I wish the place could have been a lot more. The place lacks some theming and branding. There is not much embelishment in the counters or walls, and you pick food items from a cheaply prepared laminated menu. It could use a little more sprucing up to add a little more touch of Filipiniana. As it is right now, it is just a place you go to eat and nothing more. I am hoping for a place in Little Manila where people actually make it a destination where they actually properly dine and take in the Filipino culture. This is in stark contrast to the many comparable Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Ethiopian restaurants where you could really feel the cultural immersion in the way the place is decorated. For food, the house combos were nice. It is very filling and great value money-wise. However, they could have done better to make it more true to the authentic Filipino cuisine. Grilled chicken and pork chop are not signature Filipino dishes. I was also surprised to find Korean beef included as one of the menu items. The service we received was also underwhelming. The servers are not easily identifiable being in their own civilian attire. The new, young lady server that handed over our bill was also severely lacking in training. She was ignorant about a little history of the restaurant and got the computation for our bill all messed up. I wanted to love this place. However, as it is right now, I would not feel proud of bringing my non-Filipino friends here. It does not give a good impression of Filipino hospitality, culture, and tradition.

This family-run restaurant has been around in the Bathurst-Wilson area for almost 2 decades, and is frequented by a lot of regulars. It tends to get packed during prime meal hours (lunch and dinner), and they don't take reservations (first come, first served). Tip is already included in the bill, and they don't take Visa or MasterCard (so bring debit card or cash). The restaurant specializes in Filipino-Chinese dishes, serving Filipino classics such as Sinigang Soup, Pancit, Garlic Rice, and various grilled proteins. It has a very homey feel. The owners and staff are all super friendly and make us feel very welcomed every time. The dishes come out lightning fast (except the grilled fish - but it's well worth the wait because they make it fresh in-house), yet they never make us feel rushed during our meals. Every dish is DELICIOUS and tastes healthy without being too salty, oily, or greasy (unlike in some other Chinese / Filipino restaurants). All the dishes that we tried have been pure perfection, and in big family-style portion sizes - perfect for sharing! The Grilled Pompano is very meaty and you can taste the charred grill taste. Mixed Vegetables consist of broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, eggplant, carrot, and mushrooms - this is one of my favourite dishes. Sinigang Soup is always a homey comfort that reminds me of Southeast Asia. You can choose different contents for the soup (e.g. vegetables, shrimps, bangus fish, etc.). It's one of my favourite veggie soups since childhood. The most popular dessert is the Halo-Halo (literal translation: "mix-mix"). It's a great ending to every meal, especially in the summer. It consists of shaved ice with vanilla ice cream and various fillings such as shaved coconut, sweet beans, coconut jellies, corn, ube (sweet taro), and condensed milk. 5 out of 5 for all aspects of this restaurant: the food (quality, taste, freshness, healthiness - depending on what you order), portion size, customer service, friendliness, the casual and homey ambience / welcoming atmosphere. Really great value for your meals.

We came here before heading back home. The moment we open the door, everyone was so welcoming. We're a large group so they immediately got us set up in a long table. When we got seated, just warm people welcomed us. We were advised that since we're a large group that automatic gratuity will be added and of course we said yes. Our food was made fast, every single dish that we ate was a no frills just delicious food. The Garlic rice brought memories, it's made exactly how my Lola (grandma) makes it. I absolutely enjoyed every spoon of it. Now the Lechon Kawali was for the win! I had to order another serving because it was that good. It was crunchy and melt in your mouth, how they cook it that way just blew my mind. Its like Hong Kong style pork belly. The Beef Bulalo hits the spot. The Pancit was all gone as well. I would highly recommend this place when you're in Toronto. I wish we have this place in Orlando. Thomas & The Owner even checked on us and they're hospitality is top notch!!

