Walking in to this store I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's promoted as a 'value store' so you know it's not exactly the place to buy new china for when the Queen comes to visit, but as far as these types of stores go, this one is great. Since I visited in the lead up to Christmas, a good chunk of the store was overflowing with tinsel, decorations and other normal items made garishly Christmassy through the use of too much red and green.
The shop was absolutely packed full of stuff. The front half filled with Christmas related things while the back half retained some degree of normalcy, by this store's standards at least. I'm not sure it's exactly normal to find such an array of items anywhere; dress-up costumes side by side with hats, both silly and otherwise, stationary, photo frames and a million other things. Definitely a variety store.
I would choose this place over its chain counterparts any day, not only did there appear to be a lot more stuff, but I found the vibe to be cheerful and the customer service was great. read more
