It's absolutely fine! The sheets are clean, the rooms are clean, and there are quirky little touches that make you go 'awwww.' Better yet -they have a house cat! Laxziest and most unfriendly cat ever, but awesome nonetheless. The lounge is my favourite bit to be honest. I stayed here about 10 years ago and the lounge was what I remembered the most, and remains virtually unchanged. It has a fireplace that in the chilly evenings is cozy and warm, and everyone in the hostel congregates to this room. You end up chatting to people from all over the world, sharing a whisky or a beer. I will make mention of the toilets and showers. Clean. But few in number. We stayed at the front part where there were two rooms, with six beds each, and one toilet and one shower. Luckily they were separate doors altogether, but made it tricky for shower timings. Furthermore after a particularily booze filled Christmas eve in the pub, trying to find a toilet from the lounge took me up three flights of stairs where I couldn't work out the lightswitch. That's not entirely the fault of the hostel, but more my inebriation. It was interesting to say the least ;) Overall, Kyleakin is not a big village by any stretch of the imagination. But they have three hostels, and a hotel. When I was there at Christmas, just the one pub, although supposedly more will open up. It's a good base for travelling around skye, and it's well priced. In the evenings you can go to the pub, or play boardgames in the hostel. Even...take a cheeky swim in Kyle Akin, as some were want to do on a chilly boxing day morning. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, all three times I stayed.

The waitress and bartender were super friendly - she advised us that the table we had chosen was dog height and since they allow dogs, we should be careful of our food being nicked! I ordered the soup, which I believe was butternut squash. It was not unpleasantly salty, as though it had fish sauce in it. Very interesting. My husband had the Highland Rump roast and it was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately they were out of Guinness at the time.

Great, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, all clean, bathroom is lovely and modern, excellent shower, fluffy, nice smelling bath robes (great after you've been a tit and just thrown yourself in the fairy pools in the autumn rain). Big, gentlemen style, green leather sofas to cosy up on in the lounge area with a night cap, super comfy beds, all well equipped and well kept. On top of the breakfast view, the food is great. I had the Blairdhu Cairn, black pudding and poached egg balanced on top of tatty scone. Fruit, yoghurts, cake, cereals and your standard fare to help yourself to too, with nice jams and marmalades as well. There are tellies in the room and in the room for breakfast with the news on, free wifi, and ample parking. I intend to go to skye again soon, because I love it, and I want to see the dinosaur footprints they discovered, practically immediately after we got back, and I would happily stay here again when I do.

Guests enjoy a gorgeous view from the guest lounge/breakfast room and from some guest rooms. The double room was nicely decorated, it had a large comfortable bed with reading lights on either side and a duvet with high-quality linens. Amenities included robes (aka dressing gowns), hair dryer, in-room tea and flat screen TV. The modern bathroom featured a stall shower (with plenty of hot water) fluffy towels, shampoo/bath gel and a vanity with space for your toiletries. Our room did not have a view but was quiet and private, the large window faced the side garden. The breakfast options include a full Scottish breakfast as well as many other healthy choices to suit all tastes, service was friendly and efficient. Our host Fiona was helpful and welcoming. She accepts cash or credit card (with a small additional fee of ~3%).

This hotel is popular for it's view of the harbor but we noticed the rooms facing the harbor were blocked by parked cars, so weren't too sad about not having one from our room. Would stay again!

My fish was tasty but soft; I'd guess the restaurant caters to mostly older people, and it was all a bit soft and bland. My partner's veggie burger was really sad, no cheese, no veg. Chips were good. The orange chocolate cheesecake was terrible, it was full of the white bits as if someone zested too far into the orange. Don't order that. Service was nice and they were helpful in accommodating my request for gluten free food. The hotel: we stayed in a triple, and it was clean and nicely set up. It was quiet and had a lovely view from the front. WiFi only works in the lobby. The breakfast was alright; I had bacon and scrambled eggs, my companions had the veggie breakfast. The mushrooms were burnt to a crisp, but eggs were good. There's not a whole lot to do in this part of Skye, though if you've got a car, there's a one lane road that does a loop across the peninsula that is lovely, if a bit white knuckely. All in all, a good option if you've got a car.

And clean! -For a B&B, very strong strong Wifi! -Excellent breakasts! Customized to your liking. -Free Parking CONS...just one: its about a 8-10 minute walk into the town center. After the first day, we decided to drive into town for dinner. So if you plan on getting drunk at the pubs, take a taxi back. Alcohol limit is only .035 in Scotland! At £80/night for two, I'd definitely stay here again!
