TLDR: The food was amazing and the staff were kind and accommodating despite getting there later at night. This was our first meal after arriving in Positano and we couldn't have asked for a better one. We arrived in Positano around 10 PM on a Saturday night. This restaurant was on our itinerary and was a 2 minute walk from our hotel. We walked up around 10:30 and they sat us immediately on the outdoor patio. We ordered grilled octopus to start and it might have been the freshest and tastiest grilled octopus I've ever eaten. We also ordered a spicy green sauce pasta that was top 3 best things we ate on our entire trip. I wish I knew the name of it so that I could mention it here. We also ordered a prosciutto and burrata pizza. My wife isn't a huge fan of prosciutto so she didn't enjoy it as much as I did. But I would happily eat that pizza again and again. The staff were very kind and friendly. They didn't ever seem annoyed that we came in later at night. Every day that we walked past them to go into the main center of Positano, they smiled and invited us back in or asked how we were doing. Started with the fried calamari, zucchini, and shrimp -- absolutely amazing! The creamy lemony dressing that came with it was the perfect complement to match the fried foods. The zucchini were like little French fries -- super thin, crispy, and well-salted. Such a great start to the meal. For my main, I had the spaghetti aglio e olio, which was just okay. The staff were super kind and they remembered us and said hi every time we walked by the restaurant. It doesn't have a view, but they do have outdoor seating which is nice. Amazing service from this 65 year old Italian favorite restaurant close to water views. We found this from our driver who took us to Postano today and the owner Marulou could not have been more welcoming. The margarita pizza had a wonderful crisp crust with perfectly soft center .With delicious easy to pull apart mozzerella and house made sauce.We were in pizza heaven. The pizza is coal fired so be prepared that the edges might be slightly charred . A bottle of lambrusco for $20 and capped since did not finish. Fast, friendly service. They take reservations but despite that we still managed to snag a table without one early for dinner. The pizza came fast, hot and fresh. Went to Saraceno d'Oro last night and have to say it was such a great experience! From the start, we arrived a little early so our table wasn't quite ready. We were politely asked if we wouldn't mind waiting on the windy road in front until the table was ready...of course it wasn't a problem but they brought over a complimentary glass of perseco for me and my family! Once we were seated, immediately connected with Teresa our waitress...she was fantastic! At first the plan was to take it easy and get takeaway pizza but this place caught our eye right before we could turn back. Their prices were reasonable so we decided to give it a chance! I ordered the margarita and my husband got the lasagna. We got some grilled vegetables to start off. Grilled veggies were oily, but good. Not what we're used to but good to have as a side. My pizza came out soon after and man, it was the one of the best pizzas I've had. Crust was thin, crispy, yet soft and melt in your mouth in the center! The pizza napoletana is the 'STG' or old style here- think less airy, thin somewhat 'soggy' body, blend of two cheeses and delicious fresh toppings. Contrast this with the contemporary style pizza napoletana (widely available in the US w/ moist and dough-ier crust). Service was a bit sassy, but overall fine. Stayed at this hotel while visiting Positano; and decided to eat here one night. A top notch restaurant, high-end (and accordingly priced.) - but the service was beyond reproach, the food, absolutely amazing. In typical Italian style, you generally order each course for each person, so the portion sizes are accordingly proportionate (not really intended or designed to be shared) but we had been eating out every day/night for 10 days, so were just managing our intake and shared two appetizers (octopus and raw fish sampler) - they were small (again, intended for a single diner) but were delicious. My wife had the Mediterranean lobster which was one of the most amazing lobsters we ever tasted. I had the braised pork neck, which was similarly amazing. They immediately asked us if we'd like to sit and eat, got our drinks and menus right away. We decided on two pizzas: the Saraceno and the Diavola. My husband and I agree that we have never eaten more delicious pizza in our lives. The crust, the sauce, the flaky Parmesan on top and even the spicy olive oil to drizzle on top, it was insanely good. We are already planning to go back tomorrow to try the pasta. I was left slightly disappointed with my meal, but I still do understand the appeal of this restaurant. When we visited here on a weekday evening, it was already very busy but the servers were able to sneak us into a table in the corner. The restaurant itself is very cozy and decorated with interesting artwork. For food, I ordered the mushroom ravioli which was tasty but didn't leave me very full. For the price I was expecting a bit more, but I probably should've just ordered something else. If you read about this place online, STAY AWAY! The WORST customer service we had in all of Italy -- their attitude is definitely that they are doing you the favor! I reached out about takeout and they said the full menu is takeout, called to ask about the menu and was told to come in person and was hung up on, and walked there to order and was told a half and hour wait. We walked up many steps to get to this restaurant. The other option was to follow the main road out of town around, which was way more walking. It took us about 15 minute from the port to get here. It was worth it. Our party of 4 was seated inside, where it was air conditioned, with no wait. Our server was with us immediately and was very knowledgable about the menu. We ordered and the food came out shortly after that. I had the veal scallopini with the mushroom sauce and was very satisfied with my meal. There was a decent amount of meat and the sauce was great, the perfect thickness and not to rich like some other places. Yelp says they close at 330 but we hiked all the way up to eat there made it 10 minutes before the 330 close time and they turned us away saying they close at 320. The guy that greeted us was super rude and says "we're closed" Super annoying they pick and choose when they'll serve you even though their yelp says they're open. The walk from Positano is 15-20 min up hill so if you want to try and eat there give yourself 30-40 mins or take the chance they'll turn you away. read more
