Not much changed since my review. Updating from 2 to 1 for the same thing. It's been months i didn't went here, and recently i decided to give a chance and try it again. Same thing happened again. Unbelievable. I asked for extra soy sauce in advance and when i got the bag there was only one soy sauce. I went back and said that I asked for extra ahead of time. They replied why you need many? So funny. I said i need 3. They gave me one more. So i laughed and went asked for soy sauce from front Panda Express place. Never coming back again. Been getting this for years and the food quality has been the same! Its so good and freshly grilled in front of you along with the veggies. I had the chicken teriyaki plate with extra sauce. For those that love chicken get double meat but my plate was perfect for me! Added my own sriracha at home. Perfect evening meal. They accept tap now which is a plus for many who dont carry cash so that includes apple pay, google pay, and tap cards. Workers are nice and friendly. Big sign for calling out your order number. Located on the second floor of the Pacific View mall, this is a convenient option for when I want Japanese fast food. I like that the food is cooked when ordered so that it is hot and fresh. It normally comes with rice but I prefer noodles so I would pay the surcharge for that. The chicken teriyaki was flavorful but a little bit too salty for me. I thought maybe it was the teriyaki sauce being too salty but that was not the case with the shrimp teriyaki, which I felt were a little bland, but nothing a little sriracha won't fix. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and the stuffing was flavorful, it really did not need the sauce packet at all. The California roll that came with the bento was decent. Typical mall food... My chicken bento box was good. However, no small salad as advertised on the menu board. Instead cooked veggies. Veggies are chopped so small that I believe I'm eating cooked broccoli slaw. The dumplings/pot stickers are nice. A very busy place at lunch. Not sure if school lets out at the time I arrived or just lets out for lunch. I'm guessing for the day. Staff is good. read more

Do not get the spicy tuna roll. Not good and very overpriced. The dumplings are not worth it either at all. Just stick with the chicken or beef teriyaki. They have a good size portion and the meat is cooked fresh. Customer service is not very good. read more

They need to figure out their lives!! Always super rude and disregard you. They close when they want. Many times they say it'll be closed at 8 and they are cleaned up and closed by 7:45. One instance we showed up to the parking lot to do a mobile order at 7:30. We tried for 15 minutes to order and it kept saying there was an issue. So we walked in at 7:45 to 7:50 and they said they closed the online Ordering at 7:30. They didn't listen when we said we were trying to get the deal at 7:30 and then they just kept saying that we were wrong. Another time I did a mobile order and the order went through, so I went to go pick it up at 7:45 and they were closed! I mention that I had an order for pick up and they said no that they couldn't do it. I was charged and they had cleaned everything up. I kept mentioning that I've had a mobile order and they told me that it was wrong in that there were no mobile orders to pick up. They didn't even stop and asked me what the numbers was or the fact that I was saying I was there to order. read more

I gave this three stars because the people working there were very nice and patient but the food is not authentic Japanese food.

Finally my favorite food chicken teriyaki is back in business. I love this food chicken teriyaki over rice and veggies and the famous delicious yummy yummy sauce. The staff was great, everyone very careful. All of the employees were polite and thank you after they call your order. Am impressed very well train. Line might be crazy but am sure after eating it hot and fresh quality food pays off the long wait. Thanks you guys! Will be back soon read more

Oh, how I LOVE hibachi and sushi! I could eat this everyday... Fo' real! =0) They have delicious food...and it's awesome having the chefs right there cooking hibachi style! Typically, you don't get this sort of thing unless you go to a Benny Hanna type restaurant... to get the delicious food without the show is great! Granted, I love Benny Hanna type restaurants but Sarku Japan is delivering the grub in the setting where people want there food quick. They totally deliver this to the customers. They know their demographic, that's for sure. :0) I'm baffled by the reviews giving Sarku a low rating. They're a 5 Star in my book. They're located in the Food Court in the Pacific View Mall and for a Food Court business they deliver more than the average business! So, try it yourself and make the determination yourself! Never shop on an empty stomach. This is fast food at fast food prices at the mall. I am not 100% in love with Malls; but when one must go, one must still eat. I had vegetarian soba noodles for less than 4 bucks. The vegetables were tepan grilled right in front of me. There could have been more veggies but for the money It was pretty darn good. Went in for lunch and ordered a chicken plate with veggies, noodles and vegetables. Everything was good until I took a bite of from the vegetable medley and a chip from a wooden spoon was found. I told my husband to go let the workers know so they are more careful because I was lucky that I was the one who got that spoonful and not my 3 year old who I was sharing with. The worker just looked at my husband and didn't care and just threw the wood chip in the trash and continued working. Ordered the Bento chicken teriyaki box. It comes with 3 dumplings, vegetables, 4 pieces of California sushi roll, a bed of steamed rice and the chicken teriyaki is on top. I also ordered a side of noodles. The noodles were ok. The dumplings were crispy. The chicken teriyaki was NOT sweet, which I personally didn't like. The sushi tasted like something you'd buy from a gas station (gross). The vegetables were not seasoned. I do not recommend this place. read more

