Luckily I brought a print out of my receipt and they had to re-enter all my information. I was told that they require the rental to be returned on Friday and they could come by and pick them up from our condo but it had to be before 5 when they required them returned. Made the last day there a little short when we had to shut down by 4pm. They brought out the chairs and umbrella to put in my vehicle and they were covered in sand. They were all in fairly good condition considering it was the end of the season. So day one I end up with a load of sand in the car. I called Friday morning to arrange the pickup and was told I would have to bring them back. Though not a big deal, it cut our last day shorter and not what they said they would do. When I did take them back right at 4 pm I discovered why. They were holding a sale of all their chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, etc from that season. There was no where to even pull in and drop them off. All the employees were running around selling crap and it took five minutes to get someone to even talk to me. He told me to drive around back and drop them off at the storage building. Once I finally was able to maneuver to the back, there was no one there to help me. I was now stuck back there as other cars had pulled back there. I walked back to the front and again had to wait to talk to someone. This guy told me to grab my stuff and just stack it up front. I said I needed to make sure I got credit for returning everything, he asked for my name and said he would make sure it was marked off. He asked my name and said he's got it. I went back, carried it all to the front without any help and dumped it by the front steps. I found the guy and as we were standing out front in the chaos I asked him if he has me covered, he said yes and when I asked him my name he had no idea. Went in the store and there were lines at all the registers 3-4 deep all purchasing the end of season crap. When I finally got to a register, I told the woman that my stuff was sitting on the ground out front and I needed a receipt that I returned it all. She typed around in the computer and of course couldn't find me again. She finally found my rental from my phone number and said I was good to go. I told her I needed a printed receipt and she asked why. Ridiculous customer service! All they cared about that day was making a buck. Will never use them again.

We are so happy our home owner booked a tent with chairs for our week long stay. Both Mac and Chuck were very accommodating to us to ensure we had enough space to put out our additional shade devices for 16 of us. They text you in the morning with the location of your tent, tents are up very early and come done well after we leave the beach for dinner. Their chairs are comfortable and tents are very sturdy to withstand the OBX winds. We'll be back next year and hope to use their tents and chairs again.

If you are in the Virginia Beach area then you probably have seen multiple substation store every couple of block down the boardwalk. This store offers many thing such as cup, hermit crab, bags, stuff animal, candy and more. It can be a little pricy and they don't have a parking lot so either you have to park by a meter area. Sunsation used to offer coupons in the coupon book but this year in 2022 they have no coupon to offer.

The campsites are clean and well-kept and are located right next to the beach. As a previous person noted, you must be affiliated with the DoD for access to the Dam Neck Annex - the Navy base the campground is located on. I have two critiques that prevent me from a five-star review. The first is that the campsites are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. We made our reservations in January for our August trip based on recommendations from friends and knowing the campground would fill up quickly. When we arrived on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, after driving seven hours to get there, the only spots remaining were the two "shared" sites. Each was already half occupied by someone we didn't know. The space between the sites is no more than what you'd get in a parking lot (you share the same concrete pad). A reservation system that allowed you to reserve specific sites would fix this. The second critique is that there seems to be a lot of long-term campers. Not seasonal, but long term. These people have their RVs or travel trailers essentially parked in prime spots and they weren't there, at least during our visit. I get it it. If they pay, they get to stay. Perhaps, though, the number of those campers should be limited to allow families on vacation more opportunities to take advantage of the campground. Overall, though, it's a good campground. We may be back in the future. Knowing what I know now, though, we'll use a different strategy when we arrive.

Most of the stores are dog friendly, which was great because we had our dog with us in almost every store. Staff was friendly. There are no returns allowed on purchases. If your looking for souvenirs, clothing, or children's toys, this is the place to stop by, they had plenty of everything!
