I brought in my Velotric e-bike with a rear puncture and they were able to look at it right away on a Sunday. As other reviews mentioned, it's a small shop, but that meant I could chat with the technician while he worked and he could offer me various options. He replaced the rear inner tube and added a liner and sealant, plus added sealant to the front tire (I would've had him add a liner to the front tire, too, but he only had one in the right size). I'd never had the bike serviced since I bought it online 6 months ago, so he checked and tightened various loose connections. He showed me some basic maintenance procedures like how to lubricate the chain (easy when you know how, but as a biking n00b, I appreciated the lesson). If I need work done in the future, I'll be a happy repeat customer. read more

This place is pretty awesome. The place has a ton of bikes and boards everywhere. It can be a bit of a tight squeeze going in here especially if its crowded. They do have plenty of options in terms of parts. They also have some other accessories as well like phone cases. There were only two staff member. Because of the tighter space, it can be a bit difficult to see where the line to get help is and where people are just browsing. The staff here is not bad. They were really helpful to my friend who needed a piece removed off his bike. They were kind enough to give it a try even though it was going to be a tough piece to remove. They were able to do it and the staff was kind to not charge but we paid something for the help. Overall the place can feel a bit cluttered but they do a have a lot of bike options. The staff is kind but the layout does make it harder to know if you are in line or the person in front is just browsing. read more

To start with the location, there sign is not easy to see from the road. But after a U-turn I found it. Found plenty of parking and I will come back to the plenty of parking after the visit with the too busy to help another customer bike shops. When I first walked into the shop, wow! Oh my goodness do they have a lot of bikes! I just swished my way in and hoped I would find the right person to talk to? I thought I got the guys attention? He did stop tapping on the tablet to kinda answer my quick question? But before I now it, I was moved to the side, because I guess I didn't realize he was already helping a customer. Well I waited for a second, because he did say he would help me? I wasn't too sure, so I stood around. Making it look like I was waiting for someone to help me. Well after he was done with the customer, he proceeded to move outside to help someone else, I don't now the order of when I came in and when I can be helped? But he could have told me, right after he just end his conversation, I was standing right there. But no he processed to move to some else and talk about what when on last night, rude! So I started to walk out slowly, to make it obvious, the guy was still shooting the breeze and didn't bother to say anything like can I help you, nope nothing. And to the parking lot with plenty of spots to park. I get a truck park right up close to my driver side door :) thanks! I always get great customer service every time I visit here. I once accidently came after their hours of operation, but I still received 40+ minutes of great customer service. The hubby and I have been bike shopping. We're not big bike experts and the least thing we expected was to know how pricey bicycles have got with the years. We went to a shop before making our final stop at SAN JOSE BICYCLES and the guy wasn't too friendly so we left. We found SJB and let me just say... as soon as we walked up to their shop we were greeted and helped right away. They let us try out the bikes before purchasing. The young guy was super friendly from start to finish. After a lot of going back & forth between hubby and I on which bikes, the next question was "how do we fit them in our suv"? We were able to fit them and another gentleman there (I believe he was the owner) helped us place them into our suv and even gave us a cardboard box to protect the bikes. Guess what? There's a Pandemic happening. I read all the 1 star reviews. You guys need to realize what is happening. This shop is Legit! Everyone that works there is legit. I wanted to get a Aventon-Mataro but there was none in stock. I'm a short guy. Alex asked me what I wanted, suggested a Prime series bike vs a larger Aventon. I bought it and was suggested other accessories. Cool thing is there was no pressure on any purchase items. He brought out items and explained the features etc., patiently waited for me to make a decision and sold me what I wanted. You can't get more professional then that! I rode the Prime for 2 weeks and went back and saw the Aventon-Mataro back in stock but the frame was too big and tried a Aventon-Cardoba. Nice but wasn't feeling it. Aaron went to the back and checked for more and found one that fit with the color I wanted. So I bought it and will pick it up later today. Let's just say I can't see one negative thing about these guys. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help. All you impatient MF need to chill the F out! It a Pandemic MFers! Saw on Google and Yelp that San Jose Bicycles had decent reviews but I truly had a horrible experience. I and my wife went there just to do a simple pedal swap and front tire inner tube swap. 1st the person who was working on our bikes keep talking to his friend's nonstop and keep dropping our bicycle pedals in front of us I was shocked how he was treating out bicycle parts like garbage. Now my Crank Brothers Stamp 11 pedals have a bunch of scratches, not only that but bolt on the right pedal is completely ruined. As for the front inner tube the PSI was so low my wife said that the front tire was wobbling while she was riding, we had to stop at the side of the road to use our mini pump to pump up the tires. Please see the pictures below basically my $300 dollar pedals completely ruined I'm also concerned if my crank threads are ruined or not. I have personally bought a vintage Fuji 12-s and a 7-S KHS urban commuter and they have been both great finds for my use, taste and style. This shop is always packed. So much is happening here all the time. The space is like partly a wall of bikes and partly a thousand things to bump into and possible knock over. It is not a show room with a huge foyer. SAN JOSE BICYCLES is better than a show room. I went in need of a bike and I just kept being annoying and complaining about what I didn't like. I was horrible and yet the guys working here still seemed to make time for me even with all the other people around needing help and attention. I test road bike after bike until I started to figure out what I wanted. The owner of the shop is Aaron and he has patience and personality. I finally figured out what brand I liked so I got online and found a model of Aventon that I wanted. I told Aaron and he was more concerned with making sure that I got the bike that was right for me than making the sale. He even encouraged me to go to another bike shop that had it for a test ride. So I did. I test road it and went back to Aaron to place my order. He got me the cargo bike from Aventon so fast. He even stayed late with an employee to put it together for me because he knew I needed it asap. No matter how many stupid questions I have or how many times I call the parts the wrong names the guys at this shop have stood by and politely helped me get what I needed. I am really happy to have found San Jose Bikes. Came here to check out what they had. I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to buy a new bike but we ended up leaving with not just one bike but two. Alex was super awesome, knowledgeable and patient with us. He helped us try (and retry) several bikes to see how they felt. He was very helpful in pointing out differences for each of the different bikes. This was useful in helping us figure out which bikes would best suit our needs. Luckily, I found San Jose Bicycles. I took my bike there this weekend and when they told me what it would cost for them to do the work for me, i jumped on it right away. Aaron ( the owner i think) was quite busy but he promised me he can get it done by the next day, which was memorial day. Well true to his word I came the following day and picked up my bike. Great Work ethic, no matter how small the purchase, they care about service! I've bought 4 bikes from here. Bike 1: Free agent BMX race bike. I went here when my son wanted to try BMX racing, they gave me great advice and help me build it from scratch! They took precise measurements of my son and built it to perfection. I came by to bleed my road bike's hydraulic brakes after seeing great reviews from Yelp. I was nervous however when I brought my bike in as the shop doesn't seem to have experience servicing these road bikes so it took them a few days to figure it out. I needed a new bike as my old one's frame was about 3" too short for my giant butt to ride comfortably. Getting properly fitted up during covid times is a challenge but SJ Bicycles helped me admirably! First a note: their site says to call before you come in but this info is outdated. You can come during their open hours, you just have to line up outside, wear a mask, and respect social distances. They talked to me about my riding preferences, found a couple bikes in their inventory with large frames that fit the bill, and I walked out with a bike I love for a great price the same day. Everyone was super nice and they did a great job of managing social distance for their small space. I especially love that their new bikes come with 30 and 90 day checkups so you can be confident your bike is in great shape. They won a loyal customer from me today and I'll definitely be using them for all my maintenance after covid is gone 25 years from now. read more

