Pistachio power

This is a health-conscious place to dine at, with food and drink that caters to everyone from those with dietary restrictions to those without. I came with two of my friends around 6:20pm just before their closing time of 7pm and before grabbing an actual dinner around the area. Inside feels really clean and you can smell certain fruits when you walk in. There's more than enough seating for larger groups, and it was completely empty when we got there. Only one of my friends got a drink here, and waited about 10 minutes or so to get his pistachio powder drink after hearing they were out of cacao to make their cacao cloud, which was his first choice. I managed to get a couple sips of the drink myself, and I gotta say it tasted heavily of both avocado and banana, both of which were ingredients. It was also bitter to the point where I couldn't tell which of the two was overpowering the other, like there was a heavy banana aroma masked by what I could only describe as a metal-like aftertaste from the avocado, perhaps? In general, it wasn't my favorite drink despite it having a ton of healthy ingredients and being protein-heavy, which I would otherwise need for my muscles after a workout. Maybe I need to try their other drinks or even their food sometime, because the price tag and taste of the pistachio powder didn't do well for me.

The menu at Sano Kirkland is all about healthy and fresh options, from salads to acai bowls, pressed juices, and smoothies. It is good to see that they are really focused on wellness. I was deciding between the Ginger Sesame and Harvest salads but went with the Ginger Sesame and added marinated tofu. It turned out to be a great choice. Tofu from Sano is not a typica tofu you have seen. It is the "marinated" tofu which I've never tried before but it is definitely a game changer. The marinated tofu paired perfectly with the dressing. I cannot quite describe the flavor, but it was unique and a bit addictive. The portion size was generous, and I felt completely full after finishing it. For someone with a smaller appetite, one salad could easily be two meals. I also tried the Golden Roots pressed juice with pineapple, carrot, golden beet, Fuji apple, lemon, and ginger. It was refreshing and naturally sweet from the fruits. I could taste the freshness in every sip. Parking is mostly street parking, and while there are plenty of spots, it can get a bit tricky during peak hours. I will definitely be back soon to try the Harvest Salad and one of their smoothies. This is such a great addition to the Kirkland downtown area.

Loved this spot! I headed over after a workout class and was so impressed. I am gluten free and vegetarian and found I could eat just about everything on the menu, which was amazing. I ended up getting the cesar salad with tofu, and my friend got the harvest salad with tofu. The toppings and portion sizes were generous! We also both tried the "pearadise" juices which were great. The servers were awesome! For being so new, they seemed to know the menu really well and our food came out quickly. It looks similar to the previous restaurant that was there. Pretty simple, clean. We sat outside and enjoyed the people-watching, but on a rainy or cold day I would have opted to take my food to-go. Will definitely be back for more juices and to try one of the toasts!

I came here and tried both a juice and an açaí bowl. The juice was very refreshing and tasted fresh, but since it was the last day before expiration I could not help but wonder if the nutritional benefits were still fully preserved. The açaí bowl was enjoyable but it felt a little underwhelming in terms of toppings. A bit more variety and quantity would have elevated it from being just good to being something I would crave and come back for often. The staff was great, very helpful and efficient, and they made the whole experience pleasant. The space itself is clean and nicely designed, with a welcoming atmosphere. I especially appreciated that there is also an outdoor seating area, which makes it a really nice option when the weather is good. Also fruit were still frozen. Overall this place has a lot of potential. With a bit more generosity on the bowls and some assurance about the freshness of the juices, it could easily become a go-to spot for healthy options in Kirkland.

I was really sad about Homegrown but felt a bit better when Sano opened up in its place. Beautifully arranged açaí bowls, avocado toast, and salads!

Harvest salad

My husband and I happened to walk by this place and decided to stop in since the menu looked interesting. I ordered the Harvest Salad, and he got the salmon bagel. His dish looked great and he enjoyed it. As for my salad, it had an interesting concept--especially the combination of sweet potato and fruit, which was quite tasty. Unfortunately, a large portion of the greens were wilted, and I had to pick through them, which was disappointing. Overall, it was edible, but not something I'd order again. I think the quality could definitely be improved.

This review is for their drink only. I ordered the Banana Matcha Cloud (iced only) and their matcha is surprisingly so good! The drink is not too sweet and topped with real banana mixture. An unexpected place for a great matcha drink.

Great little spot for a healthy, quick breakfast or lunch! The dining room is bright and clean and lively. People are friendly and helpful. My God harvest salad was delicious and felt so healthy! They also have kombucha pressed juices and coffee and espresso.

