Hot and sour soup and tofu with veggies. The soup was nice and spicy!

I luckily just happened to find this veg restaurant while walking around Mitte in Berlin, and boy was I happy! It can be a little difficult to find "safe" restaurants where you don't have to ask "does this contain beef broth?" I checked out the place online at Happy Cow and saw the positive reviews, so we headed there that evening. Not sure about the previous Yelper, but we found the owner and cook very friendly and helpful, along with speaking English to a point. We are in a foreign country, so of course not everyone speaks English! Anyway, they offered an English menu along with photos of all of the items (quite extensive menu.) We loved the food and ate there twice during our stay. Foreign restaurants are not known for spicy food (can be bland for those of us who like a little kick in our food) so we were happy to have some hot chili to add to our order. The hot and sour soup was delicious, which was a nice surprise since I usually don't like fruit in my entree (it contained pineapple.) This needed no addition of spice and opened up my sinuses! Veg head or not, I recommend this little restaurant!

I enjoyed it. 80% of the menu items contain tofu, so be ready for that. My friend found hair in her rice bowl, and the service was pretty slow. My fried wan tans were yummy and FYI, the "medium spicy" pad thai was not spicy.

I really enjoyed my quick stop here even though the ratings were not that strong. Definitely vegetarian but it was nice to have something warm and spicy on a cold day. I enjoyed the yellow curry dish, and reasonably priced glass of rose for lunch.

Being vegan, I always get excited to try new veg friendly cafés around Berlin. I stopped here for lunch the other afternoon and had one of their noodle dishes with tofu and veggies. The portion was nice and big, and the sauce was delicious. It was a tad on the expensive side, but that's to be expected in Mitte. Overall, it was a yummy lunch!

Great service and friendly staff. Food was pretty good too. Close to historical monuments. Perfect for lunch after exploring.

Regretfully, not very good. From a vegetarian! Mediocre service and harried wait staff.

The fact that clean, delicious (and often vegan!) food can exist in a modern, aesthetically pleasing restaurant and that people who don't abide by certain dietary restrictions can enjoy and crave. I have an enormous soft spot for baked beans over toast. An English breakfast, if you may. (This is the one mainstay of all of the weeks I've spent in London.) And most of the time, I have a hard time getting this baked beans-over-toast fix because I don't eat red meat, so a proper English breakfast would be out of the question. Not in Berlin. Not at Chipps. I came in on a rainy fall morning on the hunt for the Perfect Gentlemen: scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, baked beans over toast, and my choice of a vegetarian sausage. And while utterly veg-friendly and endearingly hip (the baked beans came to my table in a little jar), I couldn't help but notice that the meal, such a British staple, fell flat because of what I was comparing it to. The two pieces of vegetarian sausage were cold and the baked beans were just a tad too sweet. But still, maybe Chipps could be your Berlin. Try one of the many other options they have on their menu and I have a feeling you won't be disappointed.

We came here after having been turned away by an Indonesian restaurant that was "full for the night". We are so glad that fate brought us here instead of that Indonesian restaurant!! What were we even thinking anyway -- forget the Indonesian food, get the local specialities!! Ordered the schnitzel as well as the meatballs and both were executed perfectly. Schnitzel was hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside -- not overly salty either. Meatballs were juicy and packed with flavor from the minced onions that they had mixed in. The beer (we ordered a Pilsner) was the best that we had tried in all of the Berlin and Dresden restaurants that we visited. I believe it is from some small private brewery affiliated with the restaurant somehow. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right, so definitely order the house beer. Super cozy seating (you'll probably be sharing a table with other guests) and packed all night long but amazing vibes and casual comfort food. Would come back if I ever visit Berlin again!

It was the green umbrellas and seating outdoors that called to me. Unfortunately, like other outdoor dining areas in Europe, smoking is allowed. I just knew I would have to deal with that if I wanted to sit outside. I already saw a few people smoking. When you walk into the restaurant, the menu is posted on the wall behind the counter. It's a casual environment. As the name suggests, the food is vegetarian. Posted on the menu are stuffed baked potatoes, soups, salads, and juices. Bottled drinks in a refrigerator to the side. Tall table seating indoors. The salads are either small or large. I ordered a small quinoa salad and grabbed a bottled pomegranate tea from the refrigerator. While the gentleman rung me up at the register, someone else put my salad together. All fresh ingredients in a bowl. Glad I decided on a small because large is way too much food. A rabbit can only eat so much in one sitting. My drink was good and salad delicious. I used the restroom before I left, which is on the right hand side, through the side door. Had to mention it because the ladies room is a tiny stall for one. Cashless, so don't forget to bring your credit card.

But, that's truly enough, as what they prepare is all very-very good. The way this restaurant is designed is that you walk inside, decide what you want from their menu, and you order it at the counter. No cash. Only card. Then, it is prepared very quickly. I mean, they really do a great job of preparing each dish very fast. In terms of seating, for their interior they have a couple of long group tables and some two person tables along their wall. Me, that's where I like to sit. They also have a large amount of outdoor tables. Most of these table have umbrellas, so it is a great place to sit if you want to enjoy the air. The one problem I have with sitting at their outdoor tables is the same problem I have with virtually all of the restaurants in Berlin, they allow to people to smoke at these tables. One would think, at a vegetarian restaurant, they would not allow smoking. But, I have even witnessed staff members taking a break and going out there for a smoke. This is just something to keep in mind. Normally, I too prefer to sit outside, but I hate to have my eating experience diminished by someone smoking next to me. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Berlin. The food is very good. They staff are all very nice. And, you walk away feeling as if you have actually done something very good for your body.
