Back in the summer of 2015, I was having some female issues, so I made an appointment with a new…read moredoctor ( who I grew to love) she was concerned what was going on an ordered an ultrasound. When the results came back it showed that I had a few cysts on both of my ovaries. Well, the doctor decided to monitor me every 6 months for the next year and a half. Well, the end of Jan. 2017 I had a follow up appointment with my doctor and she was very concerned about the cyst on my right ovary. My doctor ordered surgery and blood work to make sure it wasn't cancerous. I was so scared, anxious and vulnerable at this point. Surgery happened and my doctor had to remove my right ovary and the cyst. She biopsied the cyst and everything came back normal. I was relieved because I thought I was on the mend to being healthy again. I went back for a check up again in July of 2017 and they did see that I had a couple more cyst on left ovary. All the emotions came back. I knew at this point I only have one ovary left and my dream of becoming a mom was becoming very slim. My doctor decided to do another ultrasound again in Sept. to check the size of the cyst. Well when the results came back, she knew that surgery needed to happen again to drain this cyst. I was so scared that they would remove my only ovary. My doctor was able to just drain the cyst. I went back in Jan. 2018 for another ultrasound with a new doctor. My old doctor had left at this point. They found 5 more small cyst on my left ovary and the only option at this point the new doctor gave me was surgery again. Well, I knew that there had to other options out there. So with the advice from some friends, I reached out to Wellness Concepts Clinic, LLCand scheduled an appointment with Laney. They ordered some blood test to get to the root of what was going on and we found out that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). We started a treatment plan and I have been going since January and now my hormones and cycle are normal now. Fast forward to today.. I had my annual appointment with a new doctor in a new network and I have 4 cysts now and they have all shrunk a lot. My new doctor was very encouraging and told me to keep on the path that I am on and to come back in a year for another checkup. So to sum this up.. We are the ones who know our bodies the best, so if the doctors give you information that you do not feel comfortable with, know you have options. Please get second, third or even check out the natural approach. We only have one body and we have to take care of it.
