We checked availability and season opening before booking...we're looking forward to a pizza on arrival. When we got there, 2 staffers were at the office area and informed us we couldn't get a pizza and he store was closed due to 'winter' hours. The web site and the handouts both said winter hours were Nov 1 to March 31st. We stayed Nay 1st! If we would have known that, we would have stayed elsewhere and probably for less $. Next time I won't trust what I read...but call ahead. I've been a loyal KOA member for quite a few years...this really dissapounted me. The KoA has all the non-negotiables, a stocked store, cleaned thematic laundry, K9 dog run, and clean bathhouses. The laundry had a great gallery of Route 66 images, the K9 fence was actually tall enough for our big pup, and the staff were friendly as you always hope. The game room was a nice bonus, but DVD lending libraries at the store and game room help if you need quieter camping back in your rig. We loved the free pinball! The social area outside the store was nice and shady, and the playground was adorable. We got to see a bluebird, and the park had some bird watching pics up front. BYO grown up drinks (and as always, don't act like a rookie), or enjoy the cold ones available at the store. Cute local souvenirs and camping supplies were plentiful, and that pizza oven kept going during our stay. It looks like they're busy adding more pull through sites, so we might get lucky enough for a longer stay next time. No pool, but you'll be busy with Santa Fe anyway. Las Vegas highway was a perfect connector to both the city and Pecos National Historic Park. Happy kid, happy pup, and happy us here at this KoA. read more

I have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our spot was G7 which is probably the highest traffic spot on the whole lot, but it honestly wasn't an issue for us. As my husband gets older I find him engaging in old man small talk more and more, so I think he kind of liked being in a spot to give him an excuse to chat with other menfolk about our travels and Vanny DeVito (our class B). G7 is the spot closest to the bathrooms and store, probably a drawback for a lot of people.. but when you have a three year old and 11 month old, easy bathroom/shower accessibility is a perk. It was also just a quick walk over to the playground, which was all wooden and perfectly maintained. I saw in some of the other reviews that some people thought the spots were too close together with no privacy, that wasn't an issue for us. Our spot was roomy (of course a class B takes up minimal space) and no less private, probably more actually, than other KOAs we've stayed at. We didn't bring our dog with us, but if we had there are a few spots with a private fenced dog area included in the campsite! So now I wanna come back with the whole bunch just to snag one of those. There is also the main public dog park (camp K9) which is pretty nice if you have a more sociable dog than my grumpy old lady. If your kids are a little older, the game room is a nice hangout spot with some tables and arcade style games. There's also an outdoor recreation area with a seating area, corn hole, horse shoes, and a putting green. If you don't have a rig or prefer glamping to camping, there are several basic cabins and two luxury cabins to choose from as well. Some of the 1 star reviews also mentioned a sewage smell. That wasn't an issue for us at all. Other than the occasional outdoor cooking smells and some fire smoke, it pretty much just smelled like .. well, nature. Maybe it's just the fact I'm falling in love with Santa Fe and this is an extension of those serotonins ... but this has been one of my favorite KOA stays I've been on with my little fam. read more

We needed a stop in for our trip to Colorado. After some mechanical issues delaying us, this spot was a perfect place for us and the pups. It was very clean and well planned. Our pull through site was easy to get into and out of and was relatively flat, allowing us to leave the trailer hitched and make for an easy setup. Bathrooms were an easy walk and also very clean. we will stay again. read more

BEWARE. This KOA is under construction to expand their sites. As a result there are big rig dirt haulers and other heavy equipment whizzing through the camp every 15-20 minutes. No dust abatement measures. Two stars are for clean restrooms and grounds. Despite the owners agreement that our site was not good bc of the construction no refund or discount was offered. $90 a night to be on a busy road with big trucks going by within 10 feet of our picnic table is not acceptable! This was our first time at the Santa Fe KOA. When we arrived at the campground, the front desk staff was very professional and friendly, and they provided a golf cart escort to our campsite. The site was a little tight for our size coach so they offered to move us to a different site. This is a family-owned campground and the owner personally made sure we had a site that would work for us. Well, the new site had its own enclosed dog park. We have 2 dogs (one not great with other dogs), so this was a dream come true for them. We have been to many RV parks, including some very high end resorts, and we have never had a site like this. There is also a large community dog park, putting green, horseshoes, corn hole, playground, and a game room. Great campground, great family and staff!!! read more

Ran into a big snag here and the managers could not have been nicer or more patient. I chose this KOA because I'd stayed here a couple years ago and was impressed with the friendliness and cleanliness of the place. It's very well maintained and designed. The sites are farther apart than some state park camp grounds. I laughed at one review that complained how small the trees are. This is high desert, man! These trees are many, many, many years old and are beautiful. Towering pines? No. But this campground is a forest of these beautiful survivors which do a fine job shielding the spacious sites. One last thing --MANY amenities. They work hard to make this a great place in every day. They're handing out eclipse glasses today! read more