We had the salad, with ginger sesame dressing. Greens were fresh, sliced almonds were crunchy. Dressing was perfect. It came on a tidy compostable container. We also had the avocado toast. Nicely toasted slice of bread topped with creamy avocado. I added the chicken, nicely cubed chicken breast that was moist and had good marinade. It was served on one piece of toast. I've had it in other places where I would get 2 pieces of toast that had arugula and cherry tomatoes. Food is served in compostable containers even if you dine in. We drank 2 bottled juices, quite refreshing, but $9 each small bottle is a bit pricey. Some diners ordered the açaí bowl and they look good and seemed like a big serving. There's an order counter, where it's simple enough to place an order. The food came out quick enough. The space has soaring ceilings. The tables are spaced comfortably. There's a large patio outside with a lot of tables. The interior is painted plain white that exudes a clean, healthy vibe which compliments the menu and its mission. This is definitely not a cheap place. I'm thinking that anything nutritious and good for you involves a steep price. That is why I don't think this is a restaurant I would go regularly to. It's good, but I want more for my money.

Just had an amazing brunch at Sano in Kirkland Everything's organic and grass-fed, served in compostable green containers. The avocado toast, egg toast, and chia pudding were all delicious--and the Mexican vanilla bean latte + matcha latte ...Incredible. Fast, friendly service too. Highly recommend!

Finally a well conceived healthy grab and go option in Kirkland. Nice minimalist clean line/modern design in the previous Homegrown space. The food is fresh, organic, and delicious. Suggestion for owners- Hours: please consider expanding hours to 6 pm for dinner to go access. Potential to maximize ROI and give customers an after work healthy take out option. Breakfast: Deru consistently has 1 hr waits for weekend breakfast just blocks away. Same customer demographic. A breakfast bowl or menu would likely do well.

Current menu

Sano is such a lovely little cafe (: It's very cozy, chill vibes, and in a really convenient location. They have a limited menu at the time of writing this but everything we've had so far has been delicious! The Mexican Vanilla Bean latte is the best I've had anywhere. Also, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. You should definitely check this place out!

Decent fresh ingredients but shockingly skimpy. Nowhere near worth the price. Definitely won't be back

My husband and I came on a Saturday afternoon, after finishing working out together in the morning…read morewhere it wasn't really busy. I got a 32 oz "Slim N Fit" with mango flavor and my husband got a 32 oz "Lean Out" with chocolate flavor. My Slim N Fit tasted good while my husband said his had a little too much peanut butter. Overall customer service was good, little wait time... we had to park at the plaza nearby and didn't have to pay parking. A good spot for an after workout smoothie. Would come back again.

My friend and I walked over to Emerald City Smoothie in Downtown Bellevue after doing barre class…read morenearby. This was my first time at Emerald City Smoothie in ten years and my first time at the Downtown Bellevue location. The interior is fairly small with only a few tables to sit/stand at and so it's mostly a takeout place rather than a place to meet with friends. Emerald City Smoothie has a wide menu and categorize their menu into five categories based on health goals: "Boost My Immune System", "Help Me Lose Weight", "Go Green", "Bulk Me Up" and "Nourish My Body". They also have a menu just for "Boosters" which cost extra and include everything from antioxidants to bees pollen to creatine and fat burner. Lastly, they have a Secret Menu which includes Banana Creme Pie, Matcha Green Tea, Maui Paradise, Mountain Berry Blast, Orange Creamsicle, Piña Colada, and Peanut Butter Cup. I'm pretty sure their secret menu is just drinks that don't fit into the other categories (or ran out of room for), because they had these same drinks on their menu ten years ago. I ordered the MATCHA GREEN TEA (16-oz) off the secret menu. This smoothie has soy milk, matcha, non-fat milk, and whey. For $7.44 (including tax), this was pretty pricey for a "healthified" matcha Frappucinno. They obviously don't use high quality matcha as the matcha color was on the yellow side and the taste was quite diluted and bland. It mostly just tasted like sugary blended milk with little to no matcha flavor; I was honestly disappointed, but drank it anyway. My friend got her favorite NUTTY BANANA (sub vegan protein) which has banana, peanut butter, protein, and nonfat milk, which is probably what I should've gotten instead. She also ordered a PB&J and MANGO MANIA for her family members which are also supposed to be decent. Lesson learned, stick with the fruit smoothies. Service was good- the baristas are friendly and efficient and we got our drinks within 10 minutes after ordering. Overall: 2/5 for drinks, 4/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere
