Friday 7:30pm: I made a reservation an hour earlier, I didn't really need to, but better safe than sorry. Storstad's lively front bar area was blasting some Euro Electronic dance music, and the beautiful but chatty crowd was further adding more decibels to the already loud volume. Fortunately, the rear finer dining area is significantly quieter, and even romantic, despite the bass bumping in the background. From the phone reservation to the end of the meal, the staff was friendly throughout, and spoke English better than your average college-less American. 105SEK($11.67) Soup of the Day: Goulash. Best gawd damn Goulash I've ever had in my life. Best in Europe. I should've gone for the larger bowl for 175SEK. Goulash is typically blue collar filler food for the masses, but the additional Swedish spices elevated this average dish to something fresh, innovative, and effing delicious. 275SEK(30.55) Artic Char...I never find this fish in America, so I get when I can. Initially this seemed expensive. But in America, you only get one 4-6oz fish fillet...in Sweden you get 3 4-6oz fillets...YES!!! Cooked perfectly with a nice crispy outside, yet still so marvelously moist on the inside. The accompanying "champagne" sauce danced in sync with the natural delicious flavors of the fish. (Note: the wife ordered the 145SEK "vegetarian" variety plate, it was okay). 475SEK($52) French red wine...I can't remember the name of the wine, but it was the cheapest red bottle available...it was good, and a better value than ordering 4 glasses of wine. Again, this was our last night in Sweden, celebrate! While this all seems expensive to the American perspective, note that the prices includes taxes, and Swedes only expect a 5-10% tip for full service restaurants. Swedish workers are typically paid a living wage. So this is really not much different than dining out in America. I'm 90% sure we were the only tourists in here, everyone else was speaking Swedish. The unique menu offered lots of different types of food and we got pretty adventurous. We all wanted to try the reindeer heart. Although, as Americans we could not stop making jokes about Rudolf. In the end, it tasted like turkey bacon. Who knew?! Also, the mushroom toast was delicious. For entrees, we ordered the meatballs, a fish dish and lamb. They were all wonderful. Lots of locals here and the meal was worth the long walk from the tunnelbana.

It has pretty much everything a person could want who eats plant based from coffee, baked goods, sweet treats to cheeses and beyond. The place itself is very clean, organized, well lit, and the coffee area has a chill vibe. I spoke with a couple of the employees and they were both very friendly and helpful. If I lived in this area this place would be a regular stop for me! So, if you are looking for a complete vegan friendly place and you are in this neighborhood this is the place for you.

You have to make reservations ahead, since the restaurant is small. The restaurant is owned by a blind man, who decided that he should not let his disability stop him from achieving his dreams. He bought a restaurant, painted all the windows black and installed a "double door" system to ensure that the actual restaurant is in fact Pitch Black. The bar area is small and have lights, so does the restrooms. The kitchen staff are not blind and the kitchen has light as well So, for the experience; It was by far one of the (no punt intended) eye opening experiences I've had. The waiter leads your into the restaurant to your table, instructs you where the chair is, where everything is located on the table and so on, and after that - you're on your own. It was very uncomfortable in the beginning, almost to the point of asking to leave uncomfortable. It is absolutely pitch black. Your senses are working to their fullest to try to get all impressions around you. After a while I noticed myself sitting with my eyes closed, it put a lot of strain on the eyes trying to find something to focus on, without no luck of course. The food was good. When the plates arrived you had no idea what it was, or even where it was on the plate. I put an empty fork in my mouth more than once (thinking I had something on it) and had to use my hands to feel where the food was on the plate. The same went for filling up the glass, yes, you had to open the water bottle by yourself and fill up the glass as well. Managed to do it without pouring water all over myself and my neighbour across the table. It's truly something I recommend for everyone. Maybe not if you're scared of the dark though. But if you're searching for a different kind of experience and are open to challenging yourself and stepping outside of your comfort zone. This is definitely something you should do. You're using all your senses in a new way, while getting a first hand experience of what its like to be blind. The owner said; "In here, I'm not the one disabled" .. I was amazed how they could move around, placing the food on the tables, playing music, singing, and most of all - memorising all of us by our first names. Amazing!

We got there just for opening at 11.30 and servers were just running around and not very attentive. Anything but the customer seemed more important, such as laying out cutlery and napkins on empty tables, rather than tending to waiting patrons. There is one dish per day for the discounted price of 135 SEK. A la carte would otherwise cost you almost twice as much. Three types of complimentary bread served, but no bread plates for some reason. The chicken with polenta was average. Served with asparagus and spinach. It was a bit luke warm when it was served. The weekly vegetarian option was purple sweet potatoes with onions and leek along with a chive-like dip. The baked onion was hard to cut. The crispy pork was not crispy at all. A mere cube of fat. More than half was pure fat. Hideous. Served with peppercorn sauce, a carrot and potatoes. These were ok. The credit card system was down and staff were running around like headless chickens. People were asking for the check and were just kept waiting for ages. Our waitress was completely frazzled. Luckily, we had enough cash combined between us to cover the bill. Good service would have been to offer a glass of wine or dessert while people waited for their system to get up and running. Also, this doesn't really matter, but our waitress spoke no Swedish at all, which is unusual among wait staff in Sweden.

I'll admit, I only give it one star but the appetizers and apple desert were really pretty good! Despite liking those, I do think this restaurant failed miserably on many levels. Everything was a bit worn down and the walk up looked like a deserted outdoor summer bar with everything closed up for winter. It was all very unattractive. We entered inside and there was no one there to greet us for some time. We stood there awkwardly staring at seated guests and waiters walking by and ignoring us. There were dirty electric chords all over the floor that also looked very hazardous and careless. My sambo and I sat down to eat and I noticed my champagne glass was chipped. Then I went to take a sip of another drink and I sliced a little into my lip because the other one was also chipped right at the top! The appetizers came and mine was pretty good, my significant other was really loving his. Then, at the main course I was served a creamed cabbage dish that really turned my stomach. Everything went downhill. I really tried to eat it and give it a chance, but it was so slimy/ crunchy and half cooked it felt like I was eating something spoiled. The sharp heated sourness of the balsamic on top of whatever flavorless slime was around the cabbage made me even more nauseous. My significant other was ok and liking his main course meat dish though, so..... maybe meat is the better choice here. Lastly, I got the chocolate cake and my boyfriend got the apple pastry for dessert. I tasted his and it was wonderful! Mine was so hard and dry I couldn't even cut it! I stabbed my fork as far as it would go into the middle in an effort to tame it, but it got like really stuck on."Only the once and future king" could of taken it offt! Lol! (Yassss... that was a "Sword and The Stone" reference. Haha!). I guess, if you go for dinner here.... stick to only meat dishes and the apple pastry desert. Vegetarians, you are seriously out of luck! YUCK!
