When I was still working Sam's Club was my warehouse of choice. Shopping there at least once and week and purchasing all my fuel there, it felt familiar and comfortable. I knew where everything was located. I bought all my eyeglasses in their vision department. They had great prices, frames and service. Since I've been retired I've kept my card but do much less shopping there because of the distance versus a rival warehouse store. There are items that Sam's carries that I can't find anywhere else. Their low calorie fudge bars are amazing. Fruits are excellent as are the large containers of thin sliced deli meats. They're perfect on Sam's rolls that come in large bags and stay fresh long periods of time if kept in the refrigerator. Heated a few seconds in the microwave before use they taste as fresh as when bought. The two items are perfect together as ham or roast beef rolls for holidays. Don't forget about the warehouse size bags of Sister Schubert frozen yeast rolls. It never hurts to browse the clothing and books. In fact, browsing the entire store might turn up items that are newly stocked. The location is on the southeast corner of S Plaza Trail facing Virginia Beach Boulevard. We went to Sam's club to see if they had those blueberry cream cheese croissants, but they didn't. So we looked around to see what else they had since last time I was there. I was glad it wasn't overly packed like it can be sometimes in there. They had some ham and cheese croissants for breakfast that looked good, some new dips and whatnot. The take and bake section was looking a little skimpy, so I guess we came to late. There weren't any samples either, so I'm not sure if they don't do that on the weekends. I've been waiting to get a card because their normally out, so fortunately they had some this time. The customer service representative was nice. I'm so glad no cell phone salespeople stalked me through the aisles like last time. Lol. It was pretty peaceful without that. There were a few meats that were on clearance and the veggies and salads were reasonably priced. There were a few new things that caught my eye. The deep dish pizza looked good. If my freezer wasn't so full I would have gotten it... The self checkout is pretty simple. If you're paying with cash you will have to go to a different register for a cashier to check you out. They also have rewards you can earn which I wasn't aware of. I was tempted to get a slice of pizza when we left ,but I was a good girl today. Lol. There was a little line, so I passed. These stars are directed towards the bakery department. (I think, from what I saw on her name tag) Kira, who might have been the bakery department manager was so kind, helpful, compassionate and accommodating. I noticed all the 30 count cupcakes were all white icing with light sprinkles and was hoping for more colorful options like they typically offer. She explained the current available in store options (not special ordered) and most likely saw the huge disappointment on my face. She offered to decorate a set with color, which was done expeditiously. I was absolutely thrilled and touched that she took the time to accommodate me, which was not demanded nor expected. She saw the opportunity to brighten a customer's day and she most definitely did! Kira, is an individual that a business should be very proud and honored to have. She exemplifies how excellent customer service should look. She listened, explained, understood me and made me feel seen and valued as a customer. I truly do appreciate her kindness and time and am very thankful & grateful. :-) Her willingness to help did not go unnoticed. Meh. It's been a while since I've been inside a Sam's. It's basically what I remember .... A rundown looking warehouse with boxes of large sized stuff. Sometimes the prices are better - often not. Bc you're buying such a bulk amount of something it seems like a good deal but it's probably around the same as Target in the end. I will say their bakery and to-go salads and entrees were amazing. The desserts, cakes, pastries and cookies looked legit and prices were phenomenal. If you're having a party and need rolls or croissants and salads or cakes, you name it, this is where to get it. Electronics had some nice items. Clothing was meh. It was crowded even at 7-8pm at night and I was not into it. read more

I've had memberships to other similar places but I find Sam's club to be my favorite. They have everything I need and more. I love their food area. They are normally very stocked up on items. I would give 5 star, my only issues have been when I place pick up orders and the time frames are never accurate. Other than that I love Sam's! read more