Great filipino staple foods in toronto. Ordered for a party of 7 during a not so busy lunch time. When we got in, the staff and the owner welcomed us. Very friendly staff, great food and good portion for sharing (or not). Ordered Sinigang na Isda Lechon kawali Inihaw na baboy (grilled pork) Crispy squid (half and half) Sampaguita Pancit

I came to Sampaguita Village expecting to be blown away. It was after alleged to be one of the best (if not the best) Filipino restaurants in the city. Sampaguita is a very simple restaurant smack in the middle of little Manila. We arrived at lunch when the place was fairly busy, but there were still tables available. We were directed to a table, given some menus and glasses of water. The décor is very simple and the servers are expeditious and friendly. I am not sure if the restaurant is family-run but it certainly has that feel. We ordered the crispy chicken, the Lechon Kawali (roasted pork belly), the Filipino Beef Steak and a garlic rice. The food was so good it, it bordered on addictive. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and had a nice smoky flavor. It was very difficult to stop eating. The Lechon Kawali was some of the best I have ever had. It was not excessively fatty, had a nice crispy skin and was very tender. The garlic rice is the best if you love garlic. It was so loaded with so much garlic, that I could smell the dish before I even saw it. As someone who really enjoys garlic, I wouldn't have it any other way. However, I probably wouldn't order it if I were on a date. The beef steak was also very good, though not as good as the chicken and the pork. It was a very large portion of sautéed beef and was tender and tasty. The gravy it came in complimented the garlic rice perfectly. Sampaguita Village met my expectations. Easily one of the best (if not the best) Filipino restaurants in Toronto. Will be back for sure.

I'm a Filipina, and since this restaurant happens to be in Little Manila, my rating is going to be pretty tough. It is a popular place with Filipinos and non Filipinos alike; but with relatives and friends that can cook way better AND the close proximity of many other Filipino eateries in the area, I'd rather go somewhere else. Not much in the way of ambiance, and the service is hurried, not very personable.

Highly recommended !! We traveled from CA and was so impressed with this place. The food is super flavorful and authentic. The kare kare and lechon kawali are amazing ! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant has an inviting and friendly vibe. 100% would come back if we get a chance to visit Toronto again!!

    Perfect garlic rice.

Total hole-in-the-wall that I've walked by tons of times before and finally decided to give it a shot. I went with one other (quite hungry) person and we ordered garlic rice, pinakbet, and a grilled pork chop/crispy squd combo. Firstly, we WAY underestimated the portions. Two fairly ravenous big eaters managed to finish the squid and pork and just barely finished the rice (probably because it was bomb). We had about 2/3 of the pinakbet left. So I can firmly say that you will not leave hungry, and the price is fair for the quality and quantity. The pork chop was succulent, very tasty with a bit of dark glaze, although the spots close to the bone were a bit too red for me to be comfortable with. (Still tons of meat). The crispy squid was perfect - hot, fresh, good crunch to the batter, good quality squid. The pinakbet was not my favorite but I kept stealing lechon and shrimp out of it and the noodles were tasty. The garlic rice deserves a paragraph of its own. OMG. So garlicky, slightly sticky, just wonderful. I'd happily eat an order of this with an egg and leave happy and full having ingested probably half my day's caloric intake. 5/5, will return.

Sampiguita pancit. My favourite dish of the meal. Great portion size!

3 .5 stars Food: good but nothing outstanding. Ordered the Sampiguita pancit which was probably my favourite dish. 2 different noodles, crisp veggies, large chunks of chicken, lechon and shrimp. It was also very nicely sauced. The bulalot was an oxtail soup with onions and napa cabbage.... That's it. It has a very basic flavour profile and while comforting like home cooking... not outstanding. lumpia Shanghai was good, very fresh and clean tasting but not as crispy as the lumpia I am accustomed to. Also ordered the grilled chicken which was very tender (definitely all dark meat) and the typical sweet marinated and charred flavour profile of most Filipino bbq'ed meats. Service: if you've ever been to a filipino's house for any type of social gathering then you will be familiar with the cultures above and beyond level of friendliness and hospitality. The staff here are no exception! They are very friendly and accomadating! Overall it was a very good casual dining experience. Service was quick and food was great for price point. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! Pro tip. The restaurant is VERY crowded by 630 pm even on a weekday. We went at 530 on a Wednesday and snagged a table before the rush. Within the hour the entire Restaurant was full so get there before 630!!

