I used Scan & Go to check out, and had one alcoholic item in my cart among many other items. I had just purchased the membership a few days earlier to give Sam's Club a try. When I went to leave and have my QR code scanned to approve the ID, the employee canceled my entire order after it had already been charged to my credit card. I then had to go through the manager just to check out all over again, which meant I was double charged over $300. Since then, I've called the warehouse multiple times trying to get in touch with a manager. I left my phone number, no call back. I was told I'd have to come in person, but no one could tell me the manager's hours (because somehow they didn't know?). I then called corporate support, only to be told they "can't help" because this wasn't an online order. They said they'd email me and the store manager. I've been given the runaround from every direction with no resolution. At this point, it feels like they're just hoping I give up so I opened a case with my bank. I had a very negative customer service experience yesterday. At first I was very pleased with the scan and go feature of the Sam's club app. I was able to bypass several long lines. However, after purchasing a bottle of Don Julio Rosado I was told that it could not be retrieved from the alcohol lock up by an associate. She stated that Don Julio was not being sold due to some glitch in the system and I would have to obtain a refund. I had to wait in the customer service line for 30 minutes. I inquired why wasn't anything done to prevent customers from purchasing the alcohol involved in this "systemic glitch". They stated there was nothing they could do and corporate would have to address it. I asked why the signage wasn't removed so people could not scan it or why wasn't there a sign stating that certain alcohol wasn't being sold. The associate just stated that this had been going on for three days and there's nothing they can do. I asked to see a manager to discuss the issue and was told the same thing after waiting an additional 15 minutes. I was very upset that after intentionally skipping lines that I still ended up waiting 45-60 minutes for an issue that was not my fault and could have easily been prevented. I was also told I would not receive my refund for 1-2 business days. Of course that is always upsetting news. I was not offered a cash refund or anything other rectification for my inconveniences. At this point the food that I retrieved from the cafe, through preorder, was cold. I asked the manager if I could at least receive a replacement of hot food. She stated because the line was long, there was nothing she could do. I asked if I placed another order could I receive a refund for the first order and she said yes. However, upon attempting to place another order, the pizza that I ordered previously was sold out. There was no pizza available at this time. When I informed her, no other solutions were offered. The WORST Sam's club I've ever been to. Some of the employees here for the most part are definitely passively racist. I went to the service desk to get my membership that I signed up for and I didn't get my promotional gift card. So when I came back to get it, the person who signed me up acted like she had an attitude saying that I didn't show her anything and told me to just wait for an email. I read the email out that I had before signing up to her that said "you'll get your gift card at the membership desk when you pick up your card". She literally read the whole paragraph about 3 times to make sure. And reluctantly gives me my membership card back along with the gift card. No apologies, no smile, no anything. The next lovely encounter I had with a sam's club employee was when I was in the trash bag aisle and it was completely blocked off with pallet jacks. The employee drags her feet the aisle asking me "where you trying to go" I think to myself "I just want to stand here in the middle of the aisle in front of these pallet jacks for fun. What do you think" but I actually said "can you move this so I can get across." She rolls her eyes, moves the pallet jack super slowly, and doesn't apologize. The one positive experience I had was that my cashier was cheerful and efficiently checked me out. No complaints here. I heard that a man working at the gas station in gurnee il. Has been fired.. he's 74 years old and has been there forv20 + years. He was fired for being disrespectful to the bosses. You only get respect if you give respect!! Which the bosses are lacking in. He hardly got any breaks or lunch as well. They don't see it as a problem. He barely gets to leave on time. He calls the bosses to get a break but they don't answer. He's a veteran and gets treated like a child.one boss asked if he was a Man. He does his job and still gets talked to they talk to him like a child, nit pic about cleaning the gas station and not out talking to the customers. Hes complained to the head office but all they say is we'll look into it. What kind of business is that? Treating a veteran like hes no body..he hardly took any time off. This Sams is close to my house and I go here if I absolutely have to. Don't get me wrong I like going to Sams but this location is a "No". Today I had a cashier I believe her name was Julie, she was so rude and mean. Had my things falling on the floor because she was placing it back on there so hatefully. I had an instant savings and didn't understand why it wasn't reflecting the discount price and she didn't care to figure out why. I grabbed a floor manager named "Norma" who if she didn't handle Julie later she was very nice and apologetic to how I was treated. The only thing that is good at this location is gas. Terrible customer service. Membership desk is slow and INCREDIBLY RUDE. The woman tried to give me a hard time and I told her I used to work at sams for 3 years and never heard of the "policy" she was trying to bs me with. I was membership team leader and first rule is to make the customer happy. I was so tired of dealing with her and the crowd I ended up leaving what I had PLANNED to buy in frustration. There was a long ass line on EVERY register including membership and she still insisted on giving me