This impressively big branch is open till 6, queues move quickly, and HBOS let me have an interest free overdraft when they could have been charging me for it. Even their telephone banking is good, as you're never kept waiting long at all. One word of warning at this branch especially. If you're male, you WILL find that in here a short skirted girl will try and sell you insurance or a credit card. If you're a girl you'll probably find a chisel-jawed male worker giving you the same spiel. They're not pushy or anything though, so it barely even registers as an annoyance.

It's a fairly small branch, and its cash machines are generally mobbed, especially during busy shopping times like Saturday afternoons and Thursday evenings. I think that people tend to forget that there's a Lloyds around the corner and a Bank of Scotland one block along the road. I went in ehre to open up my graduate account, since their overdraft terms are a lot more reasonable than those at my previous student bank, HSBC. It didn't take long to set up and the teller was very helpful. The bank itself as a means for withdrawing money, depositing cheques, and other routine things seems to be pretty good in general. The queues can be pretty long but since it's small there are only so many people you can cram in at once. Pretty much all you could ever want or need from a city centre bank branch.

If I'm correct, they said they still own some of Lloyds. So I could pay in here. It's right across from the big post office. Unlike most of the banks, like my bank, who have loads of tills with no one on them and huge queues, this bank had staff on every till point, it it was moving fast. The guy to right of the entrance was very helpful, as I was scared I might pay money into the wrong account, as the bank split had me confused. The staff on the desks were different age groups. That was nice to see, as the young are getting the chance to come through and shine, and they were polite. The bank looks really nice inside. Very clean. Not one fault:)

One thing that strikes me as a bit worrying is that I opened up a loan in this branch after only entering my pin number. Pin fraud does happen and it worries me that I was able to do this so easily. I worked for a seperate banking company and we wouldn't discuss anything about someone's account without doing a proper ID check on them.

How much? Do I have a pen?' These dudes almost make it simple: Make an appointment with these dudes, turn up, get taken on time and with a smile... can you ask for more? I banked with the bank of Scotland for over 30+ years ever since l was a kid, it was a sad day to move to a rival. The co-operative bank may not offer more interest than most places, but they sure make up with the personal touch, with most staff not even looking like bankers, with many of the staff remembering clients by first name, here l feel I'm not just a number. This branch seems to be less busy when I go in, compared to the Partick branch which always has a line out the door. Since changing over to TSB a while back, the whole inside of this place has had an overhaul and is bright and airy with loads of blue and white in the ads. I've never had a problem at any of the branches, TSB really has been the best bank I've ever banked with (American banks included) and I would recommend them to anyone! The staff have always been helpful and if you need to call in to their help line, again, the phone staff is always helpful and get you off and running. Bravo TSB for being the bank I count on!

It's often particularly busy (always good) but seems to have the slowest customers in the world; pensioners, yummy mummy's with their screeching kids and people incapable of understanding the dynamics of queueing or able to complete their request slip BEFORE reaching the service counter. Perhaps, as a consequence of the catering to the slowest customers in the banking world, the staff have followed suit. As the staff are also unbelievably slow and lacking friendliness. The staff are helpful but the bank has funny opening hours so check these out. There is an autoteller outside. Access to the bank is good and there are a few seats always a plus for the older generation if there is a queue.

It's big, comfortable and has the bog standard - but relatively nice - traditional Bank of Scotland decor in it; including grey speckled carpets and the like. The staff are pleasant enough and certainly seem to know their products well. This is especially clear in their questioning sales pitch for: 1) Car insurance. 2) Home insurance. 3) Building insurance. 4) Mobile phone insurance. 5) Platinum and/or Gold current accounts. I've found the best way to avoid getting tangled into long and drawn out conversations relating to the above it to make it abundantly and quickly evident that: 1) You don't have a car. 2) You've just renewed your home insurance. 3) You have to take your building insurance out through your factors. 4) You have a cheap mobile phone because you forever lose/break it. 5) You have very limited funds coming into your account regularly. To be honest the only time I head to the bank is if the card machine has swallowed my card, which seems to happen to me a lot more than your average person. It's so annoying! The only downside is the fact that they try to sell you everything from credit cards to holiday insurance that you just don't want or need. They're pretty persistent though but not as bad as some other branches. It's a reasonable size and as well as general bank related queries there is a section for business banking too. This bank also hosts a card machine outside which is very handy and it doesn't charge you for transactions.

In fact, more often that not I was sent down here on a mission by my manager at the time to pay money into her account to cover bills. Meanwhile, the service was unbelievably fast, even during the busier times such as lunchtime and/or Saturdays. This brings us onto the opening hours. This was one of the first venues where late night and weekend opening was piloted. It must have proved popular as this now seemed to have been adopted by other branches and indeed banks. Once you visit a Bank of Scotland branch they may call you to do a survey on their staff, how can a bank get so low to to be harassing their own staff then to harass customers to a performance review on the employee, l would normally understand this but as l went to the bank three times last week l received four calls one lasted an hour as they hadn't put the receiver down.