Shopping in Virginia Beach, Virginia... I'm not a member of Sam's Club, but my friend is. She was hoping that the mangoes that she had seen last week would still be available... but, they were all gone - because they were such a good deal. We walked around the air conditioned warehouse. It was neat and clean! I saw the yellow peaches - four pounds for $9.98 plus tax. Let's try a box! My friend scanned the bar code on the box. She had her phone open on the Sam's Club app and just walked out without using the self-scanning station nor the cashier! It was amazing! Contactless and conveniently stream-lined! Wow! So it's an interesting story how I recently got a Sam's Club membership. It was a Super Bowl promo. Wherever the ball was placed the start of the 4th quarter is what you pay. Well believe me there was a line the next week for $8 basic membership. I had never stepped foot in a Sam's before. Customer service was great getting my membership squared away. I did a tour of the store looking at anything I may need and price checking since I'm a BJ's member. I was impressed at the store. Things were organized nicely and prices were very competitive or better than BJ's. Most impressive was the meat case and fruit. I did pick up some things and also returned a couple more. All experiences good. But my last one best with my Yelp friend Terry telling me about the Sam's app and utilization of scan & go. Total game changer. Target has a similar system. So checkout was a breeze and they double check as you leave. Also I want to mention they offer an upgrade to the basic quickly, so my recommendation is get the basic to start. I look forward to more Sam Club visits. read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my son and hubby. It was not hectic at all. The layout is the complete opposite of my "home" Sams in Chesapeake so I was a bit turned around at first. They had great deals and lots of inventory. I found that their bakery and fresh section was chock full of goodies. I did find that their cashiers were not as friendly as the cashiers in the Chesapeake Sams. read more

I've always had a very positive experience at this pharmacy location inside Sam's Club, Virginia Beach. The pharmacist was very nice, accommodating and efficient. I've gotten a couple prescriptions filled here because the particular medications were available from U.S. manufacturers and other local pharmacies could not accommodate. read more

Bakery personnel are very rude!! Most of the employees don't even speak to you. The quality of this store has diminished over the last 2-3 years The products are the same, nothing new or interesting. I rarely shop here because I prefer Costco. They at least get new organic/vegan products. I feel like Costco is more cost effective than Sams. Sam's employees are ruining their reputation. The bakery, fruit/fish department run out of items all the time. You now have to go online to place an order for a cake. They're even installing a receipt scanner?? I'd rather shop elsewhere. Update- the website for the bakery does not give accurate availability. It should block off days or have a message at the beginning of the ordering process. The website takes you through the entire process and at the end it gives you the availability. Website needs updating for accuracy to prevent misleading the customer and wasting the customers time. read more

Membership is worth every penny. I don't remember what it is, but maybe $80/year? Not sure. We only have 2 people in our home, but frequent family visitors. The savings on bulk items like paper, laundry, pet, and cleaning products really add up! And I NEVER thought I'd buy clothing at Sam's, but they have fantastic deals on clothing for the whole family. Food: great selection of quick cook-at-home meals, deli salads, and dessert trays! Milk prices are great, especially Almond Milk! Use the App with Quick Scan checkout!! Skipping the registers and walking right out with your scanned paid receipt saves a ton of time and aggravation. I park my cart in an out-of-the-way spot to scan everything, pay right there with a swipe using my saved payment method, then head to the door to show the attendant my QR receipt. So simple! Especially great if you're only picking up a few things. Coffee: hubby will only drink Folger's Black Silk, which has rocketed in price at regular stores, yet still remains much lower for the large one at Sam's. Facilities: large clean restroom at the back by the pharmacy Also a GREAT place to pick up random gifts throughout the year, like major appliances, gift cards, kitchen storage systems, toys, etc. Gas: I drive EV now but still take our trucks there. USE THE APP to quick pay! Using a regular card takes a really long time for some reason because of WiFI or whatever. And you have to scan your membership card first, wait for that to connect, then your payment card. But the app's scanner is SO fast! Great customer service!!!! Hi five guys. Get your tires here. They come with a warranty. I have changed my new tires out for brand new tires when I get a flat or a this time a blade stuck in my tire. You will have to wait but it's worth it due to the warranty. I paid $16.80 for a break new tires that normally would cost me $120 for a Goodyear tire. As you wait you can eat pizza. ( which is really good). Sams club pizza is pretty awesome! Get the supreme. And you can shop and taste yummy samples as you wait. Lol. Well first thing is I just tried to get a new card because. It was not scanning all the time at the gas pumps.so when I go to customer service I'm told that I better hang on to the the one I have because card are no loner available and everything would have to be done through your cell phone,then I was informed that there would be no more cashiers that they would be closing as well .another thing that ticks me off as I walk through I notice that prices are lower for scan and go customers which I don't understand I'm already checking myself out and I pay for the same membership so the only thing I'm no doing now is stocking and retrieving basket which I have had to go hunt baskets so why should prices be different?,well my membership expires I believe in November,I will not be renewing I will be shopping at clubs where I feel more like a customer than a non paid employee Good luck (zero stars) read more

