We had asked to learn as much about sailing as we could, so we got to work crewing the boat, hoisting sails, tying knots, manning the rudder, and learning what "lower the boom" means. Under supervision, my son and I sailed all the way back, keeping the sails trimmed and the heading aligned with our waypoints. Great fun. It was wonderful to be out in the quiet where the only sounds are the hull slicing through the waves and the sheets in the wind. Saw lots of dolphins, too. The Captain is a character, friendly as all get out, and happy to explain anything that you might be curious about. He's passionate about conservation and the environment, and he knows the history of boating and the bay. He may try talking you into getting a handsome sailor Polynesian tattoo, but but who knows - maybe you might want one.

Captain Thomas was delightful and did a great job making sure we saw plenty of wildlife. We cruised close to a rookery and a large flock of roseate spoonbills took flight. It was a truly awe inspiring sight. I've seen other reviews complaining about the boat but I didn't book this sailing trip to pussyfoot around in a yacht. We all got to help with boat a little bit and we got fantastic photos. It was a super fun and relaxing excursion.

And there were plenty of other birds, including Tri-colored herons and Reddish egrets. Not to mention ospreys and hawks galore. But the captain and the mate were what made it special. They were fun, funny, and incredibly informative. They also made sure we were comfortable and happy. They leant us nice binoculars and had a telescope they would focus on the far-away birds and let us look into. In short, they really cared. They were as nutty about birds as their customers, which is what you want and need for an experience like this. The captain was an aviary scholar who happened to captain a tour boat. Perfect.

Great trip; highly recommended…read more The purpose of our weekend in the area was to see whooping cranes, and the company guarantees a sighting - they know where the cranes hang out and we saw at least a dozen pairs. We saw many other birds (the captain called them out) and dolphins. The boat holds at least 30 guests and has both open observation decks and enclosed seating below. Wear non-slip shoes and bring binoculars, a hat, and a jacket. There are small toilets on board, and we were served drinks and basic snacks. They have about a dozen loaner binoculars if you do not have a pair.

No fish, hated to give us good bait like we were stupid! All over my wife and constantly& tell me how to fish all freaking day. Just a conceded, idiot that strokes his own meat like he the man all day!!! My boat the best!!"only one of its kind ",my talk show the best!!, I report all in the world of fishing!!, I run this bay!! Get out of my way !! What a terrible $400 shit show.. Trust me move on ! This guy out for himself and riding his poor wife's bank roll from the location shop she owns. My imagination is a little too wild for the open sea and the thought of sharks and wild animals bigger than me freaks me out! When we first started going out on the water, I was nervous. Capt. Doug was awesome though, he gently broke us into deeper and choppier water making sure that both or legs and stomachs could handle the constant movements. It didn't take very long before my husband caught his first fish. Less than a minute actually! He dropped his line in the water, and BAAM!! There was a giant Redfish on the hook. Well after that, we were ready for more. Further and deeper we went until we ended up next to two large shrimping boats. That's when the fun really started. Kingfish, sharks, dolphin, sea turtles. It was like they were putting on a show. I have never had very good experiences at the beach, better yet on the water, but Capt. Doug really knew how to entertain and keep the energy up. I would recommended him to anyone, young or old, man or woman, experienced fishermen or newbies like myself. We had a blast.

Having been employed at the Disability Office at one of the Colleges in San Antonio for over five years, I became very familiar with the Federal and Texas ADA LAWS! Further, I am a 100% Disabled Veteran with mobility issues. Your small pet that is decked out with a chest cover that says ADA is not classified as a Service Animal. Look it up on the ADA website and you will find a wealth of information on Service Animals. FYI: I am a Dog lover! Doberman or German Shorthaired are my favorite! Please research the laws before you go. Here is some general information I copied from a website; "Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Texas law, a service animal is defined as a dog (or in some cases, a miniature horse) individually trained to perform specific work or tasks directly related to a person's disability. Emotional support animals are not protected as service animals." When you see people at HEB or Walmart or any other business, with a small animal in their cart or being carried, you can pretty much bet that they are not covered by the ADA. Please take the time to read ADA Laws. One more thing. Any Business can "Trespass" you from their property for any reason. Once they do you must leave the premises.

The lights on the water were excellent, but all I was pulling up on the sabiki were tiny bait fish -- piggy perch, small whiting, you name it. Basically running a daycare for baby fish under those lights. Dropped $20 on croaker and got nothing out of it. Even tried the artificial fish bites, and still just fed the little guys. Didn't see anyone else land anything worth bragging about either. Honestly, just way too many people for not much action.
