There is a huge focus here on both the vertical and the horizontal-- The sermons preached are bible-based and relevant, teaching the truth, love and grace of Jesus. The worship team intercedes powerfully for the congregation and invites the presence of the Holy Spirit into our midst. The children's ministry is vibrant and inclusive of special needs, a place where kids learn to fall in love with Jesus for the very first time. We appreciate the depth of lessons that are steeped in faith while still remaining age-appropriate and fun. After service every Sunday, everyone is welcome to stay for fellowship and enjoy a free brunch that is open to the community. We are also grateful for the direct discipleship from our pastor, who makes every single person feel like they are the most important person in the room. Pastor Jon is a man after God's own heart who will take the time to talk with people, get to know them, laugh and pray together. In addition to building faith through Sunday services and small groups, the church also hosts a monthly prayer call where we can stand in the gap and intercede for the Big C church, our community and individual prayer requests. Grassroots worship nights occur quarterly and are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Our family has only been attending One Church for a short time but from the moment that we first walked through the doors, have felt welcome, loved, and seen. But perhaps what I love most about One Church is its heart for the local community. Pastor Jon recently preached a message on moving towards the vulnerable and seeing them as image-bearers in Christ. From hosting free car washes (with all proceeds donated given to local teachers), park cleanups, volunteering at local nursing homes and even hosting a free music camp for youth, the church leads with excellence in touching the hearts of those around them. There is a way to serve the world through every vocation or role we have. Metro is open to people of all faith or religious backgrounds and at the same time centered on knowing Jesus Christ. Some of the ways Metro engages with the local community is through partnering with local small businesses through Cash Mobs and East Harlem Buy Local initiatives. My family found this church after moving from California four years ago and have really found ourselves planting our roots in the community through this church. Shiloh is filled with a believing body of Christians. It is by no means a perfect church, but it is a great house of worship, a house of worship built on the fundamentals of the teaching of God's Word. I'm updating this review because in my last review the church was without a Pastor, but today Shiloh officially has been blessed with a new Pastor to continue the work of the Lord & to lead the people & visitors of Shiloh; today we welcome, pray for & pray with Pastor Hodari Hamilton for continued success @ Shiloh.
