Still great! This is our third year with this company and we have had great luck every time. This time, the southern herd wasn't close but we saw a band that was part of the northern herd up close! Thanks again to Captain Henry and Captain Brad and the team for a great evening.

Captain Henry made the trip! Fun road trip to the East Shore and to see the ponies We arranged for the Salt water Pony Tour and didn't realize how good our plan was. Our boat was a smooth quiet ride making it relaxing and entertaining. He limits the group to 6 and it was great asking questions and hearing all about the ponies and the area. I sat in the sun by choice the rest of the group chose shade. I think on a windy day or choppy water any other boat would be miserable We went close to high tide and Captain Henry maneuvered his boat back in the grassland inlets to get closer to the ponies and eagle We watched a pod of dolphins play around the boat and followed them from a far for a bit. I hope we can visit again and we'd choose Saltwater Pony Tours again

This was an awesome boat tour around Chincoteague and Assateague! Our Captain Henry and Amber were great and very knowledgeable. They were also super excited to give us the information about Chincoteague and the wild horses. Would definitely go again with their crew!

The most wonderful experience! We were so fortunate to see dolphins, shore birds, a juvenile bald eagle, and Chincoteague ponies! Henry was so knowledgeable and gracious. The boat was extra comfy and immaculate. This was something we've wanted to do since childhood! Thank you, Salt Water Pony Tours and Henry! 3 sisters, from London, NYC & CA, whose mother grew up on the Eastern Shore

We had an excellent experience on our Salt Water Pony Tour this past weekend! Our Captain, Jake, was great; the boat was very nice; and the sights were amazing. We took a 4:30 pm tour on a Sunday in early October, and saw dolphins, bald eagles, great blue herons, and, most amazingly, wild ponies, up close! I highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic cruise with Captain Casey on July 12, 2023. Beautiful day for a boat tour! Great weather, calm waters & nice breeze. Of course the main attraction was the ponies. We were able to get up close to a herd and take many many pictures! Captain Casey explained all about the ponies' history, the three separate herds and many more interesting details. Captain Casey was very knowledgeable about Assateague & Chincoteague Islands and answered any questions thoroughly. He showed us the Pony Swim route and provided details of the swim & auction. And we also got to see a pod of dolphins with a baby dolphin!! Other main attractions such as the light house & NASA research facility were also highlighted. It was a wonderful cruise & I would recommend them for all ages. Go make a lasting memory for just you or your family!

Great tour with Captain Spencer! We got to see the trifecta! Ponies, dolphins and an eagle! Captain Spencer shared lots of information about the island and pony penning day, recommended some delicious restaurants, it was a wonderful time! The boat was clean and comfortable! Definitely recommend this tour!

What fun best day and a great captain! We saw wild ponies dolphins and a bald eagle. Was relaxing out on the water and the breeze was great since It was hot and humid outside! Upon boarding the boat the captain frowned with our small cooler lol informed us eating was not allowed on his boat but he would make an exception lol - his boat was spotless and he was fearful of crumbs. I get that and assured him not one crumb was left behind nor an empty water bottle. His reply was everyone says that lol. At the end since I'm not everyone there was not a crumb to be found anyway and his boat was just as pristine when we got off as it was when we boarded. Rest assured I pointed that all out to him as I gave him a generous tip. He was very informative and made for a very smooth fun day and I was not offended in the least about his fear of crumbs it just showed me he had a lot of pride in his vessel and that was greatly appreciated. We opted for the private cruise and it was worth the price! Have great pictures and videos that will last a lifetime best part was the peaceful still ess on the water looking at the ponies and wildlife/ it was all just perfect

Captain Jack was a great host! We saw so many ponies! This far exceeded our expectations! We would highly recommend this trip!

We went in with the idea that we will have a great trip on the water and learn a little about the area. Fingers crossed to see the horses, that is what mom waited all these years for! We saw part of the heard on the way out from a distance and were happy with that. Then we saw a pair of eagles and dolphins and a group of pelicans and leaned about wallops island. On the way back the heard was closer and we got the experience of a lifetime. They came closer and closer and we were in awe. Captain John was great and the rest of the staff were very friendly and the boat was very clean. We also got a special shell from a little entrepreneur!

Although it was cloudy and raining, John reassured us that we would have better chance of seeing wildlife in such a weather. He took us to interesting places around the island including the lighthouse, oyster beds, mariner's cross, and popular bird nesting grounds (egrets, pelicans, laughing gulls, black backed gulls, ducks). We also saw the ponies from afar. Overall, this was a great memorable exprience! P.S. only suggestion: could rain coats be provided to customers in a rainy weather?

We are beginning kayakers and new to the area. We were also closing on our first home and they were extremely flexible about needing a last minute change. We paid for a 90 min private tour (2 adults, single kayaks) because that's what available, and we certainly got our money's worth. Basia met us on time and got us settled right away. She offered us the choice of a private tour, or for less money we could go on our own - we opted to have her as a guide. She knew the channels and tide like the back of her hand, giving us excellent instruction before we set off. Our kayaks were padded and in great condition. She was mindful of how much stamina we had crossing the channel and offered breaks. We were very glad we arranged for a guide because at one point I went the wrong way and got a bit stuck on an oyster bed - she told me exactly what to do and what not to do. We saw lots of rare wildlife which Basia knew lots of information about each species, plus had extensive knowledge of island history. She showed us where we could choose a souvenir shell and even offered to take a picture of us with the lighthouse. We didn't see any ponies because we opted to go later in the day after they had moved inland, but luckily Basia told us where to look on the island later when we went hiking in the wildlife preserve. She explained how to tell where people's private oyster beds were, and also where the huge mussels are that are fair game at low tide. We can't wait to go kayaking with them again, highly recommend! Tips: Do wear water shoes and bring a windbreaker, sunscreen is a must. Don't stick your hands on the oyster beds - you will get torn up. And DON'T give your business to any competitors who can't guarantee your experience - or who chew you out over the phone when you decide not to go with them.

They wanted us to pay $95 to park at a little gravel road and also wanted to charge us $75 per kayak to put our OWN kayaks in at a PUBLIC boat ramp. They use fear and intimidation to try to get you to pay it, claiming the water is dangerous. It is not at all. Then on swim day, they were using the public boat launch for their own customers when they should have their own. We also witnessed the tour guide leave a member of the group back at the ramp while she sat there sobbing because she had no clue what to do and wasn't even holding the paddles correctly. Other people helped her out and they told the tour guide but he said she could just go on the next group. But what if she had friends in that group? Absolutely horrendous way to treat your customers when they pay $250 per kayak. We also witnessed a tour guide trying to cross the channel on Friday and the coast guard yelled at him multiple times to get back. He stated he 'knew someone over there' but they continued to yell at him and he finally got back. These people only care about the money, not their customers and clearly do not know what they're doing. Do not recommend. You can easily park at East Side public boat launch ramp with a $20 launch permit from the town hall. Don't be intimidated by these people.
