I had San Jose Signs contracted for an illuminated sign and my disappointment is immeasurable. Poor quality craftsmanship on the build and overall communications on the project was severely lacking as well. This shop sub contracts their installation and even they were highly inexperienced in my opinion. They did not prepare for a smooth install and generally left a lot to be desired.. Went with this shop in an attempt to stay local but now I'm knocking myself for having made the ultimately poor decision to take their company namesake too seriously. My parents' tailor shop has been in business for the past 45 years and recently moved to a new location. With regards to San Jose Signs, to put it simple, they provide top-notch customer service, workmanship, and competitive pricing. I had the pleasure of working with Mark and Ritu. Mark came back with two design options that were simply amazing and exactly what my parents were looking for. Mark explained the entire process from design to installation and (for the techie in me) the electronics used for the LED channel letter sign. Both Ritu and Mark provided detailed cost estimates for various approaches to the project (ie cabinet sign vs channel letter sign vs channel letter sign on a "runner"). My parents and myself cannot be anymore happy with the new sign. My parents continue to receive compliments from our regular and even new customers. With regards to other sign companies, in shopping around for quotes, a lot of sign companies came back with great numbers but, when I inquired further, a lot of them had "hidden" costs and fees. Secondly, some of the design drafts provided were so off target in what my parents wanted, I didn't think anyone would be able to deliver the product they were looking for. SJ signs did a great job on our door and window signage. So of course, I called them back to do our lobby signage. Unfortunately, that didn't turn out well. The colors of the letters were switched with the actual logo, so they had to send it back for production.. (Which meant we didn't get it up in time for a very important meeting). THEN, when they did get it up, the colors had weird tints because they painted over the messed up first version.. maybe they didn't prime it correctly? Either way, when I called to let them know it still wasn't correct, they said, "sorry it doesn't satisfy your marketing diretor, but there's nothing we can do about it." Great customer service! All of our custom work and signage has been taken elsewhere. read more

So disappointed in San Jose Signs. Wanted to give business to a local company, but this is not the type of company we or anyone we know would want to give money to. Their initial service was bad - hard to reach, didn't return calls on a timely basis, not very polite on the phone and then late to their appointment. Initially somewhat pleasant, then when they saw my co-worker was black they stopped speaking to us, quickly walked around acting like they took some measurements and then left. We didn't hear from them for a few days, so called to ask when they would be sending the estimate, and were then told "we won't be giving an estimate", we of course asked why they didn't want to at least provide an estimate and they said "we'd rather not discuss, we have our reasons". It's become obvious that they may be racist and will not work with people of color or groups they have some race or religion problem with. So sad to see in this day and age - maybe common in other parts of the world, but so disappointing to see a company here in the South Bay would operate this way. Please do not reward this company with your business, as unprofessional behavior like this should never be tolerated. Our community and our society deserve better. read more

I went to to their shop just to make sure I was dealing with a reputable business because sign guys come and go....needless to say, their office and shop was very pro. I received an awesome price, great service and prompt replies to all my emails and someone always answered my calls. After the sign was installed, they followed up just to make sure everything was perfect. The sign they built for me pops and draws plenty of attention. Heard some amazing things about this place. Was really excited to see what they could do for my business. Unfortunately after 3 weeks of calling, following up every few days-week, they never did any work. They kept on promising that they would sent out a technician to look at the previous sign (previous tenant) the next day. Nothing ever happened, and never got a call back after my last attempt. As a contractor I needed ADA compliant restroom signs TODAY! I called and spoke to Mark who assured me they had what I was looking for. I asked if I could send an employee with the specs to pick up the signs and make payment over the phone with a credit card, my answer was,"sure, no problem, I will be out for lunch between 11:30 to 12 noon". My employee whom is a minority went to San Jose Signs and was helped with the utmost respect. I received a call from Mark and processed the credit card payment, I also received the invoice via email as requested immediately. I Do not recommend this place - very unprofessional, when I called initially Mark seemed preoccupied and had a blah attitude. I called numerous times, emailed numerous times and I finally received a reply from Mark. Ritu came out to my business,and started measuring. When I walked out to introduce myself and say Hi, Ritu looked startled, and had a look of disdain on her face. Being a person of color (who is of mixed race by the way), have seen this look many times, however I am always shocked when that look comes from a minority. Ritu left soon after she saw me, with no word. A few hours later, I received an email from Mark indicating he did want my business. I asked why and he replied he would rather not say. This seemed very racially motivated and unprofessional. I am in a mini mall, they are a sign company and most of their business is performed at mini malls. I Do Not recommend this place - save your money on a company that is professional and values San Jose residents regardless of race, religion or creed. I am not one to "play the race card" unwarranted but what other explanation could there be for turning down a paying customer? read more

Because we were on a time crunch, we went to San Jose Signs, sat down with Mark (who was totally accommodating!) and within 15 minutes came up with the perfect banner. I got a quote to do a car wrap from these guy's. Several weeks later I found another professional company and got a price quote from them. There price was several hundred dollars cheaper. I called and spoke with the guy in the back that gives the quotes and asked him if he could match or beat the lower quote and he was rude on the phone and said that he did not quote me that price even though I had it in writing and he hung up on me. I called back to talk to him and he hung back up on me. Im not sure about the products, but the customer service I received on a couple of visit and dealing with this jerk! was not good.
