I started with the grapefruit cocktail, followed by the hamachi crudo and the lobster roll. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The hamachi crudo was especially impressive, and the lobster roll was everything you'd hope for when dining in Boston. The service was excellent, the food was outstanding, and the overall experience exceeded expectations. Saltie Girl definitely lives up to the hype in some ways, but not in others. The standout for us was the $75 tinned fish platter. It's honestly one of the better values on the menu. You get to pick three tins, and it also comes with lobster, bread, butter, pickled vegetables, and other accompaniments. It ended up being a really fun experience, especially if you've never explored high-quality tinned seafood before. We also got the lobster roll and the snow crab toast. The lobster roll was exactly what you'd want.. warm, buttery, packed with lobster, and on a perfectly toasted bun. The crab toast was another winner and disappeared way too fast. My biggest complaint had nothing to do with the food though. There were fruit flies everywhere. They kept flying around our table and landing near the food throughout the meal. At a casual seafood shack I'd probably shrug it off, but at a restaurant charging these prices with this kind of upscale vibe, it felt pretty unacceptable and honestly took away from the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and would come back for the tinned fish platter alone, but I hope they get the bug problem under control. Pros: The warm lobster roll was tasty, buttery, and generously filled. My only gripe is that it comes with a bag of chips rather than French fries, which are standard at many lobster roll spots. Given the price point, fries would have felt more appropriate. The whole fried black bass with ponzu and cilantro, served with steamed rice, was excellent. You'll need to be comfortable navigating bones, but as Asians who grew up eating whole fish, that wasn't an issue for us. As for the ambiance, it felt like a blend of boho Miami chic and Tulum--bright, airy, and filled with soft pastel tones. A beautiful space for lunch. Cons: Unfortunately, both the Spring Crab Carbonara and Lobster Fra Diavolo missed the mark. While each dish was generous with crab and lobster meat, the pasta itself was a disappointment. Bucatini should have a firm, al dente bite. Instead, both plates arrived noticeably overcooked and soggy. No one orders bucatini expecting mush swimming in garlic tomato sauce. Beyond the texture issue, both pasta dishes lacked something. Call it zest, depth, or that certain je ne sais quoi, but neither dish delivered much flavor. Dare I say they were somewhat bland. At $38 and $45 respectively, that was particularly disappointing. Service was equally underwhelming. Despite having a 12:45 p.m. reservation, the hostess seated us at a four-top closest to the kitchen. There were numerous vacant four-top tables in more desirable locations throughout the dining room, yet we were placed there. We didn't complain, but all of us wondered, "Why this table?" Our server, Christy L., was adequate but hardly memorable. As visitors from Los Angeles, we've grown accustomed to servers making a little conversation--asking what brings you to town, offering recommendations, or simply establishing some rapport. Christy's interaction amounted to, "Hi, I'm your server. What can I get you?" and little else. She rarely checked back and never made much effort to engage. Because of that, we didn't feel the suggested gratuity options of 20%, 25%, or 30% on the payment screen were warranted. We left a standard 18% tip. Bottom Line: If you're craving excellent fried clams or a good lobster roll, this place is worth a visit. What an EXCELLENT spot to eat at in our first day in Boston! My fiancée and came open minded since this isn't the type of seafood we eat and WOW we were pleasantly surprised. First off, we usually get the ick from oysters, but these were incredibly fresh and so tasty that we changed our mind about them! After that we had their clam chowder and its flavors were so rich! The small potatoes in them were a sweet touch as well. We also got some caviar with burrata cheese that was delectable and a great taste before the main part of our meal which was the warm lobster roll. Although not traditional it had great flavor along with the perfect creaminess! The fried clam was also a nice touch. But the moules-frites were a bit of a letdown as they were too salty and had soggy fries; the tartare was covered in a decadent pile of Parmesan, but was also too salty. Well, where to start. This was our second time there, same time of the year, second year. We made reservations as soon as we could because our last visit was almost perfection. This year we visited right after a RedSox game and it had poured the entire day. We were cold and wet so they escorted us to the back bar. I hope we didn't offend anyone by not being in fancy clothes. Anyways, we were sat at the bar, about five minutes later, we were acknowledged and menus placed in front of us. Took another 10 minutes to get water and a drink order to get us started. Short time after that, we got to out in our food order and we are glad we did because right about that time our bartender's friend walked in and all of a sudden all the attention went to him. Our clam chowder arrived and it was complete perfection, silky smooth was with a delicate fried clam as an extra treat. It was sooo good. I wish I would have stopped there, instead