a hard time instead of just giving me good customer service to keep a PAYING CUSTOMER happy. And to think...they make us PAY to shop in this zoo? Not only do we have to pay for what we buy but we have to pay just to be allowed in. The cleanliness of this place was atrocious too...there was gum and rotting strawberries on some of the display merchandise. The restrooms were worse than walking into a giant port o potty. I highly recommend this Sam's Club for its gasoline prices. Far lower than inside the city limits of Chicago. The food court is not worth a visit. Food quality is just ok. Frozen yogurt is grainy! Selection of items is geared toward resale. Small selection of produce. Small selection of baked goods. Meat department is small. Pharmaceutical selections are limited. Unfortunately this is the closest location to my house and I absolutely HATE coming here! You will only catch me here if I ABSOLUTELY have to come here due to a time constraint. No matter what time of the day you go (even with the Plus membership) - it is packed! They never have enough check out lanes open. The store is messy. And the employees are far from professional - I hear the cart attendants throwing the n-word around quit a bit in the parking lot or they're goofy around with each other or on their phones, most of the employees barely even greet you, and forget getting help from a cashier if your card doesn't swipe (I was told by Jazmine I believe that if the machine didn't accept my chip - there was NOTHING that can be done. Yet I've shopped at Sam's and Walmart plenty of times with this card and every other cashier has been able to get it to go through. 1st time here... Huge store! Greeter was friendly... Customer Service SUCKED!!! Try to purchase 4 sets of tires for my kids vehicle. Not a 1 zip tire in stock... The Young man behind the counter act like we were poison... My husband @age 73 who owned his own tow truck company, try to explain to the young man we can use this other brand tire. Explaining to be so kind and see if they had it in stock? We would've purchased those. After 2 seconds, ( latterly not even enough time to punch in the tire number!) He tells my husband have to order those too. Come back on Monday and get a DISCOUNT. My husband said I don't give a rats ass about your damn DISCOUNT! We had just called before we came in, and was told you had "ALL" Tires in stock! Now either you're falsifying your information or you just don't want to do your job? Which is it? The rude young man said, go to WALMART NEXT DOOR... & walked away... We have two business locations, unfortunately one isn't close to a Costco, but it is close to this Sam's. I can't say I've ever left this place in a good mood, so I only go here if I have to. My last visit here really took the cake. Having to pick up supplies for the office I stop in, I notice that they carry some Apple products, so YAY, I can pick up an additional power cord that I need. How convenient, what a time saver! NOT! Of course it's not stocked on the shelf, you have to take one of the cards and present it to the cashier. Thinking that it would be similar to Costco where there always is a floor supervisor very close by to get the item out of the cage, I thought no big deal. Well at Sam's they send you to the service desk, the same service desk where people sign up/renew their memberships. The same desk where returns are made. In other words a long slow line, because they only have one person handling customers at 5:30. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that this is a real busy time of day. I wait in line 15-20 minutes thinking, I really don't need this that much. However the irony is that for me to get my money back, I'd have to wait in the same line. So I wait. I get up to the desk, the worker tells me she has to call the manager to get the key to open the cage, she senses my sigh and apologizes for the wait, tells me how they don't have enough help. So I wait on the side, manager comes opens the door up and she reaches in for the item, she hands me the wrong item, I point out to her that the cord I'm buying is 6' long and there is no way it would fit in the box, now she get's a pissy attitude about it, tells me I picked the wrong card. I say, no look at the description. She did and then noticed they had the stock # wrong, because of this they had to check the price again. So now I had 45 minutes into this. Like I said above, time saver NOT! I have no choice but to go to this Sam's at times. However, I won't bother with any personal shopping, and if it's a special item or higher priced needing a card to be presented, it won't get purchased at all. I'll find another source. Sam's you need a better system, you also need to properly cover the service desk at busy times. I really used to hate bulk stores. I used to not want to have anything to do with Costco but now I love it. And now I love Sam's Club. My friend has a membership, but I'm definitely going to get myself one! We arrived pretty early this morning and the place was already hoppin. There was a ton of Christmas stuff right when we walked in, which is always a plus. They had a much larger selection of Christmas items than Costco. There were already associate's out in full force with samples for all. Yum. The prices were almost identical to Costco, which actually surprised me. Since Sam's Club is owned by Wal Mart I figured the prices would be lower than other bulk stores but they weren't. The stores have almost identical staple items. The deli and bakery sections aren't as large as they could be and there isn't as great a selection as Costco, but they have a lot of high quality fresh-made items. They had a fairly large produce section and everything was reasonably priced. It really was just a bulk store. It was a good experience, everyone was friendly and the checkout was quick. Oh, and I bought the "A Christmas Story" 25th anniversary box set which came complete with an apron and a Leg Lamp cookie cutter. Yep, this Sam's Club is so awesome. I love that movie and I've never seen that box set anywhere else ever. Oh, and the gas was $1.97/gallon.... AMAZING!! I'd buy the $40 membership just go to out of my way to get gas that cheap. I've