I went there last night (a Monday) for a banquet with a small business group I belong to. They have a small banquet room which is kind of built in the parking lot and it is perfect for small groups and it has windows all around so it gives you the feeling of sitting outdoors. It's very nice. We ordered off the menu so it took a while for the meal. I understand our group was too small for family style which is why we ordered off the menu. I got the Sicilian chicken and it was delicious and a very generous portion so I took a lot home. Always a tradition to eat here when we visit family. They have been consistently amazing year over year. Service is outstanding and they make you feel like family. The owner comes out to check on you. Food is just simply on point. Their prices are great so it makes you think you will be cheaped out but no, the portions are amazing. And quality fantastic. We had the caprese salad, bottle of wine and 2 veal parm. The veal parm was life changing to put it lightly. To wrap up we had a port wine and tiramisu. I have just looked at the reviews about this place. I have been there many,many times! I have never had a bad experience there and the food has always been perfect! I am Sicilian and I definitely know when food is cooked correctly! I do not understand why people on here have had issues because I have never experienced anything like those! Came for a date night on a Monday night. Place was not too busy. Food I also absolutely delicious, I got the chicken tortillini soup and it was so authentic I did not like it unfortunately they may have put cinnamon in and I was looking for more savory and not sweet tasting. But of course my filet was cooked to perfection, absolutely filled with delicious flavors and just overall gourmet. A true hidden gem. Not much to look at from the street driving by but once you venture in the decor and ambiance is welcoming and warm. Outstanding service staff and a very large bar with many seats. The food? Outstanding! Even my very critical (sauce wise) Italian wife enjoyed it immensely. This is not just another typical red sauce joint. Well, this is my third try here. I WANT to love it here. Unfortunately, I just don't. First, it's in a strip mall. This always surprises me. Why would you put a more upscale type of restaurant next to a 7/11? Well, it seems to be the trend, so I'll give it a pass. The parking lot is not very big, and it needs some repairs, but all Michigan parking lots do this time of year. Once you step.inside, the atmosphere is warm, cozy, and upscale. It gets very busy, so reservations are recommended. Even the bar fills up quickly. Their wine and cocktail list is impressive. Beer list was ok. Not a huge selection, but a big enough one. Not a huge menu. But a fair selection. You get soup or salad with your entree and a bread basket. I found it odd that you had to pay extra to add pasta to your meal. What? I ordered chicken Saltimbocca. Had I not paid extra for angel hair pasta, it would have been two pieces of meat on a plate with some spinach...uhhh..ok. Pretty expensive for two pieces of chicken. He ordered chicken. Marsala and same thing. Had he not paid extra for linguini noodles, it would have been chicken and mushrooms on a plate. Service was great. Loved the atmosphere. The food was just ...meh. It didn't excite me. I want food to make me happy and release endorphins. This did nothing. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't anything terrific. I can't say enough of how wonderful this place was. We decided on Sapori Because they have private rooms you can reserve. The entire staff, from the managers on down (Javier and Miguel) Were completely incredible!!! My wife and I held our marriage in one of the private rooms with about 25 guests. Between her, I and the entire guest list, we were all completely blown away. The food, the stocked bar, and mostly the staff couldn't have made our night any better. I highly highly recommend this place. Sapori and the entire staff will always be a part of my life changing adventure. You guys absolutely rocked!!! And knocked it out of the park. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. The wine was also good which is what is giving this place its 2 stars. My minestrone soup was lack-luster...clam chowder was too thin and bland. I ordered the seafood linguine pasta. The seafood was not properly described by the waitress prior to ordering and I ended up with a slop of way too many different sea creatures. Seafood pasta is my go-to at any Italian restaurant but the seafood pasta at Sapori was dry and tasted very "fishy" ... but was otherwise flavorless. This is my favorite spot for a night out with the mister. They've recently expanded so they have a banquet hall and a restaurant but the last time I went the hall wasn't open just yet. For apps, I've had the calamari but my absolute favorite is the orange glazed scallops! They're phenomenal and have the most perfect crust. The seafood risotto is by far my favorite dish. The amount of seafood that you get is crazyyyyy and the gulf shrimps are huge plus you get a bunch of them. It's a wine and tomato base so it's not the traditional creamy risotto that you'd normally think of but the lightness of the dish reflects the chefs talent. The gelatos are to die for! My favorite is the casata creme and dark chocolate sea salt caramel :) they make the gelato in a machine that they had imported from Italy and sell it at places including the fountain bistro in Detroit, mon Jin lau in Troy and even some grocery stores. It's literally that good! You could also rent the cart that they have for parties which I plan to do this summer! Each dish my family ordered was cooked to our liking. Lastly the service was great and I appreciated that the owner stopped and asked us how our food tasted showing a real interest. Went last night with a small group. We had reservations but still had to wait for our table to become ready, however, no guests were there yet. Too many hostess just sitting around. We waited over an hour to order..(again, maybe four guests in dining area). After ordering we waited 30 minutes for salad., 45 minutes later we were begging for our food to arrive. Finally food was served. Three of us couldn't eat it..Eggplant was served as a soup, another had totally burnt shrimp. She sent it back only to get the exact same shrimp served again. my veal parmigiana was impossible to cut. Sent back and chief confirmed it was awful and he was sorry. Would you like another option? After a two hour wait to get any dinner, I said no thank you. I was embarrassed I recommended this restaurant to my guests and highly do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I was looking forward to attending this restaurant. It was our first time, and upon entering, us two ladies were greeted and asked If we had a reservation. We said, No, and I glanced around the restaurant, it was completely empty, except for one man at the bar on a Tuesday at 4:30pm. I thought perhaps they're expecting a stampede of customers. Ok, so then he walks us ladies way to the back of the bar next to the kitchen and storage area. (Yes, the old fashioned Stigma where ladies are usually seated in these places or by the restrooms). We ladies were both executive types in our careers. We generously tipped our waitress above 20 percent, as she was very nice, and also tipped the lady bartender for the martini's. We were not too excited about the food. Needless to say, We won't be back. There are other Italian restaurants to explore. I expect to be treated better as a customer. read more
