We stayed in nearby Oldshoremore for a few days. We knew the area from another vacation when we've spent some time here as well. But last time we didn't come to check out this trail.
We parked at the Blairmore carpark and the trail starts just across the road. You could walk the trail all up to Sandwood Bay. We've had our Bulldog with (and the pet stroller in case she got tired), so we didn't make it all up to the bay, but we've made about half of it, which made a good little walk. A little more than half of it is possible to do with a stroller, it does get bumpy along the way though.
The walk is an amazingly beautiful one. The scenery is just what you would expect of the Northern Highlands. Wonderful views, Lochs along the trail - even with a little beach at one Loch you'll pass. Some creeks as well. It's just picture-perfect. And it is a fairly easy walk, mostly flat. But some good shoes are recommended, especially when it's a bit wet and muddy. We've met only about a handful of other walkers that cloudy summer day. It was so nice to enjoy the scenery, the peace and the quiet up here. That's why we keep coming back to the very North.
If you're in the area, make sure to check out this trail. It was one of our highlights on this years Road Trip through the UK. And surely we'll be back again. read more
