Didn't have a good experience there. When I went there to park, it was great because I found a spot close to the convention center entrance from the attached parking building. I took a picture of where I parked and entered the convention center. Unbeknownst to me, that door was one way only and the parking building couldn't be entered from that dor from the convention center side. So when I left the event to get to my rental car, I found that same door locked and I went through a different door to access the parking building. The ticket payment booth was just right at the new door I went through to enter the parking building. I paid and there was no sign on it saying there was a time limit after paying. I had difficulty finding my parked rental car from that new door. By the time I found it and drove to the entrance, I scanned my ticket and the screen showed I still had to pay. I pushed the emergency button for assistance to explain that I'd already paid, and that's when I found out they had a time limit from when you pay for the parking ticket to drive out of the building. I explained that I had difficulty finding my parked car from the new door I had to take and finally I was given a reprieve. PAY at the exit unless you're familiar with the parking building. read more

Very large and beautiful structure with excellent security, huge halls and comfortable seat and table for over six thousand attendees. The multimedia with four large screens and absolutely stunning clarity with perfect audio PA system impressed me with this modern architecture! The bathroom is also clean and well maintained. The kitchen is where the five stars come in. The constant breakfast and snacks and lunch are served quickly with no issues. The coffee table had no problem with running out of anything. read more

This was my 3rd time visiting the San Jose Convention Center for events but my 1st time attending one of this magnitude. To the average person, it's just a game of grown sweaty men going after a football but to us NFL fans, it's everything. It's the mecca, the pinnacle of American sports. It's the most coveted trophy in all of the sports in the USA. I was very fortunate to be present at my first Opening Night for a Super Bowl. The event was a little unorganized on the outside but other than that, it was really fun! read more

It was easy to navigate the three floors of the section we were using, but the building seemed much bigger from the outside. There could have easily been several conferences going on at the same time. Nice facilities, easy walk to eats or boba, if you have free time. Parking is scarce, so getting dropped off is best. read more

It's great to have this convention in San Jose for all the sci Fi and fantasy fans. It feels like we have a different convention roll through every couple of years, but this was well-organized, plenty of artists, vendors, and autograph/photo ops. The spaces were well-maintained w/ a decent set of food options available. There seems to be less & less comic book-focused artists & vendors with each passing year, but still plenty for fans of all types of sci-fi fantasy to peruse & blow money on. Love supporting local artists & vendors, so those are always great to see. There was an extensive list of panelists & the panel rooms each had digital schedules displayed which was helpful. There were multiple alleys of celebs to meet - this year had a nice aisle full of folks from Star Trek which was cool Droid builders and cosplayers were all out in full force, so that was fun to see as well. Had a great time & got about 13,000 steps today because of the con, so yay! read more

This place is huge, I thought it was pretty cool that the entrance to the Hilton was right there. It makes it very convenient if you're attending an event at the convention center. You can definitely make your steps for the day walking around here. The place itself was clean along with the restrooms. It wasn't all rundown looking. We had gone here for a lowrider/impala car show. There are definitely a lot of areas for paid parking as well. read more

It's my first time coming to this convention and specifically I came here for GalaxyCon. It's a really big convention center with a huge hall. I heard that it often hosts Crunchyroll events, but am unsure if they still do them. Really had a chance to roam around the building and it's good for con events because vendors can host booths at a huge hall. I remember walking past by that convention center and there was many people cosplaying as anime characters at the front. So that was whole commotion is all about. I honestly hope that they don't demolish that building down because it's a good place to rent it I think. So if you live around the Bay Area, you most likely go to this location to attend like an anime con events. I'd be a good experience to meet up with people read more

