A popular place they had lots of attentive wait staff. We opted for the fish and chips and it was the best outside of London I'd had. Really good light breading allowed to taste the fish and wonderful home made tartar sauce. Definitely a great place to relax and enjoy a simpler meal! read more

Overwhelmingly disappointed, me and a group of friends went to SaltSpring Inn for breakfast and are not picky eaters. the service was good but slow and we were all very excited after a hour long wait, as the food arrived everything looked good and seemed fine. As we started eating one of us found a hair on our plate which went on to all of us finding hair in our food, simply disgusting. For the price they are charging you would expect to be able to eat your food without picking hair out of it, but let it be known they must be running a barbershop in the back of the kitchen. 1/5 service was good. read more

Incredible food, great menu and exceptional service. I reccomemd the 'Tom Julio'. We are vacationing here from fulford.

My husband and I were there July 8th for lunch. When we arrived, we waited to be seated for about 4-5 minutes or so without even being acknowledged. Even though there were two lady workers just chatting. We were seated by a young guy who was also our server. My husband and I both ordered the clubhouse with fries and my husband had a coffee. I was fine with the water. In the meantime other guest did come in and he was also taking their orders. We waited about 10 minutes and still my husband did not get his coffee. I had to actually ask if he could get his coffee. Which ended up coming a minute or so before our so called clubhouses arrived. Either the cook is trying to get brownie points on saving on food cost or they really clearly don't know what a clubhouse is, and should rename the sandwich to BLT with chicken. For this experience, we won't be back. read more

In all my years, I have never encountered anyone more hospitable than the owner of this inn. He is so kind that it is almost disconcerting at first, until you realize that he is the model of sincerity. In reviewing the inn, I am excluding the restaurant entirely, as we didn't have the opportunity to dine there. The building is old, but has been sympathetically restored/updated. Be prepared for the fact that the building is old, as you cannot marry modern expectations to an old institution. We had a room with en-suite, but many of the rooms share a collective washroom. We loved the old world charm of the building, and for the money, it is the only game in town. The building is in the heart of Ganges, so you must resign yourself to a wake-up call early in the morning when traffic begins to build. Our room faced the sea, but the other side of the building doesn't offer anything but a parking lot for a view. You are steps away from everything of note in Ganges. I'd happily return, though I'd probably only do so if I had earplugs. read more

*restaurant review* A lot of the more negative reviews seem to be in regards to the dinner service, so it makes sense why they are very non-reflective of my experience. My girlfriend and I poked out heads in at about 11:10 hoping to still get brunch, despite the fact that it ends at 11. They said they could still sneak an order in which was very kind. We sat on the patio and I ordered the salmon scramble which was delicious - full of salmon and seasoned well. The potatoes were crispy and tasty as well. We were happy with our food but did get a little impatient while waiting for the bill, but mostly because we got a little chilly on the patio. read more

A pleasant restaurant with bar with seven hotel rooms above is centrally located in the small and walkable town of ganges. The restaurant is more like 4.5 stars: service is fine, atmosphere pleasant, and the food is executed perfectly fine, it is a comfortable enough place to amble downstairs for brekkie. The handful of rooms above are renovated, clean, and stylish, & lacking any excessive space, furniture, closets, phones, or other accoutrement. We were 1.)surprised at how quiet the rooms were despite their location directly over bar, 2.)happy with the clean and always empty shared bathroom experience, 3.)very pleased with the tasteful decor, especially considering how Holly Hobby most of the rest of the b&b's on the island looked. We would very happily stay here again. It is probably the best option on the island for those who like walking around this pleasant town, and anyone saddled with a palate that is offended by cheap rural 80's farmhouse b&b's. read more

When we arrived we were not greeted for 3 or 4 minutes. Even tho there seemed to plenty of staff. We had a reservation. Eventually sat It took 10 minutes before drink order taken and then several minutes for drink order to arrive. Servers seemed cold and distracted. Food was tasty and arrived in a reasonable time. Staff seemed to lighten up by the end of our meal I would suggest they should get customers a drink quicker and lighten up with a smile read more

Wasn't a first pick, but glad the first choice was packed to capacity. Warm and inviting, the fire place screams cozy winter evenings at the local brew, but it was for lunch that brought us in. A lunch menu large enough to satisfy every appetite. I had the BLT Avocado and it was filled to capacity with avocado...a lesson most places could use. In the end my lunch paled in comparison to my friend's burger. A handmade patty served alongside what can only be called the most amazing home fries ever made. They were so perfect, no soggy skins, no greasy fingers. They were just crispy, velvety potato goodness that doesn't come along often enough. So few occasions does the perfect fried potato happen that I beg who ever made this plate maintains this exacting standard and brings shame to all the fry cooks who pass off soggy fries in an effort to be more efficient. read more

Great little hotel with cozy dining area, cozy rooms, and healthy food options. Last time I was in town I caught a super late ferry in and they were happy to accommodate a late night meal for me. Some amazing pumpkin/squash soup and sweet potato fries, I was extremely blessed by their kindness. The kuerig coffee pot at the end of the hall stocked with Marley organic coffee was a wonderful thing to have access to in the morning. They sent us up the room with glassware , limes and tonic water so we could enjoy some Sheringhams Gin in our room. Truly so nice of them, and they made our stay extremely special. They had a fire place in our room, but we didn't use it. On a cold night I bet that would have been amazing though! Absolutely disgusting. Early evening, only half the table filled. Bartender Tom also served as our attendant. Took about ten minutes to realize we were seated and we needed menus. My wife had the fried chicken. Said it was moist and tasty. Cole slaw way overdone with citrus flavor. I had the pear, walnut and goat cheese salad. About a half pair sliced in the salad. Maybe a 1/4 cup of cheese and even less candied walnuts and craisins. Leaf lettuce coated in balsamic vinegar/citrus mess. Tom checked on us once during the meal. Filled our "diet cola" once. Not the brand we requested. Took about ten minutes to figure out we were done with meal before asking about dessert; another five to get payment processed. No thank you just a credit card machine left at our table. What really disturbed us - the manager walked past us several times - never asked how we were doing, good meal, etc. even after noticing the delays and lack of attention. Big mistake. There are way too many other restaurants within a block of this location to choose from. read more

