There are times, when attention to detail is obvious: in a movie or in a new car that you started liking. Then, there's food. With food, it's often, the quality of ingredients and how they come together with that minute attention to detail. How they feel, from your plateful perspective, awaiting your approval is of course, very personal. Just as a cuppa of high class Darjeeling, or a gourmet Latin American coffee, food revels and is flavorful without restraint when quality ingredients are carefully added. SaltNSugar is one such cafe in Altona Meadows. Just that, I pleasantly discovered it. Accident would not be a pleasant term. Because, quality don't happen by accident. Quality trumps quantity, every time, all times and here, their attention to detail is magnanimous, not by accident but by considered, careful choice. The detail: The attention to detail is this: when you compare SaltNSugar offerings to run-of-the-mill "food" at your nearby outlet, it shines! The place is small, but clean and inviting enough. The variety is not a whole range yet. But the quality on the plate will entice you for more. The quality shines through, with its balance and the resultant flavor. If you wish to try the samosa or the desserts on offer, that would be a start. The dessert offerings are well-balanced in flavor and texture. I can't say that enough, because Hitesh the owner and his wife do care to retain the quality to its original ethnic recipe levels. That's a lot. Seriously. Truth is, they do care a lot. Every spice and ingredient of theirs is thoughtfully chosen from various parts of India. Yes, they have done their due diligence and it shows. Their Dahee-Balla (savory donuts in yoghurt) is a treat because it is fresh and prepared right. Or just try their gulab jamun (dessert doughnut balls) or the Bengali-style milk-based desserts (the Bengal dessert offering is a whole exciting range). It's the revelation, the quality and the effort. The visit: Altona Meadows. Their offerings are thought through. The experience and effort for the result on your plate, shows! Be early, for sometimes, they do sell fast! They say, the proof lies in the pudding. I beg to differ, for the proof often lies on your plate. What could you visit for? Scores high on many items they offer. Rated highly for quality and service. Visit highly recommended for great care for freshness and quality ingredients !! Quality just trumped quantity again. read more