The last time I was here was about 4 years ago for the Crunchy Roll Anime Expo. I was recently here for the California Dental Association (CDA) Convention, it was the Art+Science of Dentistry Event. I had attended with the office I work with, and it was very fun and didn't know what to expect! There were 3 lectures we had to attend for licensing credits which was awesome! A total of 6 credits. The best lecture had to be with speaker Dr. Uche Odiatu, DMD. The exhibit hall had many booths, most giving out free swag. I can't wait for more dental conventions and making connections. A few downsides ~~ 1. There weren't many options for food. 2. The parking fee is pretty steep ~ was $25.00 for the whole day. 3. You have to check in/out with your badge for each lecture - can be a bit of a wait. read more

Don't host a conference or event here and if you are a supposed to attend a conference or event here, don't! My organization used this space for a large conference. The first day we arrived, we went into the grand ballroom for a welcome dinner and a light fixture feel from the ceiling and almost impaled someone from my group. The light fixture hit the table, shattered, and shrapnel hit my group instead. When looking at the table, the table was visibly damaged due to the impact as the ceiling is very high up. Later, I find out that a number of people from our organization became ill after eating the food that this center prepared. We had another dinner later in the week. I became extremely ill with food poisoning after eating the food that this facility prepared. I seriously considered going to the hospital because I was unable to keep any water down. Don't have or attend events or conferences here unless you have a death wish! read more

Not a bad venue! Pretty huge with multiple floors and smack in the middle of the city. I was here for a tech conference and was impressed with the layout. I ended up staying at a nearby hotel and commuted in via electric scooter rentals lol, worked better than coffee to wake me up! This place was super easy to find and there's a lot of restaurants and hotels close by. Hell the tech conference even had Snoop perform in their back lot and was able to have enough room for all of us. I would totally come back here for another conference! read more

I came here for a conference this year. I stayed at the Hilton which is conveniently attached to the convention center. I thought the layout of the convention center was kind of confusing. Rooms were in weird locations and hard to find at times. The wifi was terrible. It was very slow and you couldn't get a steady connection in some of the rooms. Good WiFi should be a given at a convention center. The rooms were freezing. It was 80 degrees outside, but I had to wear pants and the only warm up jacket I brought and I was still cold. Overall, I've been to much better conference venues than this one. read more

The convention was having an annual Silicon Valley Auto Show. It was a rainy day so we decided to come here early to avoid the large crowd. It was our first car show in San Jose, so I'm looking forward to what they got line up for the upcoming 2017 models. We got the chance to see the new Acura NSX, BMW M740i, Lambo, Mclaren, Nissan GTR, etc. Chevrolet had a lot of nice models such as the Corvette and Camaro. BMW had the X5, X6, M4, M240i, and M740i, i3, and i8. Some of the cars they let you sit inside to feel the comfort and explore the nice interiors. Some of the car brands let you test drive their new models. It was a great experience and I'm looking forward to come again next year. read more

I felt like a kid at the candy store the second I got my wristband. Thanks to Goldstar for the half off entrance fee! The line at Will Call wasn't an issue for me but then again it was probably because I arrived 25 minutes early. I'm never late. Thought to myself that I may be the first to go in because things seemed quiet however, that assumption went down the drain the second I saw the long ass line to get in. Folks in line has checked in and got their wristbands; damn them for being earlier than me. Quest Nutrition came out to pass the "free sample cards". I can't understand why since Quest was giving one bar away per individual and the "sample card" wasn't needed. The line to get in went by rapidity fast. Before I knew it, I was at my first booth. I read what they had to offer and was in awe of their pull-up bars (contest galore throughout the event). Next to this booth was Quest. I don't just like this particular brand but I love it. Quest Bars are healthy and literally guilt free. I live by their hashtags via IG: #onaquest #cheatclean I'm always on a quest for a better me. Had a great time talking to the folks from just about every booth and I learned a lot. I tried flavored egg whites (hella good). I now can't wait for the UFC Gym that will open in Sunnyvale in September. Please note that this gym will be opened 24 hours, has a kids' center, kids' workout area (jiu jitsu, kickboxing, etc.) to the usual gym machines and equipment a plus classes: Krav Maga, Muay Thai, etc. Have always loved Pure Protein bars but I was stoked when I saw the new line: baked protein bars. They are not like rubber like the majority of the bars. The Met-RX Protein Pancakes were delicious and as guilt-free as possible. It tastes just like regular pancakes. Watched endless CF competitions, the Strong Man competition, and met so many great trainers and reps from www.bodybuilding.com. I was there by myself 90% of my time there so I was given lots of samples (one sample per person) and was approached frequently... Next year, I am bringing my kids. It is very important to me that my kids are active. I did not know parents would bring their kids to this thing but I saw quite a few and they were all not new to the fitness world. I love that. I only come to this convention center when there are anime expos, so of course I'm going to love this place. It's nice and spacious, and there are multiple smaller rooms where presentations can happen. It's also pretty easy to navigate which is a plus. read more

