His own designs speak for themselves and he needs no hard sell tactics. Every time I walk into Flamekeepers, the hats compete for my attention. When I walk the streets of NYC, the hats speak for themselves. He can have you on lo pro if you please or he can stir up Trouble with a capital T. I do NOT recommend Bencraft Hatters! I had a terrible experience with a hat purchase in December…read more2022. I ordered a brand new Stetson Saxon in Graphite, but they sent me an old stock in Charcoal instead. The hat also did not come with a Stetson hat box but in a Bencraft hat box. When asked, Bencraft insisted that the colors are similar (they are not), and that their box is better than Stetson's because Bencraft's has a handle (I prefer Stetson's box which has on its side a paper label with hat info). I called the store several times to ask for a replacement, but nothing has been done. They also did not return calls/texts despite their promises to do so. Many calls were also not answered and went straight to voicemail. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in Bencraft Hatters for their lack of intent to make things right and I will be buying my hats elsewhere from now on.

I walked out with a really nice Guerra and on another occasion a Borsalino. easy to get there by train, about 1 min from the subway station. probably the last old time hat shop left in NYC. worth it. Sundays are nice days to shop, the owner is always there, I got Borsalinos there for $350 that cost $500-600 elsewhere. theyre the only guys who still steam up your hat for free,too. Overall a pretty good experience

Jay Z didn't get me to drink Ace of Spades but Jamie Fox wearing a camel fox fedora does have me curious. I've purchased hats at JJ Hat Center as well as FlameKeepers Hat Club. My issue with both locations, they don't offer customization with their products. What impressed me mostly with Bellissimo Custom Hats, is right in the title. They are custom hats that are made in house by hand. They have antique hat machines and sewing machines being used by real people. Bellissimo Custom Hats are just that, its not a massed produced product that you'd buy in a department store. Reading the past yelp reviews had me a little spooked. When I buy a hat, I want to try on the hat as well as inspect the fit and finish. That's why I decided to drive from Long Island to their showroom. Parking? Sucks. I was lucky to find a spot a block away. I get to the front door and I was buzzed inside. Once inside, there are many beautiful hats on display. The sales person had me waiting a few while he finished up his telephone call. Once his call was completed, I introduced myself and said would like to purchase a Camel Fox Fedora. He explained there aren't any in house but there is something similar, its a camel hat but with a smaller ribbon. I try on a medium and fell in love with the fit, finish and color. Sold! Look at my picture, its a pretty dope hat. The gentleman put my purchase in a standard hat box, for $75 bucks I could of purchased an upscale hat box. The cardboard box is fine. Ordered a custom hat Nov 17, 2025, there was no communications from them. Called several times…read moreleaving messages and communicated through email and their website portal with no response. Finally on Dec 31st their customer service rep picks up the phone. Was informed that the color that I ordered was out of stock at the manufacturer, and they were suppose to reach out and inform me. Asked if I wanted another color, of which I said no and requested a refund. He informed me that he didn't have the authority to provide a refund, he would contact the owners and they would get back to me. This never took place, they never responded. Called several more times with the same results. The company lacks integrity, it shouldn't be hard to provide a refund for an item that is out of stock. I'll more forward by contacting card company to get my money refunded.
