Parking is not too bad there are dedicated parking spaces outside on the sie of the road and the other side of the road to park so it' s not too difficult to pop in and collect an order. There is an eat in facilty available with tables and chairs as well. The menu has it's usual items on and are of very good quality. The prices are moderate and not the cheapest but you do get what you are paying for. The walls now contain pictures of the youngers process of making fish 'n' chips from start to finish just to reassure you the quality you getting !

Every half-term my…read moregrandparents would take me and my brother to the Wimpy at the top of Caerphilly for some quality, greasy grub after a day out. It was the law, it was tradition, and it was a traditional law that I enjoyed being enforced. However, as the years went on and we grew up, the trips to the restaurant faded and so did our childhood. No more school holiday visits to Wimpy, no more overly greasy eggs and no more partially diced fully-circled sausages half-buried beneath a mountain of beans and chips. While I don't miss the greasy fry ups (unless I'm hungover), I do miss those days sometimes; spending quality time with family, sharing a laugh and a joke with people who are no longer here. Time changes a lot of things, but there are certain places and venues that have the powerful ability to instantly take you back to a time when things were so much simpler and the only thing that mattered was that moment, there and then. The food is all locally and sustainably sourced, so it's a fairly guilt-free way to eat, calories notwithstanding! Many of the pies are made in house rather than ordered from a supplier, so it is always worth asking if there is something special to try. Portions are big so you probably won't need to go near the large options unless you're sharing. Prices are pretty cheap considering the quality and quantity of the food, and there is ample parking out back, particuarly useful if you choose to sit in the small cafe that adjoins to the takeaway.

Just under £15 to feed 2 people is a little bit on the high end in terms of fish and chip prices, but with the quality I wouldn't be opposed to coming back. Now I'm not sure if this is entirely true, but I did find many of the reminders of its time, such as the old courtroom where capitol punishment was imposed, to be a bit spooky (yet fascinating)! Perhaps due to its creepy atmosphere, or more likely due to the fantastic weather on the day we visited, we decided to sit out in the pub courtyard, to enjoy our simply delicious ploughmans lunch. There is accommodation at the Inn, including two beautifully traditional rooms both with their own four poster beds. However given the Skirrid's reputation for ghostly happenings, I'm not sure I'll be braving a night their anytime soon!
