Sometimes it can be considered a shame that we have so many options for meals in Manchester as it often means places can get forgotten. With such exciting new pop-ups and openings across the city, how are the longer serving restaurants supposed to compete?
Although I've been before and only work on the other side of Deansgate, I'm guilt of forgetting about Salvi's Rosticceria. I'm yet to eat at either of their larger establishments but the Rosticceria has recently jolted back into my 'potential lunch spots' list thanks to the always excellent combination of beer and pizza.
Originally heading for Crazy Pedro's (it was definitely a day for pizza in the office...) but being put off by the large office crowd who entered just after us, we headed to the salvation of Salvi's. There's always such an appealing array of pasta, ciabatta sandwiches and pizza - not to mention the grocery shelves - that you can have a proper Italian feast.
A slice of salami pizza and bottle of peroni set me back c.£5; I could have easily eaten another slice, but for a lunch portion they're still generous, and I'm sure the same could be said for their pasta and sandwiches. They have a rotating selection thanks to the Cucina next door and staff are forever coming in and out with different trays and plates, only adding to the atmosphere.
Sorry I left you for so long, Salvi's, but I'll be back. For two slices next time. read more
