Today it's a cathedral, but also existed as the center of worship for different religions. The Greeks were here prox 600 BC, the Romans were here, the Normans were here, the Arabs were here. Each regime added a facade to the architecture that created a weirdly beautiful cathedral. Siracusa used to be a Greek city state too and was the most wealthy and populous of the city states. It is beautiful here. It's cool that a Greek center is now part of Sicily and Italy. The duomo and the south are definitely worth a visit and your attention when you're in Sicily. This beautiful cathedral laced with murals, statues and incredible stone work, is one of the most beautiful cathedral's I've seen. The cathedral sits directly adjacent to one of the world's largest and most complex astronomical clocks. Both of these structures are works of art and are definitely worth seeing should you visit Messina Italy.

The caprese bread was all that. The wine was local and crisp and delicious. The steak was perfectly prepared, like fire. I had a pasta with mussels too and it was the most delicious pasta EVER. The servers were very helpful and pleasant and extremely accommodating (we had a large group of 12). Location is right next to a beautiful church with a cool bell tower that is amazing so it was super convenient and the outside decor was beautiful. I loved this place and it was my favorite food of my entire Italian tour.

If you're praying for a miracle come here…read more Our Lady of the Tears is a mega catholic church in Siracusa that is known to all Catholics as a shrine that was built after a statue of the Madonna was proved to be shedding human tears. A miracle occured after the owner of the statue went blind then miraculously could see again. The original home of the owners of the Madonna is inside for you to see and touch. We went in to pray and of course to pray for a miracle. Don't miss.