we also ordered cheeseburgers. The fries were underwhelming and limp, the cheeseburger was a disaster. I'm sorry, I wish I could say anything but that but it just didn't work. The burger patty itself was made out of a meat blend, it felt more like nerves, ligaments and other weird meat elements and to make matters worse, wasn't cooked good, was not allowed to rest instead leaking its fluids all over the bottom bun and severely underseasoned if seasoned at all. I took one bite and couldn't even swallow it. The "fried lobster" on top was chewy and honestly just bad. What a terrible thing to do to a lobster. The cocktail was good, after all it's their $30 martini with a caviar garnish. The bartender made sure his buddy was taken care of, the rest of us at the bar had slow service. The bread was warm and toasty, and the roll was absolutely overflowing with lobster. I swapped in the truffle fries and they were to die for. I was definitely victim to their cute advertising, the inviting location, and the cheeky name. I read all of the reviews and saw that the service is notably bad. That gentle abuse comes with the chic ambiance and high end pricing. I opted to ignore the reviews and try anyway. As I was warned, the front of the house was blatantly rude, the server was sarcastic and inattentive, and the food was mid. The meal was also unnecessarily drawn out. We started with drinks and I ordered the "lychee martini". I've had lychee martinis all over the country and the world, there wasn't even a hint of lychee. It tasted like lemonade and vodka. Instead of offering a different drink or even validating my concern, I was gaslit into thinking I was crazy. I know what lychee tastes like and that wasn't it. She just kept offering to "bring more lychee mixer". That immediately put a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively. I was told the oysters the table ordered couldn't be separated even though we were getting a fair amount, and it was haphazardly served. It felt chaotic and disorganized. We largely ordered apps, the Moules frites and the halibut. The entrees were fine. I just feel like the lack of hospitality and overall customer service really just ruined the mood so much we didn't care about the food. It definitely didn't warrant the very exorbitant pricing. This was one of the only experiences that I decided I needed to leave more than I wanted dessert. Two painstaking hours after sitting down, we finally got the check and had never been happier to go home. Would not repeat the mistake again. Definitely an overhyped tourist trap. read more

My wife and I had lunch here the other day and I was interested in trying a few different dishes including the tinned fish that is their specialty. I'm not saying she was wrong but it definitely was too much for us. The tinned smoked salmon was very good but very salty. The tinned scallops were ... well we took their word they were scallops. The highlights were the clam chowder. If you like it thick and filling with an abundance of chopped clams, well this is for you. The other highlight was the lobster roll which rivals (and I have never said this) Neptune. Since 2006 Neptune has been my favorite and now I'm not so sure. Anyway the chowder was soooo filling we almost could not enjoy the lobster roll which staff had thoughtfully cut in half so we could share. My only complaint, and this is my fault, was that I was never presented with a guest check. I was simply handed the credit card matching with a very high but somewhat expected number which I used to pay the bill. Server was very nice otherwise and I don't suspect shenanigans. I was visiting Boston for a long weekend and Saltie Girl was one of the spots a friend of mine had recommended for their lobster roll. I made a reservation for a Saturday lunch. We arrived and were seated immediately in their cozy upstairs dining area. There are two other larger dining spaces, but the one that we sat in was much more intimate and calm, which I appreciated. We ordered a couple glasses of wine, oysters, and burrata with caviar to start. The oysters were all very fresh, and the burrata was so creamy and paired well with the caviar. We shared a warm lobster roll, and it was absolutely delicious. We easily could have had one each -- it wasn't too big. The brioche bread was perfectly toasted and buttery, and the lobster was so fresh and flavorful. It was the best lobster roll I had in a long time. We capped off the meal with an espresso martini (with Bailey's) and a latte, both of which hit the spot. We had a really lovely time and enjoyed our experience. The staff was attentive and friendly. I was a little cautious when booking a resy for Saltie Girl, bc it seems very popular in a ~TikTok influencer-tourist~ way. But I'm happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised! The table started off with some apps, as we do, to get a good sample of the offerings. Caviar dip with homemade kettle chips, white wine garlic butter moules frites, and classic raw oysters. For the main, we split a whole grilled rainbow trout. Everything was a hit, other than the caviar dip, which got mixed reviews from the table, and the fries that accompanied the mussels (kinda soggy and lacked proper seasoning). The trout was the star of the show that night, with a tajin lime glaze, it was a unique twist on a classic freshwater fish. For cocktails, we got the Shiso, a botanical gin cocktail with soju and yuzu, and the Grapefruit, a vodka cocktail with aperitivo, honey, and citrus juices.