The San Jose McEnery Convention Center is a good facility. I attended the Big Wow Comic Fest the past few years held here. The floorplan is good with multiple convention halls and small conference rooms. It's a good place to hold an event, whether a convention or a trade show. The area has decent food options that's walking distance too and it's close by to hotels as well. It's conveniently off of the freeway and easy to access. There's adequate parking facilities within the convention and adjacent hotel, as well as alternative (and cheaper) parking outside in the surrounding area. I think we paid $20 per day and I think the outdoor lots within walking distance is around $5 per day. The only downside to parking at the facility is "access" if you leave your car after hours beyond when the convention center closes, and you'll have to sweat it out a bit 'til you figure out how to get in, then get to an open door, then get to your car (and at that point it's easy to pay at the self-service machine) and leave. It's not horribly difficult but it's not self-explanatory, intuitive nor outlined outright. read more

A very large convention center that's also connected to the Hilton and the Marriott. I've been here for two conventions: Silicon Valley Comic Con and Fanime. It's clean and spacious, though it gets incredibly packed during the peak times of the convention. There's an upper floor with many rooms, with the bigger auditoriums used for the Artist Alleys and Dealers Hall. The food court doesn't look particularly appetizing, and we've always just went to other places in the surrounding area for food. Thankfully, there are many, many food choices in the area. For parking, there are a few parking choices around, but they can fill up super quickly, so we've used a parking garage farther away, or just use Uber or Lyft. read more

I hadn't been to this place since I was a student in '02, it looks pretty much the same but it definately could use some more work especially in the bathrooms..YIKES! Went to the Community Grand Opening on Thurs 10/10/13. Many vendors - got a VTA gray bag, some candy, cookies. Some snacks to eat: hot dog w/ bun cut up, cut up pretzel, cut up churro, some tator tots, bottled water, some lemonade or black tea, coffee, tea bags. Went to the 5:30pm first Bugs Bunny Symphony II - Silicon Valley Symphony played the music to Bugs Bunny cartoons. That was fun. Heard some speeches from Team San Jose, Mayor Chuck Reed, Councilmember Sam Liccardo, & another guy. They also turned on the Idea Tree - public art. That was ok, doesn't work that great to me. I'm sure I've had plenty of opportunities to attend conferences at the San Jose Convention Center, but since I commute from San Francisco without a car, I usually turn them down. I'm glad I finally came for the Watermark Conference for Women, which involves over 6,000 people at one event. That's insane! The convention center is so easy to navigate. It's aesthetically pleasing. There are plenty of areas cleverly perfect for volunteer headquarters, breakout rooms, and an exhibit hall. I'm not sure how it is to work with the venue during the planning process, but everyone who works here (perhaps it's a union property) was nice and helpful. I had a great experience here overall. Love the design and colors of everything. It's located walking distance from the Caltrain station, near the theater, and next to many restaurants. It's ideal for a large conference or convention. I look forward to attending another one here! read more