There's always a line at this place, not because it's popular but because the workers are very slow. Twice I came in the last month to try to buy something and there's literally three people ahead of me in line and I have to wait 30-40 minutes both times and still did not get to the front of the line. I decided my time was better spent driving down the street to a different bike shop and bought what I needed in less time than it would have taken to get to the front of this one. Zero Stars if I could. Busy they are, but not for selling bikes. I waited a half an hour in a line very patiently - like an angel, understanding that they were busy and hopefully easy to work with on my new bike - excited to have a good relationship with my local bike shop. It was a Tuesday close to closing time and I thought it would be a light evening... no chance. This shop is way over its head. They were very busy and obviously since they are swamped with tire changes and chain repairs they can afford to treat people badly. They treated me like a fool.. telling me to go elsewhere to buy a bike if I didn't like their schedule. They were too busy to entertain a bike sail when I waited a half an hour and was ready to buy a bike. They insinuated that I was "acting some sort of a way," when I patiently waited 30 minutes and was still chill enough to offer to let the next person go before me so that the business could clear out another customer that was at the counter so I could look at a couple of the bikes inside before I made my choice. This is the second time I came to the shop and every time I was given a minimum of 5 minutes to get information on a purchase. The first visit was early in the Covid opening, and I was given the brush then... but two or so months later I was still treated poorly by their people. A real shame that this bike shop has such a poor business model. They should have at least one salesman on hand to support sales, since due to an obnoxious pair of self-entitled - we have all the business we need (or at least they can handle) types will keep me from coming back, cause me to write this detailed review in many forms of media and in the end not recommend or become repeat business. They relegated my relationship and hopes to make a bike purchase and have a solid old fashion bike shop relationship - to giving me only one choice from the three bikes on the outside display. This is my go to bike place. They can handle pretty much any maintenance and assist you in choosing whatever parts and specs you may need for anything with wheels. Labor costs are very affordable and they'll always recommend the best options for a reliable bike within whatever budget you provide. If they don't have what you need in stock, they'll refer you to somewhere that might have it or even order it for you. I recently brought back a bike I bought from them years ago, and they offered to do the maintenance free of charge, and I just paid for the parts. I also brought a damaged bike that was in a car crash, and they walked us through the repair process and prices of parts the whole step of the way. Didn't even take 30 min despite it being pretty busy. Really genuine employees that are passionate and knowledgeable of their jobs. Always eager to spread the love for biking and assisting any and all customers with whatever they may need. Will be coming back for future bike needs! read more
