    Island vibes
    Roy B.

We had a very nice lunch in between visits to the beach and had excellent service as well. There are so many good choices on the menu for seafood lovers and also some things to keep the kiddos happy as well. If you're a fan a ceviche, the plate will not let you down and you'll be looking for more of the flatbread that gets served with it. Lobster wraps were good but not the star of our meal. Certainly fresh and fresh tasting they might even be enough for a light-eaters meal. Tuna poke was on the spicy side but not overly so. Haley, who was our server, was very friendly and attentive. Always with a smile on her face and responsive to any request, she had our whole meal dialed in and relaxed. If you've just come in from the beach or wearing your relaxed linens, you will feel very relaxed here as the casual atmosphere will force you to u wind and get into island-time. The soft sandstone colors and the soft and comfortable couches will help you relax.

We originally had another restaurant on our radar but BOY were we happy we decided to take the short walk from the ship pier to Cravin' Crabs! They even serve Pancit (a delicious filipino noodle/spaghetti dish) I was not expecting to see that on the menu! Then when we left we realized there's a Filipino deli right next-door. So apparently it's authentic. The seafood was fresh and all the sides were unique and scrumptious! There was one side we enjoyed, we were not sure what it was, we could only decide it was the mashed potatoes, it tasted and had the texture more of some sort of dressing. Our server asked if we wanted some of the Tuscan seafood gravy on it and Yes, Yes, yes!! We did!! There was a little bit of a language barrier but we just pointed at what we wanted and it all worked out!! The food is right in front of you like cafeteria style so you can see what you are getting. My husband and I split one Tuscan Seafood plate with two sides, that was MORE than enough for the two of us for lunch. We'd definitely go back next time we are in ST. Thomas. Bravo!

We were able to find street parking right upfront, but it can get tricky. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and by a beautiful view of the houses on the hills. The view and vibe alone deserve 5 stars. The issue we had was the wait time. We waited close to an hour for our food. If we weren't so hungry and tired after a day of exploring, we would have just cancelled the order and left. We tried the shrimp appetizer and it just didn't up meeting expectations based on the menu description. My friend had the mahi sandwich while I had the mahi entree with mashed potatoes and plantains. The mahi in the sandwich was a bit dry, but my entree was pretty good. However, definitely not worth the one-hour wait or the cost. Overall not a bad experience and worth a try, but go there with lots of patience hahaha. Also, note that 20% gratuity is included regardless of group size.

We had a pretty large party with us, and they put together a table for us pretty quickly. However we were warned that the wait after our order would be longer than usual because of our size and accomodation. (Nothing a few bottles of wine couldn't fix!) The bar was stocked with basic essentials, nothing over the top but lovely enough to get everyone a cocktail or preferred beer/wine. The food menu had a good variety for everyone to have something interesting they could eat! Not everything came out perfectly, or even at the same time, but they were willing to accommodate everyone's needs and fixed a wrong order very, very quickly for us! Everyone who had ordered the mahi and salmon loved it, it felt fresh and zesty paired with onions and peppers. The shrimp dish was lovely and mild, as was the tamarind chicken. They were willing to accommodate some specific needs and made plain grilled chicken for someone who needed it. The rasta pasta had a bit of a little bit of spice to it, which was fun for an island take on pasta as a vegetarian option. They did have a vegan option with a veggie burger that came in a pita. The sides were all great, the fries and mashed potatoes were amazing, and the rice/beans were good as well. Unfortunately because we sat down close to 8, some menu items on the dessert menu were out. This lead us to the rum cake, which came out WARM and was absolutely delicious! If we stayed nearby again or needed a meal close to town, I would consider this a cute and reliable restaurant.

And then while leaving I suggested to the hostess (whom was a woman who looked about 60 years old) that people be told there are steps to the bathroom and that no one told me about the steps which led to me ultimately to trip and fall and no one helped. She then raised her voice at me saying "well maybe no one saw you!" LOL says the lady who walked past me when I fell (please I encourage the owners to look at the cameras).... We came specifically…read morefor the grouper--the dish they had been advertising for months--but were told it wasn't available. What made that even more frustrating is that we were the *first* guests in the restaurant that evening, so it's not like they sold out. It simply wasn't there. We ordered the seafood platter instead. The ceviche was overwhelmingly filled with canned pineapple--seriously? That was the main flavor- only flavor. Then came a couple of shrimp... after waiting 45 minutes. And this was cold seafood. With the grouper off the table, we tried the oxtail. One of the four pieces was *just* a bone--the size of the side of my pinky (I have photos). I bit into it thinking it was part of a plantain chip, and it hurt my teeth. A serious oversight from the kitchen. Again- covered in pineapple... why???...obsession? To top it off, nearly everything we ordered tasted the same. The corn side dish, for example, seemed to just have oxtail grease poured over it (we took it home- and sure enough solidified). No real flavor variation. For a menu that reads well, the execution was a letdown. I'm a former fine dining chef and restaurateur. To walk away hungry--after spending almost $400--is unacceptable. We live here, and as my husband said: we're not coming back. That's not good news for any place hoping to build loyalty in the local community. The drain fly issue made an already disappointing experience even worse. Please, address this properly--those were clearly drain flies, and having them land on our food and faces during Christmas dinner was honestly disgusting. Placing traps inside the ceiling lights so guests sit directly beneath hundreds of dead flies? Unacceptable. You're a Buoy restaurant--hire a proper pest control service and get this taken care of. It got to the point where my husband was wiping flies off my face every 15 seconds - nothing like giving chistmas love language and flies in your hair. We almost walked out.
