We celebrated a 13 year old's birthday here, party of 5 kids, where they experienced and enjoyed the Amber Sky 2088 virtual game! We arrived 10 minutes early (per recommendation in the confirmation email) and checked-in via email. You can also check-in at the kiosks inside near the front, then sign waivers through the QR code. At their reservation time, the kids followed their host Sahil on over and were seated in front of their VR room (which was one of 4 rooms there). Sahil went over instructions of the game, demonstrations on how to apply the sensors on their wrists and ankles. Once inside the room, there were two people who assisted the kids with putting on their vests, head phones, VR googles, and weapons, and continued with providing instructions of the VR game and safety rules. (Note: there was an additional charge of $6.99/each to upgrade 2 weapons.) The adults were allowed to sit inside the room, on benches up against one of the walls. The room was big, clean, and well ventilated. The kids had a blast! After their game, the kids were directed outside to an area where they sat down, viewed their scores and a highlight video of their game! The links to the video were sent to the reserver's email to view as well! Let the staff know if you are celebrating a birthday for a bonus virtual birthday fun at the end of their VR game. We went to Sandbox VR in Woodland Hills tonight at 9:10 PM to use a $330 credit we were given from a previous visit because that experience was terrible, everything was broken and glitching. They acknowledged how bad it was at the time and issued us a credit. When we arrived tonight, we were told our credit had expired. That made no sense considering it was issued because of system failures on their end. After asking the employee to contact a manager, they said they would "honor" only half of the credit $165. I don't understand why only half, when the original experience was completely ruined due to their equipment not working. We paid the remaining balance and proceeded with our three booked games. From the moment we were assigned our VR host (Austin), it was clear he was frustrated and bothered. The first game wouldn't load properly and took a long time to get running. There were constant glitches, delays, and technical problems just like our last visit. Instead of being supportive or apologetic, the host kept making negative comments, complaining, and even using profanity under his breath. It made the whole experience uncomfortable. We weren't rude. We followed instructions. At one point I even told him, "We're not here to annoy you, we just want to have fun." He didn't respond. By 10:45 PM, over an hour and a half after arrival, we had only managed to complete ONE experience because of all the technical issues. When we asked about a refund for the two games we couldn't properly play, we were told they don't give refunds. The only option was to reschedule. There was no real apology for the inconvenience, no accountability for the repeated technical failures, and no effort to make the situation right beyond rescheduling. We were even told that the previous staff member "shouldn't have accepted" us for three games and that the host just wanted to go home. At this point, it feels like customers are inconveniencing the staff, not the other way around. We gave this place a second chance after a very bad first experience. Unfortunately, it was even more disappointing the second time. If you're thinking about spending your money here, I would strongly suggest thinking twice. read more

This is like my fourth time coming here and I did Stranger Things! You basically pointed to one of the objects you pick it up and then you throw it at one of the demo Gorgons and the crazy flying back. It was a lot of fun and my arm is gonna be sore tomorrow I'm sure lol the only thing I wish is that they gave us the gun. Well than that any VR Netflix series you choose you're going to have a lot of fun. There's only six players max per game and yeah, I came here for my brother's birthday and we were Vibing. They let us have a party here so we had a food table for drink, snack, snacks, and party papers. The hill and Nikol were some of the amazing employees I ever came across. I took my nephew here today to do the Squid Game VR experience since he got straight A's to finish his semester. I been to this Sandbox location before for a Yelp event and did the zombie VR experience which was great. The Squid game is just a friendly challenge between the people in the room with you. Yiyzhak was the person helping us and he was amazing. You don't sweat as much as the zombie game but it's still interactive. The Google and vest that you wear did seem to have sweat smell so I don't think they cleaned them properly or fully. We had a great time here though, the squid game had 5 rounds and those were fun. This was the ultimate perfect place to throw my nephew's 12th birthday party. Since each room has a capacity of 6 people. He got 2 rooms and invited 12 of his friends to come and celebrate the big bash. So my sister decided to get 2 rooms with double sessions for each room so that they could have a 2 time experience with 2 different experiences. I told them they MUST do Amber in the Sky for one of them, which they did. The other they chose Squid Game. My sister got a packaged deal for the 2 rooms with 2 experiences which gave her a discount for the entire experience. Plus, for this party pack each room was gifted a giant basket full of anime items, cookies, and treats. My nephew was so ecstatic about the entire experience and how it was so memorable, cool, and slick not to forget how futuristic the experience was for him and the boys. In addition, my sister accidentally left the bag of gifts he got on the floor of the bathroom yesterday. The phenomenal staff had found and had it for safe keeping with them until she returned today to pick it up. She was so grateful beyond the moon for their honest and helpful deed. Ultra Surreal Experience!! This experience is far beyond the regular VR set you can buy for your home! Check out their website for multiple scenarios you can play in. The SQUID GAME is very fun for a team of 6. Its offers a variety of challenging games very similar to the show. I highly recommend choosing DEADWOOD VALLEY to kill a lot of zombies, including zombie dogs that rush into your face. They come from everywhere--up, down, and all around! I accidentally booked the wrong day and all I did was call them and they were able to change to the day I needed. My boyfriend and I came here for date night. It was so much fun. We did the squid game. It was just the two of us. So we felt like VIPs. I think this would be very fun with a group. I would definitely come back. Overall I would've rated 4 stars because the technology seemed out dated. Apple vision is 5 times better quality than this video quality. But the ability to walk around and the group element would've pushed it to 4 stars. The reason we had a bad experience was the preparation with the staff. They were very nice but the whole time my father and I could not hear each other in the game. And that is a key part in the zombie game. And then the focus adjuster on the VR mask was not mentioned to us. Most of the game we were seeing the video somewhat blurry. Then on my own I felt around the mask and adjusted it and the clarity was so much clearer. When I stated the hearing problem to the staff after the game was over they said we should've said something to them. To call out a specific word and they would've come in to help. But how could we if you never inform us that's possible. It's unfortunate our first experience was so flawed. And I had hyped it up to my father before we got there. Just unfortunate. read more