I always love browsing and end up buying a ton of things I honestly don't need, today was a prebuilt gingerbread house for the kids. When little one was in diapers, I'd always get giant boxes of diapers and wipes. My first, and likely only, experience with this Sam's reinforced my affinity for Costco. I called tire center during what appeared to be an unbeatable July 4th sale: 4 BF Goodrich Tires WITH premium installation (mounting, lifetime balance, road hazard) and tax for $498. After finally getting through, they confirmed sale but advised me to order online and ship to store due to low stock; while on the phone, I completed the online order and made an install appointment. Automated email status/pickup alerts were adequate. On appointment day, I arrived on time to see the auto center had 1 employee and a line of (indecisive) customers. My turn came 15 minutes later; she confirmed tires arrived but the total cost rang up $70+ more than the price previously quoted via phone AND printed on the order confirmation receipt I brought. When I inquired, she said "it's tax." I showed her the lower expected price included tax AND installation. She then stated "cost is subject to current day's pricing. Today you pay for install, $15 each." SAY WHAAAT? When I mentioned being advised to order online, she was stone-faced and didn't budge. I was stuck, so I paid the higher price for what was sure to be a short wait from my previously made appointment, right? Wrong! OVER 2 HOURS LATER, I walked up to the counter to check on progress when she held up my work order bag, signaling it was ready. The cafe has horrible customer service and so does their store front lead. Waited in line for over 10mins to buy two pizzas. Go to order and am told i can only buy four slices. They had 3 full pizzas out and two in the oven. No where does it say you stop serving at a certain time. Told me I had to pay for each slice individually if i wanted a full pizza. Train your people better or display something saying you stop selling at a certain time. read more

Came here to buy a tv and some groceries, some staff are helpful some are just ready to get fired. When we needed help on the tv there's no one to be seen so my mom went to ask a lady at the membership desk to call someone for us. She first ignored my mom when she waived at her she looked like she could care less. Then my mom walked in front of her face and ask her to get someone to help us she looked like "ugh I guess I needa finally do my job" then called somebody on the phone. A while later a guy came over and ask us if we needed help, I said "I want to look at the tv there but it's off, can you turn it on?" And his answer was "What about it?" Ummmmm whattt??? So I repeated myself and he finally woke up from his dream I guess and try to help us. He started looking for buttons on the tv, remote, wires etc, he has no clue how to turn it on. He is totally helpless. He didn't say a word and just kept doing his own stuff and we just started browsing by ourselves. When he finally got that tv on after like 15 mins he just went try turn on another tv which we didn't ask for. I still got other questions with the tvs (channels and specs) but seeing him spending 15 mins to just turn a tv on I just gave up on him. After he got all the tvs on he just left, didn't even ask us if we needed help with something else(because I do) and just disappeared. Finally my mom went to the bathroom and looked for a young man to come help us. He answered all the questions we asked and we got the tv we needed.If we're looking help on the tv section that lady should look for someone who knows about tv, don't send me a guy who can't even get the tv on. If she sent the young man at the beginning we wouldn't waste 15-20 mins just to look at him ignoring us and do whatever he's doing. So we went to the checkout. Some of our items are "one per customer" as the sign said but there are 3 of us so we thought we could pay separately. Apparently it's "one per MEMBERSHIP CARD", which they should put that instead so we won't get confused. Anyways, this cashier told us that but with a very poor attitude like we were trying to steal her water. We didn't even argue with her but just ask her to explain and told her that's fine (we're not rude at all, just trying to understand) , but she's so rude for no reason, looks pissed and took the water out of the cart and hid it under her register. Like chill lady I can go to Kroger and get water if you don't wanna sell it to us lol. After we paid she didn't sat a word and we left. All these bad workers have the common issue, ignoring customers. And they are totally unprofessional like they've never been trained. The only extra star is for the young man and the lady who greeted us and check our receipt. The store is overall clean and neat, just a shame that these bad workers with disgusting attitude have ruined the name of this store. read more

