The local gets lively in the evening with business people and area residents and shoppers. Tappas vary and are of higher quality than is often found in cafeterias and cheaper establishments (not that the others are bad mind you). The inside has two floors and a full bar on the first. If you order some wine, you get free tapas with that and every day there are different tapas. The white wine is really light and refreshing and the tapas are a good size. Not too little, not too much. The service is excellent although when this place does get busy, the kitchen sometimes get backed up a little. So over the course of 6 days, here's what I had: Chincho - fried fish (complimentary with wine) Tortilla (complimentary with wine) Arroz marinero - one of my favorites. It's write with seafood (also complimentary with wine) Fideua- pasta with seafood (complimentary with wine) Empanada de mejillones (complimentary with wine) Entree Ensalada tibia - salad with fried goat cheese!! They give you olive oil and vinegarette so you can adjust how much dressing to put in Bocato Caprichoso - HUGE portions! This sandwich is made to order so everything is fresh. I could eat this every day Empanadillas (6) you get to choose between fish, chorizo, or beef. Calamares - huge plate of deep fried calamari. Be sure to squeeze the lemon and dip that in garlic aioli sauce. It's heaven Pulpo - Galician octopus with olive oil and paprika - cooked to perfection. Not chewy at all Hamburguesa manchega - this is the biggest burger I've ever seen. Also all the ingredients are made when ordered. The sweet peppers really added a lot of flavor to the burger. It's located right bang in the center of the city and its has as its outdoor sitting area a park!! The food has improved over the last years,now offering a much modern take on local classics but they also offer traditional Galician dishes such as the octopus or the "croquetas" Downstairs they have a tavern, that it's great for having a glass of wine with a tapas, that are always free. Every other minute one of the waiters will walk around with a tray full of tapas and your can take as many as you want!yes free. My advise if you are planning on having lunch at some point is not to over do it as it's likely it will kill your appetite! This place is new on Avenida de Galicia. A Dispensa de Piñeiro seems to be a franchise and looks a bit standard. However, the coffees and breads are of good -bakery- quality and like lots of food in Spain of a good price. Breakfast (coffee, orange juice and croissant) is sold for about €3,50. Besides that lots of other pastries like torta de manga a, empanadas, pan de chorizo or breada to take away (also wholewheat and spelt) are sold. So, a good place to start your day. Or like I did, take a coffee latte para llevar with a croissant and a pain au chocolat for just €3,- and sitting down in the children's playground across the street (next to the bus station). Part of my perfect holiday.

Cafeteria Brothers is located at this square. This is a good spot to catch some sun and just sit in the shade and watch Galician life going on. Brothers has the standard things a bar offers: drinks and some little snacks (like crisps). One of the assets bis the snacks you get with your drinks: with only one sparkling water I got nuts, crisps and a bocata (a small bread with a topping). With coffee you get sweet things like pastel. Some days there is a little podium for musicians. There is no tapas menu, so just come here for the drinks! What I like about this square is that you will barely find any strangers (like yourself) and you will be surrounded by locals who go here at night to meet their friends and family. For me a holiday does not get any better, just enjoying these simplicity of normal life: a nice drink, kids laughing, birds chirping, sun on your skin.
