My family of four came for Sunday lunch right when they opened. Within a few minutes, there were several other tables occupied. We put it out appetizer order when we ordered drinks to stay ahead of the Sunday crowd. We got the Thaiger appetizer (pronounced Tiger, like Aubie) which was delicious, perfect for sharing. I liked the calamari and shrimp roll. I also love all the dipping g sauce that comes with it and saved them for my main meal. We ordered drunken noodles, Thai bbq duck, and green curry chicken all at spice level 3 which was perfect for my spice-loving family. Everything was delicious! Delicious food. But I ordered a delivery to my 92-year-old mother. It was supposed to take 40 minutes over two hours later, it still wasn't there. The app kept saying that the delivery was going to be late and the delivery is going to be late with no reasonable delivery time. Multiple calls to the restaurant and the line rang busy. If you are in Auburn and crave something other than barbecue hamburgers, or southern food would highly recommend Savanh. At first I was annoyed because they serve my daughters Pad Thai extremely spicy like a spice level of 10+ when we had specifically requested 1-2. It was so hot that she cannot eat it. However, the owner was gracious enough to offer to remake it, although we declined. I just told my daughter to put it away in the fridge overnight which she did. Best Thai food and my favorite restaurant in Alabama. Their food is mind blowingly great, always made to order from scratch. Their chicken noodle bowl with two pork egg rolls is always my go-to here. Ten of us went there. The food was awesome. While it did take longer than most other restaurants, they already have a sign out there stating that it could take long. The food is authentic because it's made by a Thai cook. Authentic food takes long and if what you want is authentic and you have the time, this place is excellent. It's not reheated food. Even the appetizers are made fresh. If you want something fast, go to a Chinese takeout. My advice, order appetizers so you are not hungry waiting for the food. Grand opening.... let me start by saying it is 4 stars because of the food...we were the first ones thru the door...the good news is, they had a good crowd show up....which was also the bad news....probably too many too quick for the 2 wait staff....usual bumpy start with getting the food ordering process down... pretty good lag time from order to arrival at our table...probably did not help that front of the house was also our waiter....but did not really see any difference in time with the other tables....am sure that will all be sorted out in a few weeks???? Our food arrived hot and nicely presented on the plate and it was delicious....we ordered Pad Kao Pao and Panang Curry...about 45 minutes later the Pad Kao Pao came out...but no Panang.... with the explanation they had no curry today...so we ordered Pad Thai... which arrived about 25 minutes later...a little too saucy but tasty... Definitely worth a try!! I have been there twice. I wasn't very hopeful initially since I had not heard good reviews from anyone I had spoken to. Since my favorite Thai place closed, we decided to try this place. And, we were definitely not disappointed!! Infact, we were so happy, we went back there. My favorites are the Panang Curry and the Crunchy Chicken. The portions are big enough for more than one person. They will ask you for the preferred spice level. The first time, we did not realize the spice levels were lower than expected. I ordered a 3 out of 5, and realized I could have done a 4, or maybe even, a 5. The second time, I ordered a 4 out of 5 and liked it a lot better. I can tolerate a LOT of spice, so order accordingly. Also, the manager and the servers are very nice and very attentive.
