Or do labs etc. the vet office was charging a large amount. I talked to a friend who recommended Paw Project. I had never heard about it. Let me say the value of the labs was significantly cheaper and the appointments were not too far out. Was able to come in for the service we needed for a fraction of the cost. I don't often write bad reviews, but PawProject deserves one. I took my dog to PawProject for…read moreheartworm testing and eval for dental cleaning. After the exam, I was told straight up that my dog didn't need dental cleaning, so I could not book the service. I decided to purchase heartworm preventatives using their online pharmacy, but after EIGHT attempts in a month to get the medication, the order was rejected EVERY SINGLE TIME by their veterinarian. Each time the reason was that there was a prescription on file already so they could not approve an order request, but there WAS no prescription on file to begin with. All I can assume is that Pawproject wants my dog to get heartworm infection and die. I hate Pawproject and will report them to the Georgia Board of Veterinary Medicine. Don't go there.

I'm finally back in Macon after 10 years and now have a new store to visit for my essentials. They have a $15 deal that gives you a few fresh produce plus several other items to halfway fill up the cart - then you get to pick 10 for $10 of other select items. Lots of items that I can eat, not just junk food. Then the rest of the store is full of Dollar General items that are half of the retail cost! WOW

"We provide quality food and groceries to hungry individuals across our 30 county service area. Since 1982, we've distributed more than 250 million pounds of food and fed more than 14 million people." So why am I talking about them? Because I recently had the privilege of volunteering at their food bank. "Bank" should honestly be replaced with "warehouse" because that is exactly what it is. They have boxes for food and drinks coming in (by the pallet) and boxes ready to sort then boxes that have been packed up and ready to ship across the region. And this place is systemic. You have a job and they show you how to do that job as well as be available for questions. I have served at and taken groups to a number of food warehouses and soup kitchens throughout my life. This, by far, is one of the best organized ones I have encountered. The instructions will tell you, but let me say it again. Wear comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes. Prepare to sweat and know that you may have to lift up to 20 pounds. Feeding people isn't always easy, but it is always worth it. Find a way to support. *Insider's Tip -Volunteer either at the Food Bank or the Master's Table (a once-a-day meal providing location downtown). That role still…read moreafforded me the opportunity to learn about the many great services they provide for Augusta and their team, but I do recognize that is not the same as if I were a recipient of their services. Centrally located in South Augusta, this facility is amazing. From the moment you arrive, the team is welcoming and smiling and making you feel like this is a family reunion and suddenly you are now a member. From the exterior it may appear to be nothing of worth, but trust me it is a treasure chest filled with benevolence. There is a weekly grocery pickup service, meals provided, food bank, clothing bank, community services mediation, and more. The facility is two stories and a basketball court-sized gym area. The team is collaborative in focus, which is what brought about my involvement with them, and always seeking to come alongside their neighbors.
