We were waiting for the rest of our party of 6, but the server worked with us. Once we ordered the food came out quickly and prepared the way we anticipated. Except, I expected soft tortillas and not crispy. Wanted to try out a New Mexican restaurant in the area because we are still looking for our go to place. Bad first impression even before we got there. Their website is down . As soon as we walked in, there was no one at the hostess table to greet us. We waited for about 5 mins before she came out of the back and didn't greet us, just asked how many and took us to a table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another red flag, was the restaurant only being at 40% capacity at 6:30 on Saturday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My father in law, likes to eat dessert for dinner and had narrowed his choice down to 2 options. Well, they made his choice easier, by being "out" of both. He ended up getting the churros and always makes sure to mention it's his dinner and would like it to come with everyone's meal. He ended up waiting 13 mins for it to come after our meals got there. One churros wasn't even cooked, it was doughy and inedible. Like a normal Mexican restaurant experience, we ate a lot of chips and salsa before ordering. Well don't get too carried away here, if you want more chips and salsa you'll have to ask for each twice. The serve will 100% forgets you asked. Also they charge for extra salsa, so be aware. We also had to ask multiple times for water refills, so don't get anything too spicy. We were coming off a beach week, and wanted to get a margarita. The price for the margarita we wanted was not displayed. I would look up the menu now, but their website is still down. On the menu, it says the Reposado for the alcohol. Again not sure of the exact wording, because I can't see the menu. But we asked the waitress how much this would be and she said $18. Well, the alcohol is $5 extra, I understand that certain alcohols are an extra charge, but we asked her soooo. Got the shrimp fajita, not only was it lacking any flavor but char. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night in a cozy booth. Chips and salsa were brought quickly. Fresh, tomatoey salsa. We both ordered the Enchiladas Nortenas: Three corn tortillas, one filled with chicken topped with spinach sauce, one filled with shredded pork topped with chipotle sauce and one filled with potato and home made chorizo topped with cheese sauce, served with a side of rice and beans. The enchiladas were absolutely delicious. We did notice they mixed up the sauces that went on each enchilada but we didn't care -- it all goes in the same place. Their menu doesn't just have the generic traditional/American Mexican restaurant fare. What inspired me to write this review was their chicken soup. Every time I get sick this is what I crave. I had never tried their soup before, but it won't be the last. Hardy portions of shredded chicken, broccoli, squash, rice, fresh, avocado, and broth. Great price for quality food. I requested no cheese in the notes section, however, cheese was still poured over my entree. Luckily, the cheese collected on one side of the dish on the bottom so I ate the other side. Everything else was accurate and it was ready upon arrival. The portions and prices were reasonable. I ordered the shrimp fried rice ($8.99) with a side of 3 flour tortillas ($1.00). It had mild flavor with large shrimp and perfectly cooked vegetables. A complimentary bag of chips and salsa were included. The service was awful. We got to the restaurant and it was absolutely dead which should have been my first sign. The guy was on the phone and walked us to a booth. When we were sat and he still didn't say anything I asked what the special was and he almost yelled at me. He told me to ask my server. On taco Tuesday they have $1 beef and chicken tacos. Don't even bother. They tasted awful. They were the worst tacos I've ever had. When we complained they did nothing. They just took my food and brought me the bill. I didn't even eat my taco.