Haven't been to many places in a while now. But this has always been one of my faves. At least in the Janns Mall in Thousand Oaks. Figured, how different can it really be? Well the food looked WAY better than it tasted. Gave us a bunch of rice(they didn't even give us the option of noodles like the one in TO). And it came with steamed veggies that tasted funny instead of salad. Overall, it was edible. But not what we were used to getting. Unfortunately, the customer service here isnt that great either. Not one person smiling. I'll say that I wontever come back to this one. But I'll definitely be going back to Thousand Oaks!! I miss this food lol read more

I didn't start going to this place that often until my mom kept eating it and the big deciding factor of why this made it to three stars from a two stars in my book was my son actually asked for their chicken and rice. Anything other than burgers and fries is what I like to hear from my kid who is picky. They always rave about their chicken terriyaki, because that is what they're always giving the people walking by. Their chicken terriyaki in fact is really good, and the choices you have at a food court well, this place is probably a better choice if you're craving some rice. If you want to steer a way from the usual burgers, pizza, subs, fries, Sarku is the way to go. The only problem I have is instead of making me want their food while they're cooking it, it makes me not want to eat it. One I am not sure how sanitary their bucket full of meats is. But then again you don't know that from any place. I guess don't watch while they cook?! There was one day however watching from afar, they were cleaning the ceiling or lights on top of their stove while they were cooking. I am pretty sure that is not sanitary! So I will still go with my tip to always watch how they cook your food. After all, isn't that the point of a stove in front of the customers ?!?! Maybe you will get what I mean when you watch the cook, cook your food. Just watch, it's not as appealing as you would like to see from a place cooking in front of you. read more

The best teriyaki chicken you will ever have. Very flavorful and pops in your mouth. On a bed of white rice and vegetables with my beloved cabbage, which I always ask for extra cabbage! And I ask for a little side of the teriyaki sauce to pour on later. Eat it in the Mall Food court or take home. The price is pretty okay without a drink it comes to $6! The people that work there pretty friendly too. The food taste better when you eat with chopsticks instead of a fork, lol! read more

The food is pretty good for the most part! My kids love it but I'm sure it helps that they get to go play right after! I do not like that fact that when you tell them you want to add noodles, they automatically take the rice away but still charge you extra for the noodles! If I say noodles, no rice, I'd understand no rice but they automatically assume I want one not the other! And when I asked about this, they said you have to ask half and half but you'll still get charged the same extra charge if you do all noodles no rice! And yes, sometimes the food is too greasy but for the most part, it is delicious, full of flavor and made in front of you! I am a fan of Sarku! I really love the noodles more than anything, could have more flavor but still good! Anyone this visit, I ordered extra meat since I was sharing with my daughter. I opened it and there was barely any meat at all! I looked at my receipt to see if I was charged for extra chicken and I was! So I took it back to ask if he gave me extra meat and he said yeah and tried showing how it is served! I was annoyed and I just said okay and walked away! I have been there countless times! I have ordered a regulator plate and have added meat so I know the difference! Unless every other cook is doing it wrong and giving too much and this is the one cook sticking to some insane way of scooping the chicken! The chicken was dry and the veggies were over cooked! I order 4 plates of their Teriyaki and the cook messed up my order, when I tried to correct him telling him he made the wrong plates (no vegetables and one had to be noodles) he got defensive demanded the receipt I showed it to him and instead of making things right he tried scolding me telling me I didn't get the plates on time and that it was my fault!!! Meanwhile other people behind me started taking the rest of the plates and he wouldn't tell them anything!! When I say something he told me I had to wait until he was done with everyone else because I "had let them" take my food!!!!!