Bacon... I come here more times than none due to the location...super convenient from work. I can honestly say from purchasing gas at a discounted cost and running in to pick a few items, Sams always delivers! This store is set up a bit differently than my main location in Chesapeake, near Chesapeake Square Mall. But the more I visit the more I become familiar with the set up. The parking closest to the doors always seems to fill quickly. But parking is never an issue you just may have to take a couple of extra steps. I last visited here to buy bacon in bulk. I purchased the Smithfield bacon for under $10 I believe, great deal. And this is so worth it than buying a single one pound pack. I have ordered cakes from here...always fresh and delicious. But I can't say I have visited when they have offered samples to the members. I assume they do that here, but I normally visit during the week. Well if you are in the area stop by but a membership card is needed to gain entry. Have fun and enjoy life :) read more

Gas and a bulk snack run. When fueling: I recommend avoiding rush hour if you can, though today, the wait wasn't too terrible. If you use the app, it can make fueling a lot smoother. In the actual store: use your card at the free-osk. You scan it, enter your email and wait for a sample to pop out, mini bite sized poptarts in our case! A few items we wanted weren't available which was a bummer. If you've had the nuggets from a chain that's closed on Sundays, the nuggets here are 10x better and closely related. We did pick up their knock-off sandwiches and waffle fries. Snacks are plentiful and we can always find something new for our kiddo to bring in her lunch box. We're currently on an Oreo brownie and assorted chip box kick. Bring bags if you'd like, but towards the exit they have boxes you can use to transport your items. I find it easier to use a box at the exit since most items are bulk sized. read more

I've been to Sam's Club several times, but not necessarily to the Optical department. I ended up coming in here over the past few weeks as my mom was looking for new glasses. After looking at what BJ's had to offer, along with other places, this is where she would end up getting her glasses. On each of the visits, we primarily worked with Ivy. He was friendly, personable, and great to work with. He laid out all the different options for glasses after the frames were selected. Normally, there would be a one year warranty on glasses. However, for the Nikon eyeglasses offered a two year warranty instead. In the end, the price difference was about $10. With the additional warranty time, it was worth it. About a week later, the glasses came in and got them picked up. Ivy was here as well and was able to get everything ready. There were a few tweaks to be made, but it all ended well. There should only be a few more tweaks to the pads once they come in. Although I can't use my vision plan at Sam's Club, I am glad about the good experience with the optical staff. If my vision plan is accepted by Sam's Club in the future, I would definitely use them in the future for my needs as well. If you are looking for glasses, be sure to check them out. read more

