IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING USING THIS BUSINESS GO TO ALTEX. My mother recommended me this business after my laptop died. I usually do business with Altex as they are fast, professional, and have reasonable pricing. In the future, I will continue to do business with Altex. I brought my laptop in after initially diagnosing it myself as a burned out motherboard. I told the college-aged intern at the receptionist desk what I believed it to be and he told me they charged a $50 diagnostic fee to identify problems but that it would be used towards labor should it come to that. I told him I really just needed them to locate the motherboard and do the replacement as I have a lack of time. He noted this and I left. About two days later I got a call informing me that my diagnosis was correct and that they could not locate a replacement from a reliable source. They would help me "find a replacement laptop" or I could buy a motherboard from a wholesaler in China, but the business would not undertake the risk, as they often could not reliably get a refund for faulty parts from factories in Shenzhen. As a similar laptop would cost upwards of $1200, I chose to take my risks but ordering a $100 motherboard from China. Two weeks later, the motherboard came in. I delivered it in the box to the repair company. They called me once to say "everything's great! Come pick it up" and then again to say "the motherboard is blown" within about 30 minutes. I went to go find out what happened on my lunch break. I was able to talk to the tech that installed the motherboard who confirmed that it was DOA (dead on arrival). Unfortunately, they did not test it with a voltmeter prior to installing and charged me TWO HOURS OF LABOR. At this point, I am now ~$250 in the hole for a laptop that still does not work. I asked for a manager, and was presented with the lady who initially advised me on my choices. Please note, at this time, I was also in the process of building a laptop via Altex's knowledgable staff. They walked me through the entire process, from picking out parts, to assembly (and they do assembly free should you buy parts there). Extraordinarily professional all around. However, the manager not only initially refused to use my diagnostic fee towards labor (until I told her this is what I was told), she also denied that she advised me that I had "two options" with them. This made me so upset I refused to pay, and left. I consulted my mother, who desperately wanted photos left on the hard drive and said she would pay for the laptop back, so I returned to the store and began paying. As I was in the process of paying, I chatted up the tech who advised me I "should have contacted the original manufacturer to purchase a motherboard. Why did the repair shop not do this themselves. I asked Altex and they said this would have been their first point of contact. I have since disassembled my laptop and had the hard drives installed in my desktop AT NO CHARGE via Altex. Tldr: shady company. Seems manager doesn't know how the industry works. For a comparable price, go to Altex for your hardware needs. read more

MacBook Pro is not useable now and Asus screen was broke upon return and lady in the front just tried handing it to me that way until I went to my car to get my cell phone to take pictures of what they were giving me and she rushed to the back to screw on the bottom of the laptop since everything was just falling apart. I stepped in to computer doctors in a bit of a bind. I was in San Antonio for a conference and my computer decided to stop charging the Monday before my Thursday morning presentation. I walk in on Tuesday morning telling them that my DC power jack was loose and needed it replaced, and it needed to be done by Thursday. I asked them if they could have it done by Thursday, they said if I paid for all the expedited costs they could for sure have it done. Then they ordered the wrong part. Wouldn't be done by Thursday. I asked them if I could have the part number so I could just repair it myself. No we can't give you that information. What? I told them to just fix it and send it to me when I returned to the country in a week so I wouldn't have to worry about it sitting on my porch when I was away (more business). I told them to ship it to me six days ago, and it was shipped yesterday. It will be arriving tomorrow approximately 20 days after I dropped it off. Under no circumstances would I recommend anyone to use this company. It was recommended, the manager made promises that they could fix the hard drive in under 24 hrs. After they had the money started coming up with excuses of we cant guarantees anything, we have a 99% success but I cant give you numbers on success and failures. The manager is a straight up ass. Called a number of companies (at least a dozen) looking for a tech that could come to our business for expedited service. I spent about an hour searching, and calling around, for a company that was available immediately. Our server computer was down and we needed it back up and running FAST! Thankfully, the Computer Doctors had someone on the way to help us within 20 minutes. Ryan got right to work. He determined the power supply was bad and replaced the parts. About 5-10 minutes after he left, we had the same exact issue and had to call the Computer