As a bonus, I also got an opportunity to perform in one of the recitals hosted by Kirsten and it was a great experience. She's very flexible and knowledgeable, and knows how to pace yourself to improve your skills over time.

I enjoyed my meetings with her. She always so the positives and the possibilities, even when it came to my own songs. She was extremely supportive of working on my original music and helped me feel confident with the few songs I wrote that were pretty high on my range. She's also a very real person, so we could focus but we could also laugh or acknowledge if we were struggling a bit that day. She offers all of her students, piano and singing, to participate in a recital that is hosted by an elderly care facility for which she volunteers her time, I believe to do singing or choir. I suggest for any potential student to take that opportunity in that low stress environment with Kristen's support and other supportive students to practice being in front of people. Also, the residents really appreciated it. While meeting in person would have been nice and probably has some advantages, working remotely was really convenient and still quite effective. I highly recommend Seattle City Music with Kristen for your vocal or piano lessons!

A great space for children - on their own - to learn music from the teacher through singing,…read moreplaying (very briefly) an instrument, dancing around the room and enjoying a one-hour class with a handful of other preschoolers. I was a bit surprised, our first class a free trial, to learn once I arrived that the teacher pushes the parents and caretakers out of the room (into a cramped waiting room at the side or back outside), even if the child is not quite ready to be in this new environment solo. (So come prepared.) If a child struggles through the separation initially, one parent is asked to sit on the floor at the back of the room to give confidence, but as soon as the child I had stopped crying, the parent is dismissed with "This is not a performance. This is a class." Children, by the end of the thirty minutes alone with the teacher are asked to call in the parents and continue with them. At this point, more of the children were comfortable and eager to share. Most, having much to say and share about the experience once class let out.

I was quoted 2-3 weeks, when I followed up 2 months later they discovered that the unit had been sitting ready for pickup for a long time and no one reached out to me to tell me it was ready. If I had to guess, it seems like the repair folks are swamped with work and that they're constantly asked to prioritize items that are going to the sales floor over local customer repairs. Sad, this used to be my favorite shop in Seattle. Now it feels like they target the tech-salary or boomer collector over working musicians, and all the charm and relatability is gone. Won't be back.

I brought in a guitar with some very relic'd tuners. They were rusted, bushings to the post, on…read moremultiple tuners. The repair shop took the greatest care, cutting the posts, drilling them out and protecting a beautiful flame maple neck. They then buffed the headstock. My stellar Tele works as well as it looks!
