So this review is based on the pastry and chocolate almond meringue alone!…read more Almond meringues must be a Girona thing or a Catalan thing because their everywhere! Most places have the almonds crushed up and mixed into the meringues . There are tons of bakeries all over Girona offering yummy treats... But this was the only place I've seen so far (in my two days) where the huge meringues are dipped in chocolate and have a layer of whole almonds inside the meringue ! DELICIOUS! Literal I could eat nothing but these till we leave! They are so amazing ! The dark chocolate they are dipped in is fantastic too! My husband got the Xuxo pastry (pronounced :shoeshow) another local traditional pastry: a flaky pastry filled with a cinnamon custard! Once again you can find these around but he really liked the ones here too!!! Yummy I m ready to go back again ... But I'll wait till tomorrow

The small town of Bagà is adorable, but there aren't too many shops open in the early morning hours. This was the only pastry shop that was open, and we all got in line to grab some morning grub. They have a nice selection of baked goods here. Lots of croissants, danishes, and loaf breads to choose from. I ended up getting a custard cheese Danish and a plain croissant that I saved for later. Both were extremely fresh. The croissant was literally melting my mouth; so good! The women who were working in the shop were so sweet. The didn't speak much English, but they still were able to assist everyone in our group. I love being able to support local shops like this. Definitely worth a stop if your travels take you to the small town of Bagà while in Spain.