The customer service at the food counter today was horrendous. Is Sam's Club THAT desperate that they hire anyone off the street? The girl with the bandana and fake eyelashes takes the cake. If you're going to work in a customer facing position, at least be customer oriented. She didn't greet customers, acted annoyed that she had to work, barked orders, and gave customers the stank eye. The other younger worker there was no better, throwing around the "F" word. Customers don't need to hear that mess. We just want to get our food and get out. This review is for the AT&T kiosk, which is a third party re-seller. I recently went to my local Sam's Club and when I passed by the AT&T kiosk, took a look at the new iPhones. A salesmen came over to help and said they were running a promotion where they would give me $700 for my old phone. I jumped at that chance to get a new iPhone 12, and even more so when the salesmen said my phone bill would actually go down $5 a month. I didn't have my glasses and relied on him telling me the truth. Saying out loud "this seems too good to be true" was a premonition of what was to come, but I was calmed by the salesman saying that I would have 14 days to take this phone back. He seemed so nice and trustworthy. And after all, this was my fourth phone purchased at this very Sam's Club Kiosk. Within only two business days I had my new phone shipped to me. I immediately sent my old phone back to AT&T. And then I received the email welcoming me to my new Unlimited Talk Text and Data plan at $75...and this was just for me. I had been on my husband's family plan where I only paid $15 a month for my line. This was a mistake. I went into Sam's Club to take this phone back but was met with "sorry I can't help you". Only when I asked for the store manager did the young man call his manager. He was able to get his boss, Tara, on the phone, and she said she would escalate the return, but that would take 72 hours. Mind you, I need to get my old phone shipped back to me. I waited 96 hours and no one called me. I called Sam's club manager on duty and he said there was little that could be done since this was a third party re-seller called Smart Circle. He was able to get the district manager of Smart Circle to call me. Now this guy, William, had an answer for everything, even said that although he could not take my phone back "due to COVID-19" that I could take it to an AT&T corporate store. At this point I realize that this kiosk is predatory scam. Smart Circle lied about my phone bill, Smart Circle lied about having 14 days to take my phone back. Smart Circle lied about being able to take my phone back to an AT&T store. But I thought I would just try anyway. I drove to AT&T. They just confirmed what I already suspected. They cannot take my phone back because they use two different systems and there is no record of my purchase in their system. The very helpful man at AT&T corporate said "I don't want to say this, but they lied to you." Finally someone was telling me the truth. So at this point I know there is nothing more I can do other than call AT&T Loyalty Department and tell them my story. As a customer of 24 years, I was willing to pay off my phone and take my business to Verizon. They were able to make some changes that was a compromise, but in the end, I just wanted my old plan. Due to Smart Circle, that will never happen. So here is my lessons learned: buying your phone from anywhere other than an AT&T Corporate store is like buying your phone from a vending machine. Just don't do it. read more

The same massive warehouse feel, the same concrete floor, the same gigantic shopping carts and flatbed carts. Even the hot dogs are still a dollar. Some differences. There's a much better "fresh" food section with higher end cheeses and meats that looked great. The rotisserie chickens are new and they're a massive amount of protein for $4. Fresh produce section is large. And then all of the dry good. Electronics, clothing, household cleaning chemicals, drinks, canned goods and all sorts. We love Sam's Club but let's face it, the place is always jammed packed with people! I decided to try the online ordering process with pickup option. I had to wait a day for a time slot but that was not a problem. I chose my items, paid and the following day I received a text message that my order was ready and to reply to the text when I arrived. I arrived and let them know I was there and what parking spot I was in. I then went scrolling on my phone to wait for my order to come out. I looked up 2 minutes later and the gal was at my door with my order! I had frozen foods and personal items. I was in shock! She checked my ID and loaded my items and I was outta there is about 6 minutes! I love how Sam's Club has this so organized! Will definitely use this feature next time! read more

Sam's Club has saved my life during this COVID-19 pandemic. I get up a little early and go to the store 45 minutes early and wait in line until they open. The staff is so nice and very informative about what is available in the store. Offering one pack of toilet paper and one pack of paper towels, is how they make sure they have enough for everyone. I've gone to SAM's once a month for my essentials in bulk items for the house to prevent from going out as often. This is my go to store and the membership is very worth it.
