This place was super delicious. It's a vegetarian Indian spot that I will definitely come back to. I had the South Indian lentil soup and the spinach-lentil dal as my main course. Both were super delicious. The lentil soup was pretty spicy, which I love, but if you're not into spicy foods, just something to be aware of. Portions are generous. It may not have been the best Indian food I've had, but just the fact that the whole menu is vegetarian is such a bliss! And the food, served in huge portions, was really good value for money. Although the pakora starter for one was ridiculously large even for two and more samosa than pakora and the nan bread was very strange and more like pancakes than any nan I've had. The palak paneer and the broccoli paneer was good, so was a soy dish I don't remember the name of. (Although my friend thought it was a bit too buttery I think it was actually a nice touch and I don't even like butter.) Great food! I was happy to see everything was veg and they could easily make things vegan. I got the Coco rice and a few other things. Satyam is the nicer and fancier sister of Ashoka located just around the corner. This place is bigger, less nosy and more appropriate for a dinner. They serve (as written on the menu) Ayurveda and vegetarian food. You can also fill a test sheet out first to find out your Ayurveda type since some dishes are classified with the Ayurveda types. Their menu is slightly bigger than the vegetarian on at Ashoka and they definitely have more creative dishes such as filled beetroot in ginger sauce. My highlight was their lunch offer: a plate with 4 different curry with rice and salad. I mean excuse me? Can you read my mind? Hell yeah! The plate turned out to be huge and I couldn't be happier about it. I had some lentils with beans, tofu curry with pineapple in coconut sauce, red cabbage and mushroom stew and a potato broccoli stew. DAMN! Everything was well seasoned, super aromatic and so delicious. The amount of food was just perfect for me. I was so stuffed after finishing the plate. The only thing I didn't liked was the fact that my rice was a tiny bit too cold but duh... everything else was perfect. My friend on the other hand had a less charming experience. She ordered the stuffed beetroot and asked twice if the sauce is spicy and the waiter said no. After eating it she realized that the sauce is indeed not too spicy but the filling of the beetroot. I tried it as well and have to confirm: Yes it was spicy. She gave her best to finish it but as a person who isn't used to spicy food (that's why the asked the waiter) it was too much. So if you come here tell the waiter that you die if the dish is minimally spicy so you won't get any bad surprises. But for me: I prefer this place during the lunch time a bit over Ashoka since the lunch plate is bigger and just 1€ more than the Ashoka dishes. read more

Great place! I went here with my wife and kids, because I was on this search for 'Banana Curry', and according to the internet, this was one of the few places that had it...what the internet did not tell me at the time was that this place is fully vegetarian. No meat. We decided for the buffet and one extra order of banana curry. Many dishes have organic ingredients, and tasting the dishes, we all felt that the ingredients were fresh and picked with care. The buffet was delicious and variable, it offered a wide range of flavors, all without meat. Even though I do enjoy meat, and I did struggle entering this place ones I found out it doesn't serve meat, I have to say that I am glad I went. This is one of my new favorites, and given the amount of great Indian food places in Berlin, that is a compliment. read more

All vegetarian, friendly service and home made Indian sweets! Lunch menu for 5,50€ is unbeatable!

Satyam is quite a unique establishment in Berlin - a predominately vegetarian indian restaurant. The food at Satyam is quite good, but the decor really lets the place down - the inside is bright but cheaply furnished creating quite a tacky feel. After dining like I, you will find it sticks out compared to other establishments in the local vicinity. The menu is quite large and well priced and offers vegetarians and vegans a wealth of options. This is probably a good place if you have never eaten Indian food before as they offer a 'Vegetarian or Vegan Platter' which consists of 4/5 different curry's - quite a nice idea but it wasn't anything special. Also on offer are Indian rice wraps, which are a tasty and cheap meal at around EUR5. What did bemuse me slightly during one of my experiences was the plate had the name of the restaurant across the street on it; who knows what the reasoning behind that is Overall, mediocre food, a bad interior and better places close by. The place looks great and the food tasted amazing, but unfortunately the service was a little bit yucky. My friend and I had to wait at least fifteen minutes to be noticed and then it would take ages between visits from the waitress. She was friendly, but a little overworked. And then the cashier guy could also learn some basic customer service tips, but over all the place is great and I'll come back. I just know I have to be patient :) read more

One of those experiences that I wish would have been better... On the plus side: this is an all vegetarian Indian restaurant with loads of vegan options & Ayurvedic dishes on the menu and prices are very reasonable. Walking in something felt off though and just didn't fit in this supposedly "spiritual atmosphere". The tables were dirty (greasy), the flooring looked like it needed replacement 5 years ago, there were many very loud very drunk guests who kept leaving their food to have a smoke and trampled through the room like a bunch of elephants on dope, which really annoyed the hell out of us! The food was ok-ish. Nothing more, nothing less, except for the Samosas, which were actually kind of good-ish :) For the main course we had the ayurv. Kapha dish & the vegan plate, out of which the latter was clearly the better. Carry-out containers were- of course - plastic just like the unnecessary straws that came with our juice. Overall it was an interesting experience on many levels that didn't include meat, therefore 3 stars and I'm still wondering to this day how the "decorative angel" fit into the picture... Unfortunately I can't give the #VeganVentures approval but will probably remember the night anyway for other reasons :) read more

Food doesn't taste good. Service is super slow (but not very different than what I have experienced everywhere else in Berlin). Server was very rude (which is quite different than what I had experienced elsewhere). There was a weird smell of something like insect repellent despite all of the doors and windows being open. I would not go back here. They don't take any of the regular credit cards such as Amex/Visa/MC. read more

Let's face it. Indian food in Berlin is plentyful and it is usually also shite. Luckily there are exceptions. One of them is this little vegetarian gem specializing in ayurvedic food. I am a fiend for South Indian food, and Satyam has several South Indian dishes on its menu which is a bit of a rarity. We went there four people: Me and my wife, 5 year old daughter and 14 old son. We ordered the tarka dal for the 5yo and some mixed pakora and tandoori veggies for all os us to share. The boy and I went for the dosa marsala, which I cannot recommend enough. They came accompanied by sambhal and coconut chutney in the classic manner and it was delicious! All the foods we sampled were good and the kids loved it too. The service was good and friendly, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. When we came there was a large party of 15 eating there, so it is possible to go there in groups as well. One of the best five Indian meals I have ever had. read more
