead. read more

Salsa is my go to spot for breakfast burritos and all things Asada fries. Customer service is always great, wait times are non existent and the salsa is pretty great. Have stuck around since they opened and have seen the different variations of their salsa and they seem to have it figured out. Burritos are a nice size, filling is always on point and I usually ask for guac inside because I just don't know what I'd do without it. Keep up the good work salsa. The machaca breakfast burrito may perhaps be the best breakfast burrito I've ever had, and I've had my share of breakfast burritos.

This place was my favorite in Poway. I understand cost of living is going up for everyone, but I feel like I'm literally getting scammed here now with their burritos. This isn't the first time this has happened but recently their burritos have been "tortilla burritos" with almost no filling in it. It's really sad because this was my favorite place but its definitely changing. I understand businesses have a difficult time but I don't like feeling scammed. read more

Go to school in the plaza next door. The new owners are amazing. Since they have opened it the food is remarkably better. It's delicious clean homemade fresh and the people running it are fantastic when I . looked inside I was amazed at how clean it was. I commented on it and they said they had just purchased the restaurant. The carne asada was delicious and the tortillas were fresh and homemade. The street tacos for a buck fifty nine each were amazing and big enough to order two for lunch. They have a nice covered area to eat. Last night they had music playing outside. It's a great place to stop by with your family and have excellent Mexican food made by a real Mexican family who clearly loves what they are doing. read more

This has to be the most bland Mexican food I've had in a long time. Carne asada burrito had a nice flour tortilla, but the meat was so flavorless that the hot sauce couldn't even save it. There was no pico de gallo in the burrito which might have given it more flavor. Rolled tacos were pretty much the same, lack of spices and just plain blah! read more

So this was the first time my boyfriend and I have been here and we shared the breakfast California burrito and everything was delicious EXCEPT the "homemade" potatoes..they were literally raw..they weren't cooked AT ALL..some of them were actually COLD in a HOT BURRITO..and they were all different sizes(really huge chunks to really small slices)....I'm sorry but that's so gross..ruined the whole burrito..the only time it tasted good is when we had to take out the potatoes. Another thing that kinda bothered us was that when you think of a "California" food anything..you think bacon and avacado or guacamole...the bacon was pretty good..be we had to add the guacamole...it might just be us that, that bothers but I'm sure we're not the only ones that will find that odd. Really disappointed the last time I picked up food here. I noticed that the young guy on the grill dishes out the worst food. If your lucky enough to get the older couple working the food is bomb. I paid $20 for a carne asada burrito and chicken quesadilla. It was all tortilla. I threw half of it away. What a waste of money read more