Sandbox VR is very fun! The games are very immersive, and the haptic feedback is engaging. I was unsure of the concept of paying so much for a video game experience, especially with my own pair of VR headsets at home, but it is definitely worth the money. The best part of Sandbox VR is they provide an experience that would be financially impossible to achieve at home. Zero latency, group immersion, haptic feedback, and tactile controllers. At about $60 a pop per person, I won't be able to come here as much as I like, but I will enjoy it every time I do! The only disappointing aspects of the business are: 1) Pay-to-Use Weapons: The experience is already a bit pricey, so an additional charge to use special weapons is a tad scummy 2) Lack of Weapon Choices: There are not many weapons controllers to choose from, so in a full room of 6 there are some players who will not get an enjoyable weapon and/or their preferred weapon. One lady I shared a room with got stuck with the crossbow and she was not too enthused. At the price they charge, you should not be forced to use your second or third choice. 3) Weak Video Package: While the video package is a nice touch, they seem very cheap and cookie-cutter. Nothing funny or notable happened in our videos, despite there being many great moments during our experience. 4) Bored Staff: The staff don't seem happy at all, which sets an odd tone at the beginning of the experience. read more

Been here three times now! First time was in 2019 and then last year, twice! We went twice with our company for our company party and had two rooms each time. Such a fun experience and I've heard this one tops all the other VR spots. The first year we did Dead Wood Mansion and boy what an experience that is. The workers walk you through it at the beginning and help you gear up so it's nothing to freak out or worry about if it's your first time. A room holds up to 6 players. The thing about the mansion is that there are RATS and they are FAST. You can only keep up so much with your guns so good luck. You'll most likely feel them crawling on you which was TERRIFYING but also an interesting experience!! This time around we did the new Dead Wood Valley and I found this one a lot more exciting!! You're more just in one area but moving about, getting on a truck to take you to another location. It's much more fun and I think way more worth your money. No rats in this one but it is just as challenging! Surprisingly got MVP for my second time after not being here for years so that was neat! I'm not an FPS gamer at all but had a blast. Definitely take the time to visit with your friends, family, or even significant other! You'll enjoy it no matter what. Also FYI, I get motion sickness really easily so I take Dramamine beforehand and I'm perfectly fine! The cool thing is that they show you a little video of your team outside the rooms on the tv screens! First is the trailer and then the dance party or whatever. They also show your scores which is exciting. The workers will also provide a QR for you to scan and save the videos or have it emailed to yourself. Great spot and staff are fun/friendly. So much fun! I came with my bf and we were grouped with these other 4 and everything went smoothly. When we came in around 6:30pm on a Saturday it wasn't too crowded but once we were setting up with the other group, people were coming in but the staff was good at keeping things flowing and organized. Each staff member was helpful with instructions and there for you if you had trouble putting on anything Including the VR. You do have to make a reservation. Third time we have come and every time the employees have been late, have little to no knowledge of the games and today in particular had us waiting in the room and didn't check on us we had to take our own equipment off when we finished the mission. The headphones were really loose and some of the weapons had delays that they don't normally have. This is a family event we love to do and they didn't even ask if we want easy, medium or hard. The lack of customer service is really ruining this experience. read more

