There counselors are from the bottom of the barrel. One son was required to take 3 extra classes because they kept changing the requirements. It was not true. My son was taught to honor adults and these people were suppose to be there to help students. That is WHY YHEY DON'T LET PARENTS TALK WITH SCHOOL STAFF, because adults would catch on to there graft. Another son has just been told half the classes he took, because of another counselor, were not needed, buy wasted his time and money. The school itself is good, but their counselors are bad. read more

Sometimes I attend this campus when I take one or two classes that have only good teachers at Central campus than a South. I took English Comp 1 here with Mr. Mayo it was a good class and he was a great and humorous teacher. I learned a lot in that course. I also passed that course with an A. The campus student center is a bit more updated than South campus. I like how they have both home cooking meals and fast food. South doesn't have that which is a problem because people don't like to eat fast food greasy food all the time. The student center also has a TV with comfortable chairs to relax in after a big test. A lot of areas to chill and relax from all the classes you have to take. I really do think this campus should be turn into a university, just because you have to walk a distance to get the next building. Certain nights they have movie and a lawn with FREE snacks, drinks, and popcorn!! I just wish South had stuff like that. They also have different campus events too and cool clubs too!! The staff is nice and friendly too! Also, you will have those people who are mean and rude but you'll just need to know how to play back the hard ball and be nicer back to them. Great campus, but my home is at South. I will every blue moon take classes here since the professors here are somewhat a little bit better and its the first built campus. read more

San Jac is a good lil community college on the South and SE side. Tuition is ridiculously low if you live in the area, and you can't beat getting the basics out of the way before transferring. There are convenient campuses. Unfortunately, since it's a community college, there's not much of a campus life, and some kids think of it as as "extended high school". I'm a little baised because I taught at San Jac for a couple semesters as an adjunct professor, but now I'm actually taking an online Spanish course and it couldn't be more convenient for me! Between work and kids, I can get on and work whenever I have free time! They have everything from basics for transferring to culinary school to truck driving school to continuing ed classes. I used to tend to associate community colleges with easiness because of the lack of prestige in comparison to "hot shot" universities. You've more than likely seen these prestigious facilities in movies where the classrooms are huge auditoriums and the professors are merciless with their lectures. It definitely isn't the case with San Jacinto College. The classes are about the same size--if not a bit bigger--as high school classrooms. The average size gives a more personalized atmosphere in comparison to the auditoriums in universities, which is a good thing if you're the kind of student who needs constant explanations from a teacher during a lecture. Keep in mind, San Jacinto seems to be doing a very great job at keeping up with universities as far as the education goes. You may be paying less at San Jacinto, but you're getting the very good, quality education universities give too. Like I said, I used to tend to associate community colleges with easiness, and boy, was I wrong. I've had many friends come from U of H with their degrees saying San Jacinto was just as difficult, if not more, than U of H. The pricing is very fair for a community college. On average, I've spent between $400-$500 on tuition each semester for four to five classes. The pricing on textbooks vary. The size of the school is great--especially if you're the kind of person who feels disgusted with massive establishments. To get from one end of the school the to the other is really no hassle. The school is split into different buildings (Science/Math building, Drama building, etc.). There are many great services provided free of charge. The school provides tutoring in virtually every major subject. A weight room is free for anybody with a student ID after about 2p.m. If you're the kind of person who can't live without checking your e-mail between classes, the computer lab is there with plenty of PC's and a few Macs. Barnes & Noble recently acquired the school's book store, thus revamping the atmosphere of the store in general. B&N also brought a Starbucks for those people who pull all-nighters before a major test. Overall, the school is great. read more

Great school, campus, programs, and staff. The adult programs are the best. If you are a returning student over the age of 50, don't be intimidated to return to classes on this campus. San Jacinto College is a great community college. The professors are challenging, class size is no more than 30 students (so you really get to know the professor and students), and the tuition is very affordable. Each campus offers a variety of degree possibilities and transferring to a University is easy. I would recommend SJC to anyone looking to further their education. read more

I began attending San Jacinto College North Campus EMS program in the spring of 2010. I would suggest that all prospective students avoid this school for several reasons, all of which I have experienced first-hand. The faculty treat students like 3 year-olds. I was yelled at during class because I went to the water fountain to get a drink of water. The teacher in class (Cindy Lemoine) gave preferential treatment to certain students while others were admonished for the same thing. For example, a certain student would argue over exam questions he thought were graded incorrectly. The teacher would often retract that question and give extra points. If another student tried to argue against a question, the teacher would That was just the classroom portion of the class. There was also a clinical portion. This was run by Michael Cooper and everything was overseen by John Hamilton. The OR shifts were run by Doug Chappell. We were forced to use an inadequate website for signing up for shifts. The locations were mis-classified and named incorrectly. For example, I signed up for a rotation at Harris County. No specific location was specified so the student usually ended up showing up at the wrong location. The worst personal experience happened when Doug Chappell wrote me a nasty email stating that I was not being given credit for a rotation because the paramedic in-charge signed his portion of my report incorrectly. I finally left the school when I was placed on clinical suspension without being told why. I tried to figure it all out but these people are on a power trip. If you need any further proof as to why you should steer clear of this place, take a look at the National Registry results. This is like the "SAT" exit exam of EMS. San Jacinto College Emergency Medical Technology program has a first-time pass rate of 40%. The national average is about 80%.