Doctors back to have them return and diagnose what the issue may be. Ryan was on another call at the time, so they sent Colby. He came out and confirmed that it could be another issue with power and the strip we had. Shortly after Ryan came back with a new power strip with surge protection. Everything seemed to work as normal. While we are so grateful for the exceptional customer service from Ryan and Colby, we felt blind sighted by the cost. Originally we were not concerned about the price, because honestly, we NEEDED the help desperately. However, we did not receive an accurate invoice stating the breakdown of charges so the final total was a big surprise after checking our bank statements. The billing department manager was not easy to get in touch with and frankly, not very friendly. Had we not been sticker shocked by the price this review would have gotten a whopping 5 stars... My laptop would not come on or charge. It wouldn't done anything. So I decided to get it looked at instead of upgrading. I looked online and saw that this shop was close to me. First, the receptionist was great. She was very attentive. The other workers seemed very nice also. I left my laptop and waited on the call back. They got to it quickly. The technician called back the next day. He left a brief description. I called back. I asked questions and they were NOT answered to my satisfaction. I just wanted to know what caused it to go black and not start. It was like he wouldn't give me a direct answer. I honestly wanted to know if it was something I did to cause this. He briefly mentioned that there were a few viruses. I go pick it up. The receptionist walked back to speak with the technician and get my laptop. I could hear them in a low voice. I heard him say, "...I don't care what you tell her..." To me, that just sounds rude and unprofessional! Even if it was in reference to my laptop, no customer wants to hear that from a place where they go for services. It makes you think that's the same type of service my laptop received. DO NOT GO HERE! I rarely post bad reviews but honestly I would rather buy a new laptop than give this company any more money. The unprofessionalism, rudeness, and carelessness of this company was shocking. I went in on a Tues was told diagnostic would be done by wed but without an update, I ended up having to call myself. They told me I could have it cleaned of viruses or if I just wiped the computer and started over new it would take less time and be ready by Thurs and also that it might end up in better result. It was a no brainer since I only use the computer for school. I was told i could get a virus protection through them and of course knowing the inevitable i said yes. Thursday came around and I got no update. Friday came around and no update so I called around 3pm and was told the manager was busy so she will call me back. I waited 2 hours and had to call back myself. I was given the same excuse that manager was busy so i told them i had heard that 2 hours ago and i really need a call. The front desk girl assured me i would get a call. Of course I heard nothing. Saturday morning i called and there was no answer and what a surprise!? no voicemail box. Then i drove up there saturday to see a sign that said they were closed saturday sunday and monday for memorial day. How convenient. I wish i had been told that beforehand but of course i hadnt talked to anyone with answers in 3 days so how could i. Tuesday at 1pm they finally call. I go in to pick up my computer after a week of them having it they ask me if now i want virus protection software installed. Which I already told them yes in a phone call last week but they obviously dont keep records. So at this point i tell them NO because i just want my computer out of their possession. The lady goes in the back to get my computer and i can hear the tech say "so im guessing no antivirus?? Wow whats the definition of insanity?" He is basically calling me an idiot! So i say "hey i can hear you" the lady comes back and pretends nothing happened as she explains to me that they in fact did not wipe my computer like we talked about on the phone. Im so glad to have my computer back. I will never go there again. Again, the unprofessionalism, rudeness, and carelessness of this company was shocking. This place is a rip off, beware!!!!!! This lady Elli Tobias does not know computers. She said on her review that her friend referred her, and she works there? She is completely dishonest. I took my computer there because my "n" key was not working and they tell me to come pick it up cause it was working for them and when I go and pick it up they charged me a $89.00 walk in fee. What the heck is that? I feared that when I walked in just talking to the lady. She dressed professional,however just speaking to her it was obvious she knows nothing about computers. My mistake, now I'm warning you DONT DO THE SAME Great customer service is not trying to gouge you, it's being honest and reassuring people your honest, so the relationship is built on trust. My husband and I have used SACD for all of our websites for our different companies and also for any of our computer help with systems or installations. They are prompt and "go above and beyond". I have been recommending them for years. My family all uses their services and my friends do too.