Great complex. Every year its expanding areas it seems. For real, it's a cool place. It just also seems like 3 of the restrooms I visited didn't expand to have changing tables. Next Auto Show that comes around, I'll have to see which car has the best back seat for diaper changes. Beware the parking! $28 if you go into the Hilton parking lot. The other one is $20 and across the street and there is another garage for under ten but I couldn't find it. This place is nice. The layout is nice and clean and there are little pockets of areas where you can carry on a private conversation or make a phone call. Located in a high traffic area, it can take a while to get out of the parking garage and get to the highway. Nice big rooms and lots of light in the main hallways. It doesn't look like your standard old convention center which is nice. This place is somewhat huge. I came here with a bunch of my co-worker and a good friend for the Silicon Valley International Car show 2014 event. Cool event as it is my first time attending a car show. The parking is doable. Be sure to know where you parked before you leave!! I had a hard time finding my vehicle because all the levels exactly look alike and identical. Be sure to remember where you parked, folks! Came to this convention center for Fanime. Honestly was surprised to see how small it was compared to our convention center back home. I thought SJMCC has a great location, it was close by everything. Lots of eateries and hotels right there too. I was here for the Fanime Convention and it was a lot bigger than I imagined. The place itself was huge, accommodated everything fairly well but parking was on the expensive side (which was no surprise). I love that were were bathroom's everywhere and large ones too. This was the first time that I did not see a line in the girl's bathroom even during the times when the place was packed. As for the convention itself, the merch hall and artist's hall was filled with amazing things. The gaming one was a bit empty... I feel like things could've been organized around a bit better though. The people managing lines for the merch hall were nice and directed the line effectively (no fire hazards and such.) My one problem was the check-in downstairs. The line was looped around so much that I never once saw it full. The volunteers made someone with a limp walked the entire empty loop line and yelled at them when they tried go under ( a bit rude on the volunteer's part). It kind of made my blood boil but was told the keep quiet or risk getting thrown out. If I didn't pay so much for a ticket, I'd give that volunteer kid a piece of my mind. Final Thoughts: The center itself was perfect for the event, inside and out. As for the convention itself, everything was awesome except the line incident. read more

First time at Team San José... And it was good Attended the Wireless Broadband Alliance conference at San José Convention Center this week. It's across and down from the Fairmont. Large spaces, congregation areas for side sessions, cool patio, connected to the Hilton, and good acoustics. Only knock would the navigating. There were a few events going and signage was unclear where to head for ours. We wandered a bit, before finally seeing our colleagues and joining up with them. Will look forward to the next conference at the SJCC. read more

With a bombed out-looking building adjacent to the entrance of the Convention Center, my recent conference here didn't bode well. For work, I've done the conference circuit a bit as of late, over the last few years. I've been to some really beautiful spaces, and haven't really encountered a Conference Center a city should be embarrassed about, but San Jose's Convention Center has some issues. Disheveled-look aside (due to dilipadated building mentioned earlier), there were other issues which made me just say, "what, what?" (and not in a good way. The Exhibition Hall where we exhibited at just looked old. The roof looked like panels were going to fall down in clouds of spiderwebs and dust. The bathrooms had entrances like janitor closets (and the urine-y smells inside didn't improve things at all). So yeah, maybe this place has renovation written all over it, and it's already in the works. As it stands now, if I was San Jose, I'd be red-faced embarrassed. Now, I should say that the staff working the banquets were super nice, and professional, and provided excellent dining experiences. read more

And there was only one white coupe right next to us near the pay staton and they didn't have security cameras to see!! So better be Very careful in that garage,,. They will not be able to protect you or your car!!! And they say they will assist you and they don't!! So I do not recommend ever going there alone and take a pic of the license plate of the car next to you because they will very well key your car like they did mine at the Fit Expo 2014!!! read more