Such a lovely family restaurant! We came for lunch on Wednesday, and there were some empty tables, but they quickly filled up within fifteen minutes. We ordered the Pancit Sampaguita, which was their recommendation, Lechon Kawali & Shrimp, as well as Crispy Chicken. The house sauces are delicious, and seemed to work with every type of meat. A few pieces of pork belly were slightly burnt and too crispy, but otherwise the food was of great quality. The portions are quite large as well, and we had plenty of leftovers. Service was decent - all our food came out within five minutes, but there was never any water refills - I think the staff got quite busy during the lunch rush. All around amazing food at an affordable price.

This little mum and pop resto is a hit. It hits close to home. By far the best filipino garlic rice I have ever had but shhh dont tell my mom (sorry mom). This place is a chinese and filipino fusion. I stongly recommend the short ribs with garlic rice, its about $16 before tax but the portion is good enough for 2 people. I usually get the sinigang ( pork tamarjnd soup) it adds a sour kick to all the salty foods you and its nice to have a hot soup with your meal. The place could use a uplift. The hall way to the washroom was cluttered with boxes and such but it didnt really bother me that much, just remember if your going to eat here, its def not fine dining, but the food is so worth it.

I was craving Filipino food and found this place on Yelp. I loved the reviews and photos and also happened to be in the area during the weekend so I came here for dinner. Whooaaaa, this place was PACKED with people lining out the door! Finding parking in the plaza was near impossible, I would say if you're stuck finding a parking space, try the side streets. Thankfully, after circling around for the third time, I found parking! Also, I was eating alone and didn't mind sharing a table so a waitress was able to settle me to a seat almost immediately. I have to admit, I am not an expert in Filipino dishes and had to refer to some of the Yelp photos to guide my food choice. When it came time to order, the waitress was kind enough to give me some helpful suggestions. For how packed that restaurant was, I would say food came out rather quickly. I ordered a veggie Sinigang and pancit bihon. Both were very delicious!! Because I shared my table, I was faced with dishes that my table mates ordered and it looked mouthwatering to me. Definitely, the next time I return, I may bring a friend or two so that we may order a couple more dishes together as Filipino eating is very communal. Highly recommend this location the only downside is the parking.

We were just lucky to get in on time. My daughter always wants tapsilog anytime we are in these type of joints and mother goose of course craves for the lechon kawali which I'm sure all Filipinos would've named it 'lechon KAWHI' if it hadn't been for his homesick ways and dislike to Canadian weather (I sound bitter don't I?) Moving on to the serving portions, holy big massive slices of pork and the rice poundings at this place went by kilos it seemed. Good crunch and taste all around. When observing other diners, most have ordered the 'kamayan feast' but seeing that we brought my little Godzilla with us, he will happily join in thinking it's play time on a massive version of his high chair so we settled for the a la carte and it didn't disappoint. This place has lots of potential! Very cozy and great for small gatherings under group of 10 or I'm sure you could book off the entire dining area if you were to host a private party. They have a separate area upon entering in where takeouts can be placed. The food is displayed like most Filipino dishes under heat lamps and they have a lot of artery blocking fiestas like the crispy pata and more fried entrees. It could improve on the service factor though, many times we had to remind them for sauce and cutlery which became irritating as the response was unapologetic followed with a few sighs and strong exhales of unwanted breath on my forehead but hunger summoned all devils to be gone and ignore negative aura. Seriously though, this is where my fellow Filipinos lack experience, the friendly and courteous manner that produces pleasant costumer relations is a factor many times overlooked and should be enhanced during training and practice all throughout employment in the food service. If they nail this, we can probably have a bigger chance in breaking through stereotypes that prevent other Filipinos from supporting restaurants from their very own. Will be back to try out their kamayan feature soon, I'm bringing the fam bam next time minus the toddler.