The service wasn't bad but it was just okay. It doesn't look much on the outside but the interior is still pretty nice and cozy even though it's not too unique but do have a home feeling to it. The food is good but nothing special. Good for like breakfast or when you want something easy/simple or light but nothing fancy. Reasonable price and a few spots so reservations aren't always needed. Good for kids, seniors, if you're alone, small or medium groups, larger groups are fine too just not as convenient or comfortable in my opinion. Walking distance to many resorts or inn (well it's an inn itself anyways), it's an easy walk too. read more

I was thoroughly disgusted by this restaurant. There was a band playing & party happening this night & it was NOT planned well; they did not staff nearly enough people covering the floor. It took 20 minutes to get a seat, 30 minutes to get served (after my partner went & found someone) & another 45 minutes to get the food. No one offered a re-fill of our drinks. I ordered the oven roasted chicken quesadilla and as i finished it, The last bite was a full bone, cartilage and connective tissue. The coleslaw it came with wasn't mixed properly; there were lumps of mayo...then the next bite tasted like lavender....it was gross. I complained to the waitress and her excuse was "well we roast the chickens here". I have no idea how that excuses negligent prep work. I was not offered any discount. I left without leaving a tip...which for me is rare. In fact - this is the only time I've ever done that. I will never go back. read more

This really is a great place to stay on Salt Spring Island, I can see why they have won awards from TripAdvisor. I plan to return whenever I'm there, here's why: -Rooms were very nicely decorated and were a decent size, bed was very comfortable, TVs in room and a fan, also a sink and mirror, which are quite handy when using shared washrooms. -Shared washrooms and shower rooms, one for men and one for women, were kept very clean and were easy to use. Towels are provided in rooms. -It is conveniently located to all the stores and shops in Ganges harbour, the famous Sat market is just down the street and Thrifty's is right across the street. -Fairly quiet (it is on a busy road in town, but that is what makes it convenient). -Great restaurant downstairs and you get free coffee and tea when staying. There is a nice outdoor deck and garden patio. -Friendly and helpful staff. -It was super easy to make a booking, and they have a 48 hour cancellation policy. Bookings must be a minimum of 2 days. -Very reasonable pricing when you consider the cost of other hotels and B&Bs on the island. -Fast free WIFI included Don't hesitate to book, as I suspect they book up fast!. read more

This hotel is located in the heart of Ganges, the main town on Sal Spring Island. The location is ideal for anyone wanting to walk around town. No need to drive. The hotel does not offer parking. We were able to easily find free parking a half block away. Despite the lack of hotel designated parking, parking was not a problem. The one thing I was nervous about was the shared bathroom and showers. No, each room does not have its own bathroom (although rooms have sinks). To my surprise, this wasn't that bad. I stayed here for 2 nights and never had a problem with the washroom being occupied when I needed to us it. Same with the showers. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Stayed at the inn above so decided to have brunch here in the morning. The service is casual but prompt and friendly and the clientele ranges from young couples to solo travellers to senior get togethers - a good mix of locals and travellers. I ordered an eggs blackstone benny and it came out just as it should. The benny had a decent amount of bacon and it wasn't drowning in hollandaise. The homefries were a good portion, crispy and flavourful. My husband ordered the ciabatta with maple bacon, tomato, lettuce and it was a tasty sandwich that even satisfied him though I felt my benny had more food! The inn gets it right, stick with staple brunch foods but do it right. read more

so much love here I don't know where to start!!! the FOOD is some of the BEST on the island. For sure!!!! Being vegetarian can get a bit boring, but here you'll always find something super YUMMY if you stay overnight (& you should)... you'll find the rates awesome, the beds super comfy, & the coffee is always ready. We stay with the kids & they're always up for it. Jereny & the staff are amazing. So friendly & always there to help with things to do, places to see & whatever else! We had a great experience here tonight. The goat cheese/pear salad with grilled chicken was perfect. There was a good amount of goat cheese, every bite was good. My husband had the jambalaya and said it was excellent. He has had it often in different restaurants/places so has a good point of reference. The service was fast and friendly. My husband and I had dinner here last night! The ambience, service and food were top notch! We both had the fried chicken and I had mashed potatoes instead of fries. Coleslaw and a biscuit also came with the meal and both were yummo! Deelish!!! The only warning I have is that they serve 3 pieces of chicken so be prepared to take home leftovers!!! Had a group dinner here on a Thursday night. we told them when some of us had to leave to catch the ferry - they said no problem - so we placed our orders right away. 25 minutes later I had to walk around and find a waiter to see when our dinners would be out - waiter disappears for 10 more min, comes out, asks which orders need to come out - disappears and then 15 min later food appears - salad/app/dinner - now we only have less than 30 min to wolf down our food - the only reason I was not supremely P.O.d was that there were enough people in the group to eat what we could not (whatever was edible), calamari appy was soggy, my fish special was overcooked to the point some of the flesh when I bit into it was so dried out it was the texture of jerky....drinks way overpriced and take too long to come out as well....there seemed to be enough wait staff around so not sure what the problem was with dining room service and bar service - but the food was a waste of money read more