tried the bakery at this Sam's Club three times now. A week ago I actually went forward and ordered a football theme birthday Cake for child. I picked up the cake today and it looks like a child decorated it. Horrible and of course it's too late to get another cake. I will continue patronize the Hodgkins store, where the staff in in the bakery and all over the store are more professional and take pride in their work. I wish I could post the pictures of the cake in the binder and the one I received. I wish I could give negative stars. This bakery doesn't deserve the one. Feels crowded and the layout feels crowded...although, the outside appears to be comparable to other Sam,s Clubs the layout is rather compact and overstuffed with merchandise. I realized the point of any store is to show their wares and to get you to buy it; however, at this particular Club they seem to have the mindset, "Let's supersaturate" the customer. For some that may get folks to buy purchase unnecessarily, but for others, like myself, it's a turn off. I don't go into any store to wander aimlessly down aisles.... I went with my son who wanted to buy some stuff for his youth group and I thought I'll get some goodies for my students, but it was a nightmarish maze. The candy was split between two aisles that weren't even near each other. Why? SAM's; people will buy what they need without all of your pushing for them to buy more! Just be ready to serve, be professional, be pleasant, be clean and orderly. Please know that I am not without a mind. As for actual service, everyone seemed to be doing all that they could do with what they had to work with, hence two stars... I've been going here since the beginning of this yr. The prices are not that bad. My husband noticed that some liquor is acutally cheaper here then at the liquor store. Recently I got a pack of pork chops for about $12 that should last me about 1.5 or 2 months. The chicken is good also for the price. I'm pretty satisfied with their products and prices so far. Cons: lines are extremely long at times. You'd have to get there as soon as they open to avoid that. Also, I don't understand why the hispanic community always brings their whole family to do groceries... Way too many kids running around, some aisles are not that wide and usually kids get in the way. read more

I recently got a membership for my house, because "in these economic times" I have to make my dollars stretch as far as possible. Don't I sound like a commercial? I never can find a park right away, it takes time and patience. OH.MY.GOD. This place is the the definition of a S***Show. My friend and I came here so he could renew his membership. He hasn't had a membership in 5 years, yet they had a huge issue giving him a membership. It took over 40 minutes which included him being accused of fraud. Finally after that disaster we shopped. It was very messy & disorganized. Many employees were on their cell phones, and the ones who weren't were clueless. He was given a coupon for $20 off of a FitBit. They issued this during membership registration which was about 30 minutes prior to our checkout, yet when we got to checkout the TWO employees at the register said they had never seen this coupon and didn't know how to use it. Buying a Fitbit means prepaying and grabbing a piece of cardboard with a picture of one, so after checkout we went back up to member service so they could give us the actual item....more lost employees and people on phones. Nobody seemed to have a definite answer as to where these fit bits may be. So we waited and waited while the employee searched high and low. She eventually found it...thank god. When we finally went to leave, the girl checking receipts was also on her phone, and checked off his receipt and didn't even ask for mine, even though both of our items were in one cart. The cashiers are always eating/drinking while they are ringing you up, most of them don't even greet you. The lines are always long. I don't go here unless it's as soon as they open so I can go in and out ASAP. Always check for expiration date for anything you buy there. read more

This SAMs club is one of the worst I have visited. The selection is boring I went in looking for bakery goods and pre made platters for super bowl Sunday and left with neither of those items. I am a very disappointed customer. I ordered a cake from the Cicero location bakery. I not only was given the wrong cake but the cupcakes that i ordered were not complete with the Bows that went on top. I was given a bag full of Bow rings to do it myself. I took my car in to have a tire repaired. It was a 3 1/2 hour wait and terrible customer service. The information they gave about the tire was incorrect and I was sent on a goose chase. They said they would not warrant tire because another Sams's had put on the incorrect tire. This information was wrong and an entire day was ruined trying to get a tire fixed. I'm now driving a spare until I can get issue resolved.I would stay clear of this store. read more

I was chocked as I never paid attention when I picked them up. I called and called and called the meat dept. They never never answered and the answering service machine redirected me to the operators which never answered after a million rings. Finally a very rude lady answered and refused to give me her name said to me drive back and get Yoo-hoo money back!!!!! Are you kidding me? Drive 25 miles each way to get to give her the meat? I had never been inside one of these crazy bulk stores before I stepped foot in here. I expected it to be insane, and it was, but in an awesome way. I bought a month's worth of lunch snacks and breakfast's on the go for less than half of what I spend buying things each week. It's hard when you live alone to really not get tired of things, but buying staples here is just awesome. The membership is so cheap compared to what you can save, especially on things like soap and what have you. The parking lot is crazy, it's super busy on the weekends and there are a lot of questionably trashy looking people but I love this place, especially when I know I have to try to feed like 50 people or want to impulse buy 6 boxes worth of brownie mix. . read more