From Fanime, car shows to high school graduations, this Convention can hold them all! The convention center is easily accessible in a multitude of ways and is a large venue. With two levels and various halls, the convention center is perfect for any kind of event, convention or any other social gathering. It's always kept clean, is spacious and air-conditioned. There's plenty of access to restrooms and have small cafes nearby. Parking is decent as you can park at the Hilton or any other Public Parking structure nearby for little to no pay. read more

042 / 100 - 2016 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. I've been here twice for Fanime and each time has been awesome. The SJ convention center is a lot smaller than say the convention center for Comic Con in San Diego or the convention center for Anime Expo in LA, BUT don't let its size fool you! It's located in downtown San Jose and has SO MUCH FOOD within walking distance. There are tons of great places to eat, such as the burritozilla at Iguanas, boba shops, and so forth. It's also within walking distance to a lot of hotels so if you ever find yourself here for a convention, there's no doubt that you'll be able to find a place to stay easily! The only downside to this convention center is the lack of parking. Like every other downtown, it's mostly got parking lots you pay to stay in for a day or metered street parking. I stayed in a hotel nearby so I just walked everywhere lol. If I wasn't walking, I used Lyft or Uber. Despite its size, Fanime was able to put in A LOT of different things: a game/arcade room, an artist alley, an exhibit hall filled with food & vendors... not to mention all the other rooms dedicated to anime/movie marathons. If they weren't able to find a place at the convention center, it spilled over to one of the hotels nearby -- which was a hop, skip, and a jump away. The only thing I wish the convention center had was a bigger lobby!!! The lighting isn't the most AMAZING thing inside, unfortunately, and as someone who prefers natural light over indoor lighting... it bums me out that there isn't much space to take nice/quick photos of cosplayers. :( Overall I've got nothing really bad to say about the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. This was my first time in the San Jose Convention Center. Over 12,000 chairs were set up in rows. People gathered in this arena for an amazing teaching from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on October 12, 2010. Gyuto Vajrayana Center did an amazing job in hosting the event. The staff and security were friendly for the excited patrons of this event. Booths were set up outside for foreigners and tourists as well. Many people have traveled far to hear him speak. His Holiness spoke of the Eight Verses of Training the Mind. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts and perception that boggled my mind that day. Eight Verses of Training the Mind gave strategies that combated our destructive and negative emotions to calm our minds. When our minds are calm, we can distinguish and analyze what is real and unreal. We are able to see the whole picture by looking at more than one perception or dimension in our lives and in our relationships since everyone has their own perception of reality. We are able to make the "right" choices. So that means, then our perception is also an illusion of our reality. Since we are aware that our own perceptions are illusions and others' perceptions are illusions, aren't we gazing at a bunch of illusions? If one has a calm mind, then one will see the "whole" picture, the main reason of what has resulted from "our" thoughts and "our reality." This will help solve the problems and mysteries that one faces to find inner peace and happiness. So, I take a step back, think, investigate, and analyze...reflecting my choices, my perceptions, challenges and obstacles that I face, my relationships and their perceptions... and then I realize...I know...it's there in front of me, it's my illusion that holds me back....I tear... Things can not be as they were and somethings will come to an end and the endings will lead to beginnings and the renewal of my "self." read more

We ventured downtown to pick up my race day stuff for Sunday. It's a great place for an expo. There were plenty of people in line but it didn't feel hot or crowded. The expo itself was pretty small. Parking around the area is ample but expensive. The convention center is in a good central area with plenty of places to check out afterward. read more

This place is HUGE!! Be prepared to jot down your parking letter and #... otherwise you may not find your way back unless you've got a killer sense of direction. Abby and I worked an event here, a Holiday Craft Fair, which was located in an enormous room with great access to restrooms and food/drinks. As long as I don't have to walk miles to get to those 3 things, I am happy! One bummer... I had to walk a while to get to an ATM. You would think I would know to bring cash to these things by now... but no. That'd be too easy now wouldn't it! Overall, a really nice, well-kept location with friendly staff! read more
