Okay store to shop for deli meat and prepackaged "cold", Hot meals from past 2-3 days. Reasonably priced. To shop for groceries weekly costs around 150.00-200.00 includes using stamp books. Which is too much for us. When you can only afford 250.00 per month for groceries. This is a nice little store, much too expensive for the average shopper in our little town. read more

They treat their employees like absolute trash. They pay below 9 dollars an hour. HALF of the food i buy from them is moldy. I have to be THOROUGH to make sure what I am buying isn't spoiled or expired or moldy. AVOID THE CHEESE CURDS 80 percent of the time I buy them they are moldy. read more

I visited here while "in town" on a recent trip. It's a typical small-town grocery store that will meet (or exceed) your needs. No, it's not a Walmart Superstore or a Giant Eagle... but it has all the basics and lots of charm! The clerks here were super friendly, and I was able to purchase the items that I wanted here. Put one star due to the fact that you have to put at least one star for rating. If I was able to put zero stars, I would. Prices seem high for everything in the store! Including their essential everyday brands, which should be cheaper than 20 or 30 cents than the brand names. Customer service is AWFUL!! My friend tried cashing their check there, was able to the week prior, and they told my friend that they "didn't have enough money, come back in a couple hours." When they went back 4 hours later, the same person, behind the customer service desk, said that they were told by their manager that they cannot cash my friends check. When my friend called later on, towards the end of hours opened, the person who answered the phone told my friend that they will not cash their check personally. This is the only grocery store in North East, so I normally spend at least $200 a week in groceries there! After this horrible customer service towards my friend, I will never buy anything from this store again!! I hope your sh*tty customer service was worth losing at least $800 a month! read more

Here's the story, of an ugly grocery. Let us begin to the right of the front door as we are wont to do because based on the physical layout you have literally no other option. Produce. What doesn't come prepackaged from the distributor is packaged locally. Yes, they take brussels sprouts and tomatoes and strap them down to styrofoam (styrene is a neurotoxin) tray with clear plastic wrap and slap a sticker on them. Usually with the bad side down - or does it just turn bad because you're suffocating it? Either way you won't find out til you get home and find little worms crawling out of your brussels sprouts. Then the deli straight ahead and to the rear. It's fairly clean although I did observe a no-lid employee beverage above a food prep surface. The ham salad appears to be made with scraps from last week because I purchased a pound on a tuesday and it was bloating the container by thrusday. Not cute. Their house made sausages are heavy and greasy. Their clearance section on the round out of the permiter is all expired stuff. I didn't know you were allowed to sell expired stuff at all - i thought it had to be pulled. There's a good amount of that aforementioned produce over there not refrigerated just kind of oozing about. Positives about this store: ample parking (no credit to sanders, the building came with it) Essential Everyday brand products (hallmark of so cal grocery store this mini chain has bought from), and the bakery seems to know what's up. It's not Aldi's or PriceRite, but it also doesn't try to be. It's a small town grocery store that has great bakery, produce, and meat departments...I will not buy chicken or hamburger anywhere else! Cashiers are super friendly, and I like that the store never looks dirty or gross. read more

This afternoon 6/20/15 asked deli dept in North East to slice some pepperoni in 1/4 inch thick slices instead of the normal 1/16 inch that is sliced and pre-packaged for sale (in house). She said that that's the way it comes take it or leave it. The other employee behind the counter started laughing, then they both had a good laugh. What person want to be belittled trying to buy groceries? Who is actually of service to the consumers in this store? Who wants 1/16 inch slices of pepperoni? THE ANSWER IS NOBODY. read more

Unbelievable. Six days ago, 10/12/2019, with some other groceries I purchased 2 Hillandale Brick cheese. They were placed in my refrigerator in the deli tray. A few days later I opened one of the brick and there was obvious grey mold on it. The "good by date was Dec '19". Today I took the cheese back to the store to exchange or be reimbursed. The manager in charge was hostile from the moment I approached his window. He said the cheese was warm and probably became moldy since purchase. The cheese was room temp because the car was warm but had just come out of my refrigerator. With much ado he finally sent me to get another one. Definitely not good PR. Unfortunately there is no other sizeable grocery store in NE and this store serves Ripley, NY and Findley Lake NY. Could use a sizeable amount of training in respect and customer service. The item was $2.00. Hardly worth the loss of a customer. PBM read more