What a wonderful family that owns this park. They have done an amazing job creating the perfect spot for a quick night or an extended stay. My puppies give the dog park two paws up! Wonderful store and gift shop that has everything you might need plus some fun souvenirs. WIFi is top notch. No signal there so they took care of the problem. Have kids - mine are grown but they made sure families have tons of options and things to do. I love locally owned and will always do my best to support those that are in business. Come support them, you will not regret it. By they way, the dude with the negative review was told there was an issue that was out of their control because of a power outage. Clean, organized, well kept grounds, exceptionally friendly staff, on-site store has a lot, including pizza (they do need zipper front hoodies instead of just slip on), great pet areas, clean showers, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. You'd be hard pressed to find a better run KOA. This place is managed to a 'T'. The staff is friendly, everything is super neat and clean, and they even have free arcade games. It's convenient to Sante Fe. We spent two nights here in September 2022. I would like to leave a general comment for KOA. I'm not sure who designs the KOA parks, but please, please put the tent sites as far from busy roads as possible. RVs have insulated walls so traffic noise is mitigated. The staff was unbelievably friendly from Fort Worth. Good spot and was helpful with guiding us and showing us the hookups. The Bathrooms were immaculately clean, my daughter finally was able to take a nice shower unlike all the other KOAs we visited over the past 10 days. The playground was nice. First time we camped at a KOA. The grounds were clean and easy to find our campsite. The staff was helpful and explained everything very clearly. our campsite was clean and it was easy set up for our tent. We had adequate shade in the hot afternoon. The bathroom were clean and easy to access, and the shower was clutch after 2 weeks in National Parks. Unfortunately at night another tent camper left his dog outside to bark all night long. We got almost no sleep. We left earlier in the morning but I called the staff and they were very responsive and apologetic.(none of this was their fault). Without even asking, they refunded 1/2 of my campsite fee. Very much appreciated. Overall, really pleased with our experience. Would go to KOA again! read more

I tent camped at Sante Fe KOA Journey. I had travelling all day so I did not arrive at the campground until about 9pm. I had made a note on my reservation that I wouldn't be arriving until around 8pm. I was pleasantly surprised when they called me at 5pm to acknowledge my late arrival and to let me know about the after hours check-in procedure. That was really nice. What wasn't nice was when I arrived. I found my camp spot without much trouble, but as soon as I exited my car I was smacked in the face with an overwhelming pungent odor. A super strong sewer smell. I'm not exaggerating as it was an incredibly strong and disgusting sewer smell that was inescapable. It was late, dark, and I was tired from driving all day so I hurriedly set up my tent hoping that smell was subside, but it never did. The tent did nothing to filter the nauseating stench, that I quickly discovered, was emanating from sewer plant 20 feet away from my campsite, on the other side of a wooden fence (see attached image). It wasn't long before I had a splitting headache and felt nauseated. I couldn't sleep nor could I get any relief from the inexorable fetor of excrement that permeated the tent campsites so I wandered over the main office to get some relief. I noticed the sewer smell was the strongest on the eastern half of the the campground where the tent site were. Even though it was late, people were rustling around, most likely suffering from the same sickening discomfort that I was. I hung out as long as I could before finally just packing up all my gear and leaving in the shroud of darkness, dead tired, nauseated, and with a splitting headache. Worst night of camping ever!! The best experience we've ever had with a KOA. We had a reservation at Trailer Ranch RV resort. Due to wind we we'd lost an hour traveling and we're going to show up a few minutes after their front desk closed and they wouldn't wait for us or do after hours check in. So last minute we called these guys and they opened a site that had been closed for the season, to accommodate us. They were friendly and easy to work with. We have now been in 2 spots and smell our neighbors sewage. Picnic table very close to neighbors sewage. No cell service for Verizon users on chance you have an emergency, keep that in mind. Very clean campground and bathrooms. Friendly grounds staff! I would say, however, that the front office staff (name tag says Sue) is a little rough around the edges- not customer friendly. It is clear that in her mind, it is us receiving the favor to stay at Their KOA rather than their appreciation for our business- I have stayed at other campgrounds and felt like a welcomed guest. Called about availability for an extra night's stay and when told they could accommodate, we said we'd discuss and call back if we wanted to move forward. KOA proceeded to cancel our night and book for the next night without our instruction or knowledge. Never received a confirmation email reflecting this rogue decision made by their team. KOA staff was frankly quite rude, extremely unaccommodating, refused to acknowledge the error on their end and instead blamed us. They also had the audacity to charge us a cancellation fee. Questionable business ethics and lack of basic problem solving or customer service skills. Will be disputing the charge with our credit card company. read more

So my parents were staying at this location and I went to see them. The rude old lady at the front desk gave me a hard time about wanting the bathroom code. She explained, "We don't have public restrooms." I then explained, "My parents are staying here and paying you ~$60 a night." Her retort to this was exactly, "Well they aren't paying for you".... An absolute shame. Nice park, however Ola and Roger..... made this an absolutely miserable experience, from the moment we showed up asking why all 5 of our trailers pulled in together? (We travel as a family) to telling us we don't know how to park our rigs, to calling my 20 year old nephew a "kid" and the list goes on. Absolutely rude and inconsiderate. Embarrassing for myself and my family to have to deal with such poor customer service. We will never stay at this KOA again and have also cancelled my KOA membership in light of our experience. Ok campground. Clean and nice bathrooms, large campground, and friendly staff, close proximity to Santa Fe. We camped and found the online description of campsites being separated by trees leads you to think that the sites are private but they are close together and odd sized. Dog run was nice to have but not well cared for as far as "curb appeal". Nice store on site with great hours, clean grounds. Would definitely stay here again but would try a cabin next instead of tenting. Recommend for RV and cabin rentals. read more

I live on campgrounds year round in my RV. KOAs are normally ok but I don't rate this one, the sites are right on top of each other and not a blade of grass to be seen. To top it all, there is a bloke doing maintenance work on an old construction truck just across the way from me. ! At nearly 50 bucks a night, it's not good value for money in my view read more
