We went the day after Thanksgiving and it was usy but we were still seated right away. The service was good. When you order a large drink, you get a LARGE drink. Was not a fan of the red sauce on the enchilada or the tamale. Be sure to tell them you want ground beef tamale or you will get chicken. The food was ok, but the best I ever had. If you are in the town of Meridian, MS. Stop and give it a try. Definitely stop for a drink. read more

Really don't know where to begin, I want to leave a good review because local mom &pop need local support more today than ever. They made it really difficult to do. So will start with drinks and chips arrived quickly. Our meals did not 40 mins after we ordered it started to arrive at various times. My wife finished her meal before mine could be delivered. I guess our waiter thought she was paying. LOL so got the chimichanga and let's say it tasted as if it was air fried instead of deep fried. Very dry, maybe it was a bad night or maybe it wasn't. Fast service. Delicious food! The fajitas were excellent. Our server was fast and made sure our order was perfect. We enjoyed our dinner.

Great food and service. The chili pompano was amazing. The chicken fajitas were good however lacked a bit of spice. Could have used some hot sauce however none was in the table. Suggestion would be to ask customer if hot sauce is needed. Otherwise it was a great experience! read more

I was recently contacted by someone who either owns the place or knows the owners. So to be fair I've adjusted this review on the case that I haven't been to meridian, Ms. since I last visited this place. So maybe they corrected some items and even updated their menu... I don't know. I don't plan on going back to meridian ever, or as long as the navy doesn't send me there again. What I can attest to is that I don't plan on visiting this place if I do go back. I didn't like the food in 2017, so I doubt I will again. Again , maybe they improved. Whatever. I raised my star rating by one to make it neutral and hopefully it doesn't affect the establishment. I didn't mean to disrespect the place and it's staff, but after I reread it it did come off very negative. All I can say is that at that particular time, I did feel how I previously described it, but I could've taken more time express my thoughts. My bust. Good luck this establishment. read more

I have been eating San Marcos since before I was born. Yes, you read that correctly. When I was in my mother's womb in late 1993, she ate San Marcos 5 days a week when it was still located in College Park. Since I have been experiencing San Marcos for almost 27 years now, how can I describe it? Consistent. They have consistently produced high-quality Mexican food at a cheap price. I just finished eating there today and the chips were phenomenal - melting in my mouth as I ate them. The queso dip and salsa is always well above par. If you are new to San Marcos, I recommend starting with the Choosma. Regardless of what you order, San Marcos will always be the greatest Mexican restaurant to exist on the face of the planet. read more

Visited San Marcos because of the great reviews. I ordered the steak tacos, and a side of chorizo dip. When I got home there was chorizo sausage in one container, pico de gallo in one container, my steak tacos in another container but no dip . I called to let them know what happened and they proceeded to tell me that all I ordered was chorizo sausage not dip...which is 100% wrong. I know what I ordered. Never in my life has this happened to me. He blatantly lied over & over because they messed up the order. They would not own up to their mistake. I would never recommend this place. read more

Great place, but very busy with returning customers. We were seated promptly, a party of 5. Good selection on drinks and food. Employee brings out our meals and my friends taco is literally smothered in cheese dip... and he hates the cheese dip. The waiter said we ordered a small cheese dip to be put on that taco. A large restaurant with a bright, open design, San Marcos seems to be popular with locals and had a brief wait at noon on a Sunday. Decor and atmosphere are cool with lots to engage the eye. Chips were warm but tasted kind of stale; salsa was tastily serviceable. The house margarita is decent (and what more do you need? Long as it's not terrible, amirite?) I ordered Chusma - grilled steak or chicken served over rice with pico de gallo and topped with cheese sauce. $8.50. While tasty, nothing screamed out "flavor!" or "especial!" or even "I'm curiously engaged!" The chicken was bland with only the cheese sauce and pico providing any respite from the meh-ness of it all. But, it wasn't bad, just sayin'. It could've been more. Service was attentive and speedy; a saving grace. I'd come back, but with a handful of other Mexican eateries in town, this place will probably get shifted to the bottom of the list. The building design caught my eye because it's similar to a restaurant I eat at frequently in Collins. I stopped in on a crowded Saturday night and was surprised to get a table almost instantly with a short wait for the food. The food was good. Service was good. I had the most dry tamale I have ever eaten in my life at San Marcos yesterday. It seemed as if this tamale was weeks old, the chicken inside was so dry the texture made you whence. The chips and sals and beef enchiladas were okay, but wow coming from Texas and eating Mississippi Mexican food is a real disappointment. read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Arizona. We were seated right away and had chips and salsa within 5 minutes. The chips were warm and crispy and I love that the salsa was mild and came in a carafe so we had plenty. We ordered and our food came within 10 minutes. Hubby had taco salad with beef, very tasty and plenty in a crisp flour tortilla. I had quesadillas with chicken. The tortilla covered the plate. Lots of cheese, chicken topped with lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. All in all a very tasty meal for under $20. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The rest rooms were clean but chilly. We wanted Mexican as we were passing through Meridian so got yelp out and found this little gem. YUMMY! the food was good, chips were about average and the Salsa was not anything to write home about. The decor was nice, no draft beers. The wait staff was nice and attentive. Next time I am in the area I will visit here again. The staff was very nice, but the food was not authentic and very bland. I was fooled by the reviews. I feel bad for Meridian since the reviews say it's the best Mexican food they have. There was no option for shredded beef or carne asada. The only option was ground beef. I decided to steer away from a meal with ground beef and ordered the chile relleno. Instead, they brought me a giant slice of baked green pepper with a ton of ground beef on top of it and cheese on top of that. A chile relleno is supposed to be a poblano pepper stuffed with cheese and fried in egg batter. I ate because I was hungry, but it tasted similar to a stuffed bell pepper you get from Sam's club. It's definitely an American food restaurant and not Mexican food. read more