After seeing that the VR experience for Squid Games was available, I just couldn't wait to get my villain on! What aided me in my game was a general annoyance of my husband pre game. Pro tip: Be annoyed at your significant other/friend/family member/etc to help aid you in competitive strength against your opponent aka the aforementioned relationships. We played squid games including red light, green light, Simon says, the falling bridge game, and a couple others. It was fun, engaging, and you will definitely be active. A couple friends and I happened to stumble into this location while walking over to have dinner at Topanga Village. After dinner we went right back to play a game. Overall a pleasant experience, Sahil was the employee helping us out with everything we needed to do to play the game. He also thoroughly explained what we can expect throughout our experience. Just a heads up, the prep can take just as long as the game itself. It starts with filling out some paperwork on the tablet, then throwing on the hands/feet sensors. Then you go inside the room and have the vest and headgear put on, due to their delicate nature, the employees gear you up. The game we played was a zombie game and lasted roughly 25 minutes. You're basically going through the storyline, you won't have a situation where you die mid-game and the game ends. We had a good time. In the VR room, we had a seat with storage in it so we could place our belongings in it safely. The price wasn't exactly cheap but it wasn't crazy either, it was $57/person. There was an add-on weapon we had the option to pay for, we did not, but it sounded like the overpowered item that would make things less fun. After the game is over they provide you with 3 video clips, they include the players in their gear and the in-game video as well. That was a really nice touch and we got a kick out of it. The parking is the same parking of Topanga Village, the structure we parked at was right next to Sandbox VR which is how we ran into it in the first place. Me and my friend had a free weekend so we went to Sandbox VR. At sandbox VR, you had to put trackers on your hands and feet. There was also a body suit, and the room felt as if it was moving in the game. There are tons of games to choose from, like 2088, Star Trek, and more. We did the game "The Curse Of Davy Jones", where you were on a pirate ship fighting pirates in different scenarios. There were also swords and pistols for you to have, and of course, your teammates are animated in the game. Sandbox VR was really fun. Overall, Sandbox VR is the best place of its kind! read more

This place offers a very fun and memorable experience for many of us who don't have the space and money to invest in a similar VR setup. We did Deadwood Mansion and here are some thoughts. The demo videos really don't do the experience justice. The hardware is good: - video is clear. The refresh rate isn't low enough to be a distraction and the world really responds instantly when you look around no matter hard you pivot your head. - audio communication is okay and everyone can communicate fine - the weapon variety is interesting but it would be nice if all users could pick any weapon they wanted. I wish the reloaded faster so I didn't miss a bunch of crucial hits when things got intense - you get fun stats afterwards but I'd love to also know who revived and died the most. - the video clips that are shared in the end are great: it's a perfect marketing tool and also keepsake for everyone who played. - there's great feedback like rumbling to enhance the realism and help you be aware of your surroundings It was quite a workout to carry the VR and be part of a zombie survival experience. My shirt was absolutely damp from sweat a the end of the story. It's obviously a game for adults but little ones might find some of the imagery a little too scary. It will definitely be interesting to see how the tech continues to evolve and become more realistic and hopefully more affordable. read more

I hate to give this place only 3 stars because the staff is so friendly and helpful, and the games are pretty fun. However, their equipment seems to be wearing down, and there seem to be no efforts to replace or repair it. We are longtime repeat players, and the last few times we've gone, we've run into more and more issues. Yesterday was the last time we went, and it was especially egregious. The game kept lagging badly; our guns would stop firing, the enemies would freeze in midair, and nothing would happen for like 10 seconds. Then all of the sudden we'd be covered in enemies and all of us would be dead. This could be forgivable once or twice, but it happened every 1-2 MINUTES, the entire time. We kept having to raise our hands for assistance, and they tried their best to help troubleshoot. Finally, they rebooted the server, and that seemed to fix the issue. Unfortunately, there was only about 1/3 of the game left at this point, so we had already played 2/3 of the game with extremely bad lag and constant interruptions (to ask for help). Additionally, the audio in my headset kept cutting out so I missed most of the dialogue, and about half of the game sfx, which didn't make for the most immersive experience. My friends at least didn't have missing audio, but they had a pretty bad echo for the whole game. I think the guns are also supposed to have haptic feedback, but mine didn't. For $60/person, I don't find it to be worth it, if they're going to continue having so many issues. I feel at the least they should refund you some money for a sub-par experience, but instead they offered us some credit for next time. I know that's better than nothing, but it feels a little shady to me. They only give you about enough credit for one admission, and they impose a 3-month expiration on it, so you're forced to come back and pay them again. Ultimately, I'm giving 3 stars because every staff member I've ever talked to has always been very kind and as helpful as possible, and I know the equipment issues and credit policy isn't their fault. But with the rising prices and the declining quality, I don't know if I'll be returning. read more
